13. Disputes and Abnormalities
At seven o'clock in the evening, looking up from Chenxi Town, you can see that the sunset dyed the sky red is about to set.
Outside the wall of a house made of white bricks, countless guards came and went, and their patrols merged into the entire town and gathered again here.
A town guard repays his superiors:
"Sheriff! We found Ogden's body!"
The sheriff extinguished the cigarette in his hand and his eyes widened:
"What did you say?"
Although this is bad news, it is better than not knowing nothing. He is already too tired.
The last time that this quiet town had a murder occurred seven years ago, it was an accident, and the last time it happened before he took office.
Finally, there was specific news, the sheriff asked:
"What about Mrs. Lester and her children."
The guard looked puzzled:
"No news, and we have blocked the scene, you need to come and see it in person."
The guards brought the sheriff to a piece of woodland not far from Leicester's house, and some traces of dirt were visible from the edge.
It should be a common corpse burial. It seems that the prisoners don't have much time to deal with the corpse, but the sheriff feels a little strange about the expressions of the surrounding guards.
However, when he saw the body, he almost vomited out the supper.
"How could there be such a pervert!"
Leicester's body had begun to decay, but it was not the one that made the sheriff feel disgusting.
Instead, his skull was lifted alive, but the brain inside disappeared, and there was no trace of residual brain matter on the surface of the bones, and it seemed that they were licked by some creature.
The guard next to him said:
"The forensic doctor said that there were signs of gnawing on the head of the corpse, and this was not the scene of the crime. The most important thing is that his death should be far longer than his missing world."
The sheriff focused all his attention in the first half of the sentence, and he asked with a blank face:
"Just like the corpse of the black bear?"
"Yes."
The sheriff came to his senses and looked at his subordinate beside him and asked:
"Where is the mayor? Come and find the mayor for me quickly. We need to notify the police station in the city immediately."
"We don't know..."
The sheriff shouted out of control
"Then look for it! Until you find it."
He was emotionally excited not because of the fright, but because he realized a terrible fact.
A monster that can easily kill black bears is wandering around the town and regards humans as prey.
So who will be the next one to die? How many people will die before the disaster will end?
This is a nightmare in Chenxi Town.
And in Hevan's hut.
Rebecca sat upright on the rattan chair, staring blankly at the empty wooden wall.
Jimmy squatted on the ground with her knees in her hands, without saying a word.
Neri rummaged through the kitchen, trying to find some food.
"Hala, where do you usually put your food?"
Hora replied calmly:
"Is Sister Neri hungry? But it's not time to eat yet?"
Nelly stopped the movements in her hand and looked at Hora and said:
"A little, no, I'm not hungry, I don't know, I just feel like I have to do something, other than that I really don't know what to do if I break down too."
Hora stretched out his little hand and held Nelly's slender fingers:
"It's okay, there's Hewen."
Neri couldn't help it, and asked with a little crying voice:
"What if Ogden is dead? What can I do if Hevan is no matter how powerful? And why do you seem to be not afraid at all? Have you always known Hevan's secret?"
Hora and Nelly looked at each other:
"I don't know, but I believe Hevan will protect us."
"Why can you believe him so much? I mean, although he is indeed very powerful and a good person, if you don't know him at all, how can you be sure that Hevan can solve all the problems?"
Hora turned her head and looked at Nelly in confusion:
"I can't be sure, but I believe Hevan?"
Neri was a little uncomfortable when she was seen by Hora. The unique ideas this little girl had made her unable to understand.
"What if Hevin fails?"
Hora's tone was firm:
"He won't fail."
"He is not God, so how can anyone never fail?"
"I know, I won't let..." Hora paused, her tone was already a little displeased, "He won't fail."
Neri didn't know what this girl was, but she was definitely not Hewen's distant niece, nor was she a normal human.
After thinking about it carefully, for some reason, when Neri saw Hara, she was surprisingly fond of her at first sight, not because of her appearance, but because of her expression, her posture, and many small movements she accidentally did.
Not only her, it seems that everyone who sees her will feel pity, as does her mother, and so does Jimmy. According to Nelly's understanding of her younger brother, the immature child is likely to have his resentment on Hora.
But this idea never seemed to appear in the mind of the adolescent boy, as if such a thing was impossible and shouldn't have happened.
Even when she was talking to her now, Hora still made her feel a sense of identity and security. Even at this moment, she could not even feel a trace of disgust and fear.
‘Maybe Hevin gave her some magical props.’ Neri comforted herself like this, and soon the idea turned into an unshakable fact and took root in her mind.
Jimmy stood up and walked to Nelly, lowered her head and looked gloomy.
Neri asked first and foremost:
"What's wrong?"
Jimmy raised her head and said with a sneer:
"I figured it out, you like him, Hevin?"
Nelly blushed and scolded:
"Jimmy, what do you mean?"
Jimmy took a deep breath, as if to dispel the fear deep in her heart:
"If you don't like him? Why do you have to talk to him and put your boyfriend before your father? Your father is dead, do you still have the heart to talk about love?"
Nelly clenched her fists and shook her teeth and said:
"You should take a good look at yourself. You are like a mad dog now. If you weren't my brother, I would have beaten you down with one punch."
Jimmy looked at Nelly with a cunning look.
Neri glanced at her mother's direction. She seemed to have not noticed the children's quarrel at all, and was still staring straight at the wall.
"Nelly doesn't like Hevan." said Hora on the side.
"What?" Jimmy wanted to stare at Hara with fierce eyes, but the moment she saw her, the boy's heart softened and the resentment in his eyes disappeared.
Hora explained softly:
"Hervin said that Neri doesn't like Hever, so Neri can't like Hever."
Jimmy fell silent when she heard this, but Nelly could see that Jimmy, who had not been able to vent her interrupted anger, would find a new target for the anger.
Neri knew that she was the goal.
Dong, Dong.
Someone knocked on the door.
