189. Past

Hewen patted the girl's back gently without saying anything.

Hevin just made her feel like she was here.

Always here.

Uncontrollable panic surged in the depths of Ha La's eyes. Although she may no longer be afraid that humans will hurt her, the pain caused by that time has long been buried deep in Ha La's soul.

, no matter how many times it deforms, it cannot be shaken off.

There is no doubt that it is already a part of her.

As the palms of her hands continued to pat Ha La's back steadily and forcefully, the girl's sobs gradually subsided, and her disordered breathing gradually became stable.

Ha La raised her head, her red eyes flashing with crystal tears:

"Hevin, let's run quickly, they found us."

Hewen did not immediately agree to Ha La, but comforted:

"Don't worry, they can't hurt you anymore, and..."

Hevin's calm voice made Ha La no longer afraid for a moment.

"We found them."

Kelly raised her head and saw huge spider limbs stretching down the stairs.

A terrifying spider that was at least three meters high climbed down from the ceiling and walls and stopped in front of several people. A suffocating fishy wind was sprayed from its mouthparts.

Sixteen evil green and white eyes were staring at everyone in the room, and they stayed especially long on Kelly's mother.

Kelly blinked and dismissed the scene behind the scenes from her mind.

There are so many behind-the-scenes images of Professor Hewen. This one can even scare people who are afraid of giant objects and bugs to their peeing on the spot.

Kelly made a point of not actively thinking about whether there was any hidden meaning behind this image.

Hewen asked:

"What does Ms. Latona do?"

Latona answered naturally:

"I work in a pharmaceutical factory, conducting research and experiments on new drugs."

Hewen nodded with deep understanding and said:

"It is truly a great profession, a cause in which countless time and energy have been sacrificed to benefit mankind."

Latona smiled ashamedly:

"No, I just do this job because I can make money, and I happen to be good at these things."

Hewen's eight pairs of eyes were observing the changes in Latona's expression.

She did feel ashamed when Hevin boasted about her work.

But it's not because her work doesn't benefit mankind.

Hewen said with admiration:

"No, no, no, when you chose to study this subject and engage in this industry, you were making a contribution to all mankind."

Latona smiled and said:

"Then I will accept your compliment, thank you Mr. Hevin."

She was undoubtedly feeling guilty, and she wanted Hevin to end this topic quickly.

She doesn't know whether her work can benefit mankind, but it must have harmed many lives.

If Latona regarded shapeshifters as living beings.

Hewen blinked and said playfully:

"Deserved."

Iona whispered to Kelly:

"Why do I feel that the atmosphere is weird?"

Kelly swallowed:

"Um."

She no longer had the energy to answer Iona.

She vaguely sensed that something very bad was about to happen.

Kelly stood up suddenly:

"Mom, let's go out and reminisce, and don't disturb Professor Hewen."

Hewen said:

"I don't feel disturbed at all, but I'd better let you mother and daughter have some time alone."

Hewen said goodbye to several people with a smile.

Kelly and Iona both wanted to run out immediately and walk at the front.

Latona looked at Hewen a few more times before politely smiling and leaving.

Several people walked at different speeds. Hewen watched them disappear completely before closing the door.

Snapped.

The person behind the door turned into a black shadow and walked across the wall at high speed, and instantly appeared in front of Ha La's bedroom door.

Ha La sat on the bed with dull eyes, not yet fully recovered from the panic just now.

Hewen sat on the edge of the bed:

"Is that aunt a member of the Forerunner Institute?"

Hala nodded, but then shook her head.

Hevin touched the girl's head. Ha La seemed to enjoy this moment, closing her eyes and letting herself be immersed in the touch.

Hala said:

"Assistant sister is not a bad person."

Hewen asked step by step:

"Why do you call her assistant sister?"

"Because dad calls her assistant."

When the word "dad" came out of her mouth, the girl's voice trembled.

"Can you tell me something?"

The room fell into silence.

For a long time, Hewen just put his hand gently on the girl's head and touched the ends of her hair from time to time.

The girl hugged her knees tightly with her hands and shrank her body:

"Um.

"At the beginning, I didn't know anything."

Hewen looked at her with calm eyes.

"I can't feel anything, I have no eyes, no ears, no nose, no tongue, and no skin.

“It’s just pain, and the basic reaction of seeking advantages and avoiding disadvantages occasionally.

"Until one day, I felt death.

"Under the control of instinct, my body began to condense, deform, and grow, and then I turned into a girl.

"I survived.

"I didn't know what I had become at first, but now that I think about it, it must be because I looked like my father's daughter when I transformed.

"His real daughter.

"Then..." There was struggle on Ha La's face.

"Then my father would hit me, in many ways, it hurt..."

Ha La did not describe in detail what she had experienced during this period, and Hevin did not ask further questions.

The girl's voice sounded a bit crying.

"I tried changing back to my original appearance, but that would kill me. My father burned me with fire and didn't stop until I returned to my human form.

"I couldn't escape. I thought I would never be able to escape. Even then..."

Ha La was a little scared, but not from the past, but from the horror that was so close at hand.

"I kept calling him daddy, hoping he would be gentler, but nothing could stop him."

Ha La raised her eyelids, but Hewen didn't show any strange expression.

Hewen did have strong emotions, which was the anger that was deeply suppressed in his chest.

Ha La suddenly said:
