Chapter 13 The Startled Horse
Chapter 13 Frightened Horse
When Xin You and the other three arrived at the foot of the mountain, the driver was jumping and cursing in the street.
"Lao Zhang, who made you so angry?" a guard asked curiously.
The coachman pointed at the carriage and his face turned black: "I don't know who killed me a thousand times and stole the door curtain while I was napping!"
The two guards took a closer look, and sure enough, the entrance to the carriage was empty, with no trace of the door curtain.
"How come someone stole the car door curtain?" A guard looked in disbelief.
Another guard suddenly clapped his hands: "I know, it must be the monkey who did it!"
The coachman hurriedly asked what was going on, and the guard gritted his teeth and told him about the monkey's mischief and grabbing Xinyou's hairpin, and about splashing water on his face.
The driver's eyes showed murderous intent: "Damn beast, you should have his skin and brains chopped off!"
Xinyou said sorry to the monkey in her heart.
It was really too much for that monkey to endure.
Xiaolian lost her grip and almost flew out. Fortunately, she was caught by Xinyou and she couldn't help but let out a scream.
The little maid poked her head out of the carriage, her face was fair and pretty, and one of the guards felt excited and blurted out: "Sister Xiaolian, don't you want to eat?"
At this moment, Xiaolian understood how the carriage door curtain came about, and looked at Xin You with admiration in her eyes.
Xiaolian reluctantly curled her lips: "The girl is in a bad mood because she didn't find the jade pendant. Neither the girl nor I are hungry. You guys eat quickly, and we can go on our way after eating."
Xin You looked at the two guards who were chasing after her in a hurry, and suddenly thought of what her mother said jokingly after telling a certain story: Those who are supposed to protect are always late.
There was a cry from behind: "Cousin girl, cousin girl——"
Xin You thought that the reason why Xiao Lian thought she was capable might include stealing car door curtains, so she twitched the corner of her mouth and silently looked away.
The carriage started to gallop, completely ignoring the oncoming pedestrians and just rushed past.
Xin You nodded slightly and got on the carriage, asking Xiao Lian to bring the pastries placed in the carriage to the coachman and the two guards.
There were constant exclamations and screams along the road, and the driver hurriedly loosened his grip on the reins after seeing an ox cart coming from the opposite direction, and rolled down from the carriage.
The people in the carriage were indifferent to the various looks.
Xin You grabbed Xiaolian's hand and comforted her: "Don't be afraid, we will be fine."
"My cousin, hurry up and get in the car. It's already afternoon and it's been too long since you've been out," the coachman urged.
The frightened horse was lying motionless in a pool of blood, and the dagger stabbed into its neck shone coldly in the sun.
"Cousin, are you okay?" The two guards dismounted and asked nervously.
The two guards clasped their fists and said, "Thank you so much, martyr, for saving our cousin."
"Then sit tight." The coachman flicked his whip, and the carriage went from slow to fast, driving on the official road.
There were many pedestrians and carriages on the road. When passing by, they all curiously took a look inside the carriages. Even if they couldn't hear what these people were talking about, they could still see the meaning on their faces: What kind of people were going out in carriages?
I can't even hang up the car door curtain.
The coachman was older and found the soft and sweet pastries more to his taste. He couldn't help but turn his head and glance at the master and servant sitting in the carriage.
It is impossible for any normal person to say that although you saved me, you have to pay for my horse, and Xin You is no exception.
The two held hands and stared silently at the unfamiliar figure on the horse's back. After an unknown amount of time, they suddenly heard a voice from the front: "Hurry up!"
Xin You smiled: "It doesn't matter, it's more comfortable on a day like this without a curtain."
"Are you two okay?" The man who jumped off the horse before it fell to the ground came over.
"Thank you very much, cousin and sister Xiaolian."
She pulled Xiaolian out of the carriage and bowed slightly to the man in red: "Thank you to the righteous man for saving us. We are not in serious trouble."
"It's okay. This righteous man saved Xiaolian and me."
"No, the old servant is afraid that there is no curtain to cover the door, and my cousin is not used to it."
Then, the carriage suddenly sped away for a distance, shaking violently but gradually slowing down. Finally, the frightened horse fell to the ground, the wheels made a harsh friction sound, and the carriage stopped.
"That's good." The man in red clothes looked at the frightened horse that fell to the ground, "The situation is urgent and we have to hurt this horse's life. I wonder if the girl is in trouble?"
The man is dressed in red clothes, his skin is as white as jade, and his eyebrows are as long as feathers. He looks like the most brilliant ink painting outlined on the best white porcelain embryo.
When the carriage really started running, the wind started to pick up, blowing into the carriage. It was refreshing in this hot weather, but it also blew the hair and clothes of the people in the carriage flying around.
Although the frightened horse was charging wildly, fortunately it was pulling a carriage carrying people, and the speed was not exaggerated. The man clamped his legs on the horse's belly, pulled the reins hard, and narrowly avoided the oncoming bullock cart and rushed over.
The two guards stuffed the pastry in two mouthfuls, praising how delicious the pastry was.
As soon as Xin You made up his mind, he saw a figure jumping up from a running horse onto the back of a frightened horse.
"Thanks to the righteous man who killed the frightened horse in time, we were not injured and no innocent passers-by were hurt. I don't know how to call the righteous man. When I return home to report to my elders, I might as well come and thank you."
Xinyou looked over.
The two guards were thick-skinned people, and they couldn't bear it. They approached the driver and urged him to go faster.
It doesn't take courage to restrain such a skeleton. At least she couldn't eat dinner today, and she didn't know whether she would be able to return to normal tomorrow.
Xiaolian was so sad about Kou Qingqing's death that she didn't care about anything else. Xin You not only sympathized with Kou Qingqing's death, but also felt physically uncomfortable.
Then we can only——
"Girl, the horse is frightened!" Xiaolian's body shook in the carriage, her face turned pale with fright.
Xiaolian's exclamation sounded: "Girl!"
Noticing the driver's gaze, Xin You asked, "Is there something wrong, Uncle Zhang?"
Maybe everything Xinyou did these days was so reliable to Xiaolian. When she heard this calm voice, Xiaolian suddenly became quiet.
The wind seems to be getting stronger.
When Xin You was sixteen years old, she had never seen such a good-looking man.
"Since you missed the meal, you three should eat some pastries to fill your stomachs."
Xin You spent all her strength resisting the faint stench lingering around her. Fortunately, there was enough ventilation without the curtain, which made her feel more comfortable.
Staring closely at the approaching bullock cart, Xin You quickly made a judgment in her mind: at the speed of the cart at this time, it would be too risky to take Xiaolian out of the cart.
"There's no need to say thank you, it's just a small effort." The man in red clothes declined gently.
"You're welcome." The man in red clothes nodded slightly, turned around and walked towards the horse that was following him even though it was no longer under the control of its owner.
"I don't know what the name of the righteous man is, and where is your residence?" As the man in red clothes turned around, the guard who shouted suddenly paused and his expression changed.
The man in red clothes looked calm and took the reins.
Seeing the man in red get on his horse, Xin You shouted: "Justice, please stay."
