108. Good Brother
Snowing.
This was a sudden heavy snowfall. In previous years, although the city of Forth was close to winter at this time, the first snowfall usually occurred two months later.
Tanya is sweeping the snow under the ash trees in the courtyard.
A young man behind her smiled and said:
"Tanya works hard, do you need my help?"
The girl stretched out her white and tender arms, revealing her cute biceps:
"No need, Mr. Parr, although I am small, my strength is no less than that of a boy."
Parr smiled and touched her head:
"I trust you."
After saying that, Parr turned around and walked around the house to catch up with his best brother.
This Mr. Parr is Mr. Wright's blood brother. Although Tanya can't quite understand what blood brother means, she can guess that Parr must have a close relationship with Mr. Wright.
But since Mr. Parr arrived, Tanya discovered many strange things, or in other words, Mr. Parr's existence was a strange thing.
Tanya was surprised to find that she could not clearly remember when Mr. Parr came here. It seemed like yesterday, and it seemed like a month ago. It even seemed that she had known Mr. Parr before she met Wright.
Of course, this is impossible, because she still clearly remembers the scene when Mr. Wright interviewed her.
The vague memory left her confused. She once suspected that she was suffering from some mental illness. According to what Benita had recently read in a book, it might be an organic disease in the brain.
She shook her head, it was just that she was too tired recently.
Benita jumped up to Tanya:
"Sister, what did Mr. Parr say to you just now?"
Tanya replied:
"You're just asking me if it's hard work. You little guy, when did you care so much about Mr. Parr?"
Benita blushed and said:
"What are you talking about, sister? It was Mr. Parr who carried me back from the street. I just want to repay him."
"Ah?" Tanya was stunned.
Wasn't it Mr. Wright who rescued his sister? What is Benita talking about?
Benita said:
"Sister, what's wrong with you?"
Tanya smiled covertly:
"It's okay, maybe I haven't slept well recently."
Benita looked at her sister worriedly:
"How about I clean it? Sister, you go back and have a rest first."
Tanya instinctively wanted to refuse, but the secret panic deep in her heart drove her to nod:
"Just help me put the broom away. I'll go talk to Mr. Wright. He should let me take a rest."
Benita frowned and corrected:
"It should be Mr. Parr, right? After all, Mr. Parr is the one who pays the salary."
Tanya walked away quickly, ignoring Benita's question.
She walked faster and faster, and finally she was almost trotting nervously. She rushed into the house, slammed the door tightly, and let out a long breath.
She suddenly realized what she was doing? Was she running away from her sister?
Tanya covered her heart and wanted to turn around with some guilt, but she suddenly stopped in front of the door, and her biological survival instinct made her glance into the gap in the blinds.
Benita still stood there, looking expressionlessly in the direction of Tanya's escape.
Cold sweat instantly soaked Tanya's back. She held her hands in front of her body defensively and took a few steps back.
"Sister Tanya, what are you doing?"
Tanya turned around instantly, and what appeared in front of her was a beautiful little girl.
Ha La looked sideways at Tanya.
Tanya said in a panic:
"It's okay, I'm a little dizzy. Let's go back upstairs and take a rest."
Ha La said in sudden realization:
"Sister Tanya, do you want me to speak to Mr. Parr? He is in the bedroom upstairs."
Tanya suppressed her fear and asked:
"Which one is that?"
Ha La is a little strange:
"It's the second room on the right side of the stairs. Isn't he always there?"
How could that be? Isn’t that Mr. Wright’s room?
Tanya put her hands behind her back to hide her trembling arms.
The primitive impulse from the reptilian brain drove Tanya to turn around and flee from the room, constantly whispering in her ears, telling her that as long as she turned around now, she could escape from this extremely twisted evil madness.
She couldn't move.
Benita is still here, along with Mr. Wright and Miss Holla. She can't just run away.
She was determined, she wanted to protect her sister, and she wanted to repay Mr. Wright.
For some reason, Tanya told herself in her heart that this was not a mental problem with her, but that there really was some kind of supernatural power existing in this house.
There is an evil force spreading here. He wants to devour everyone's precious memories and emotions, and vows to crawl from hell to the world.
Tanya clenched her hands into fists and suppressed her nervousness deep in her heart:
"Miss Alice, can I ask you some very strange questions?"
Ha La jumped back, sat on the sofa, and looked at Tanya with bright eyes.
Tanya asked:
"Who is your uncle?"
Hala answered without hesitation:
"It's Mr. Parr."
Halla's rationality began to disappear, and her cerebral cortex and prefrontal lobe did not produce any response, but its more primitive and ancient parts released the most primitive desires.
Modern science claims that the brainstem, or part of the body known as the reptilian brain, does not govern all emotions, including fear.
They were wrong.
The emotion that appeared in Tanya's mind was not ordinary fear, but something that was born earlier than what ordinary people call fear.
A deep silence that could not be perceived by language and reason occupied Tanya's whole body. This was not the human fear of beasts, the human fear of death, or the human fear of the unknown.
It was Tanya's absolute instinct that transcended reason. She was afraid of something that existed forever, a great shadow that had appeared before the human brain evolved completely.
She gritted her teeth and fought alone to surround her, screaming wildly to make her surrender and kneel down. Countless evil spirits danced around her, mocking the fragile will of mortals.
She didn't give in.
As a low roar burst out of his throat, all illusions and strange colors disappeared.
If she were an ordinary person, she would have been able to confirm that she was suffering from a mental illness, but Tanya had never felt so clear-headed.
Only today can she see the world clearly. The haze that shrouded her eyes in the past has dissipated.
Tanya took a deep breath, feeling the oxygen rushing into her lungs, then combining with red blood cells from the capillaries and entering the brain, providing her with the power to overcome her instincts.
