Chapter 117: A silent night (Part 1)

The golden "non-day or night" dusk moment lasted only about fifteen minutes.

When the dazzling light reflected the last ray of light from some scattered glass of the city, the entire site was occupied by endless, trembling, suppressed darkness.

The moon is bright and the stars are sparse, the "vulture" is hovering, the sound of water is sparse, and the roar is emerging.

As he walked up the stairs of the relatively complete building with a dark tone in the middle of the block, Wright also marveled at how quickly the night came in this world.

When I first climbed to the second floor, there was still a sky of gold and orange intertwined outside, but when I climbed to the third floor, it turned into a crimson world. When I climbed to the middle of the fifth and sixth floors, the whole world became a pure black situation, without the vitality that I felt when I entered the city before.

"Wright." Brett's thick voice came from Wright, and his footsteps also came to an abrupt end.

"What's wrong?" Wright asked as he stared at Brett's slightly ethereal body outline as the moonlight seeped into some rooms with open doors and windows.

"Or, turn on the flashlight. Although this thing is not useful in Socrates and Chekavsk, it is useful in the wilderness and city ruins."

As he said that, Bret took out a metallic cylindrical object from his tactical trousers pocket and handed it to him.

"Flashlight? Isn't the Empire's power system incomplete? Don't we use handheld kerosene lamps for many times when performing tasks? Why, is this a new technology product of the Empire?" Wright "skilledly" playing with the "Flashlight" in his hand.

After pressing the button in a familiar position, with a "pop", a very quick sound, a white diffusing circular aperture appeared in front of him.

"Yes, it's new. Remember you like to play with machinery before. Although you have never developed any results, your perseverance has always been the object of our learning. Being able to use this is your talent." Brett teased.

I really don't know the irony... it's still an encouragement, but it shouldn't be a problem to treat it as encouragement.

By the way, I remember Brett mentioned when he was in Socra, but I was a liberal arts student in the world and knew nothing about steam machinery and natural sciences, but at least I didn’t know much about it, except for knowing a few terms such as “Newton’s First Law” and “quantum mechanics”.

Since Brett mentioned that he was interested in machinery several times and these scattered memory fragments that could not be touched without any prompts, they might not be considered important things, right?

Otherwise, I would have exposed my identity as a time traveler, right?

"This flashlight, named by the Empire, symbolizes a ray of light that eternally appears in the long night. It's quite poetic, right?" Brett's voice interrupted Wright's thoughts.

"Yes, it feels very poetic." Wright echoed and nodded.

"And its efficacy matches its name, eternal light. The battery of this flashlight is said to have used a new fuel, which can be guaranteed to be used for at least fifteen years as long as the internal components are not damaged. It is said that this is the result of interpretation from some documents of the old Cruisd Empire." Bret said proudly.

Half of his pride comes from the fact that our empire can use such effective technology products, while the other half is from the Sunnese Empire in the field of science that is gradually catching up with and even surpassing the legendary great empire with strong military, prosperous culture, happy residents, and strong strength.

"New fuel?" Wright played with the "Yongguang" flashlight in his hand and tried to cut open the lid that bound the battery behind him.

"Don't move, there is...uh, there is a mysterious power. Never open it, otherwise your whole body will be red and swollen, your skin will ulcerate, and finally your whole body will turn white, and the blood-flowing pus and blood will die in pain." Bret warned, reaching out and holding Wright's left hand, ready to move.

"You won't tell me that mysterious power is radiation, right? A world with incomplete electricity can use such a dangerous thing? Sure enough, the technology tree point in this world is crooked." Wright complained with a wry smile.

He hurriedly checked his hands. Fortunately, wearing tactical gloves, the flashlight did not bring him any discomfort that he could feel immediately. It seemed that the metal shell of the "Yongguang" brand flashlight had a powerful radiation-proof function.

"It should be...radiation." Brett smiled embarrassedly:

"However, the documents left by Cruzed suggest the production method. As long as the derivatives of Erim ore are extracted reasonably, the batteries are wrapped in lead, and the shell is made of refined products of "dark ore", it will not cause any damage. This batch of products was first used in several legions near the Zhnetsk. They used them for about fifteen or sixteen years. After no harm, I bought and reserved a batch last year for emergencies."

"If there is no danger, this thing is really good. But as a friend, I want to remind you a little bit." Wright said solemnly.

"What?" Brett asked casually with a cynical smile.

"If an item is glowing and you really can't find the source of energy, I suggest you stay away quickly. Believe me, if you don't follow this rule, you will be more miserable than the people you say that "dead in pain." But," Wright patted Brett's shoulder slightly and said:

"You said that the Socratic Council people have been laid flat, and the management and technology of the entire city have not been improved at all. But if we change our thinking, we can, and we are also interpreting and learning from the technology of the Cruzde Empire, slowly developing ourselves, and finally creating a new era of technological change, right?"

"What you want to say is that with the help of the power of technology, we can eliminate all the unintentional people and losers, and finally step through the wasteland era and usher in a new era of stars, right?" Bret asked back.

This chapter is not finished yet, please click on the next page to continue reading the exciting content behind! "The Age of Stars, yes, the Age of Stars. A beautiful future, a prosperous future, a hopeful future."

Wright looked at the white light emitted by the "Yongguang" flashlight in his and Brett's hands, as if he was seeing a path to a wonderful, bright, and hopeful future world.

However……

Ao Wow!

A wolf-like roar cut through the slightly silent night sky, interrupting Wright's brief reverie about the future.

"Let's go, Brett, find a place to stay first and make some defense. I'm worried that the city at night will be 'very busy'." Wright patted Brett's shoulder twice and continued to crawl up on the abandoned staircase covered with spider webs and dust.

This relatively complete abandoned building is almost nine stories high. Unlike some of the "tube buildings" that Wright saw in this city, its style is closer to the common style of the Western Land.

After all, one type is built for war, and it should be the product of the empire's initial attempt to restore urban order.

The latter category is the commercial buildings built by the empire after the urban situation stabilizes, which need to take into account both practicality and commerciality.

After climbing upwards for about two or three floors, Wright barely saw a sign covered with rust and dark red residue with the help of the flashlight.

It was round and was originally hung high above the head about three meters, but due to the passage of time, the nails on the signs had loosened a lot.

The number "6" written in Western Lu common language is presented above. If it weren't for the exact same sign, Wright wouldn't have linked this "6" with the number "9".

Pushing the light of the flashlight towards the three surrounding rooms, Wright found that the doors of the rooms were all open, and there were still some moldy footprints left. It seemed that they had been looted by people from all over the country, including the so-called "site hunters".

The first and second rooms are in a messy and very dilapidated interior, and even the windows are gone, leaving only window frames that can be filled with the breeze and broken wood scattered all over the ground.

The third room is generally clean.

Wright pushed open the well-kept iron door, entered the room with Brett, and then buckled the simple copper door lock that was covered with black dirt, but could still be used, and began to observe the internal environment.

The floor of this house does not have any traces of marble tiles or mahogany bases, but rather a shallow layer is covered with cheap cement.

After entering the door, there is an iron mechanical table in the middle, with a cheap vase carved from wood on it, and a few small wooden benches scattered on the ground.

In addition, in the room inside, there is an oak desk of similar style as seen in the Dream Maker, which is a wide wooden bed without any mattresses and bedding, and the only valuable gas lamp hanging above the head, which looks like a tiger with a bloody mouth.

However, the pipes embedded inside the wall, exposed slightly rust-red, have long lost their function.

Perhaps the only function left is to leave some traces of human beings living in it.

"It's safe here. At least we can sleep well here with the iron doors and dilapidated windows. What did Miyou do? He was so slow to ask women." Brett complained, with his hands on his hips.

The light of the flashlight in his hand also shook messily under his massive movements, making Wright, who had turned his body, feel a slight trance.

Just as Wright opened and closed his mouth and wanted to help Mi You explain, they suddenly heard a messy, unruly footsteps.

From far to near, from bottom to top.

"Be careful, Wright, turn off the flashlight." Brett warned in a low voice.

The perception of being an imperial soldier told him that he needed to act cautiously in an unfamiliar environment.

Immediately afterwards, he stood on the left side of the iron gate and made a gesture to Wright, indicating that he would hide on the right side of the iron gate.

At the same time, he slowly took out the "Federal-01" pistol, which was tied to the holster at his waist, who was asked back from Wright, and whispered the bullet, held the gun in both hands, and looked outside along the gap of the iron door with a cautious look.

Wright also learned Brett's movements and took out the close-fitting "Mad Bear" pistol, holding the gun in both hands, and looking out of the iron gate with a serious face.

Dada dada...

Dada, dada...

Dada dada dada dada dada dada dada...

As the footsteps got closer, Wright seemed to hear more than two people.

Moreover, some of the footsteps were mixed with an inexplicable sense of heaviness, and a faint and not human-like aura.

"Brother Wright, help me, I didn't bring any weapons!"

"Miyou, it's Miyou's voice." Wright exclaimed.

Then, two "grapes" emitting scarlet light flashed quickly under the dim light, and the subsequent rapid knocks on the door.

Dong, Dong.

As a last resort, Wright hurriedly turned on the "Yongguang" flashlight and shone it outside the house.

Scarlet eyes, dark red hair, and traces of bright red liquid remained on the corners of his mouth.

And the short [Prayer] woman behind him who was led by a rope and had messy brown hair.

Just as Wright wanted to open the locked iron door, Bret suddenly reached out to stop him.

Immediately afterwards, he glanced at the two of them with a sharp and cautious look, and still held the "Federal-01" pistol tightly in his hand, questioning in a thick voice:

"You are Miyou, right? Where did we first meet?"

"'Permanent Momentum' train,'Permanent Momentum' train. I am really Mi You, not a lost person or a sequential monster with the ability to change shapes. Let us in, there is a big monster behind us." Mi You slapped the iron gate anxiously.

Brett and Wright looked at each other, and after nodding, Wright quickly opened the door lock and put the two in a mess.

With the help of the flashlight, Wright glanced at the two of them in confusion.

He found that at this time Miyou was pulling a rope made of rags made of black clothes torn, and was holding the [Prayer] woman, as if she was deliberately avoiding contact with her.

Looking closely, his military green uniform was cut into a thick and long hole by some sharp object near the "chimney" badge.

The cut flesh inside was shining with scarlet blood, slightly revealing the bones under the skin, but fortunately, countless small flesh-colored lines were protruding out of the skin on both sides of the crack, wriggling inward along the wound.

Because of Mi You's dual identities as a blood clan and a lost person, his wound healing speed is exponentially faster than that of humans, and even reaches a level visible to the naked eye.

The woman behind him seemed to have not been hurt at all, but was extremely pale due to the fright, her lips and hands trembled unconsciously, and her face was haggard and panicked.

However, before Bret could ask Miyou what danger he had encountered, the four of them heard another roar like a wolf.

But this time it seems closer, stronger, and more angry.

And it is mixed with heavy footsteps that can only bring about a huge body that makes the ground tremble slightly.

Dong, Dong, Dong!

As the footsteps became closer and closer, and suddenly stopped, Wright quickly called the flashlight outside the already open door.

One of them was about two meters tall, with green skin all over his body, and a burning liquid was shining on his chest and heart. A huge and unintentional person with red and bright light appeared in the sight of several people.

Wright noticed that the head of this heartless man was no longer a human, but instead looked like a wolf with black and white velvets, which seemed to be more similar to the Husky.

Moreover, the hair does not cover the whole body, but is concentrated on the joints of the head, chest, arms, legs, and near the ankles, with a unique beauty.

With the help of the flashlight, Wright also noticed that this insincere body is very strong, with the beauty of human muscles and a coordinated figure of golden ratio.

If it weren't for the ten sharp claws stretching out with their hands, and the drooping scarlet tail behind them, which resembles a deep-sea octopus, compared to the simple wolf head and a strong figure, the latter would have attracted the attention of many special hobbies.

However, he is an unintentional person and the enemy who spreads the virus and brings disaster.
