Chapter 87 The Base of Wild Tourist Group (Part 1)
"Here, Luo Ni." Marco's slightly hoarse voice came into his right ear.
After getting rid of the psychedelic haze and hangover-like drowsiness, Luo Ne took a deep breath, opened the left door, and stepped onto the solid, dry, warm land.
He was not sure whether those who had just been pure dreams or the magic source power surged into it.
But as consciousness and thinking gradually recovered, the remaining memories of the "dream" just now quickly disappeared from his brain, as if they had never appeared.
"Where is this?" Luo Nai asked, looking at the bare ground and the dry, growing crookedly, like a hangover god carved.
"Base." Talia and Marco replied in unison.
"Base? But there is nothing here?" Luo Nai looked around in confusion, trying to find some clues from the flat ground inside the field of view and the slightly raised hills at the edge.
But after careful observation, he gave up.
This vast land that has fallen on any snow and ice seems to belong to the plain, similar to the deserted area near the "big railway" in Cruisd. There are no trees, and the shadows of animals and plants are very rare.
However, such areas are not deserts, including the extreme cold zones with human strongholds, and still have temperate continental climates. As long as summer enters summer and the temperature rises, several seasonal rivers will reappear, bringing a rare short-term abundance and prosperity time.
But here, something seems wrong.
Luo Nai finally found the clue:
"The spring has only begun in these two months, and there is at least one month left before summer. Even if the ice and snow here melt, it should form a large amount of mud, which will not be so dry. Could it be that you have used some kind of magic power skill, or the order monsters that cover up the base? Or... the entrance to the base? Just like the Lost Cult in the South?"
"Talent." Talia praised without hesitation and raised her thumbs up.
"Yes, the Federal Council does not recognize the existence of us 'independent armed forces'. If it weren't for the 'intentional people' threatening every day, they would have wished they could have hit us those shells." Talia explained:
"They have the Aerospace Army and the ability to patrol the north and find the medium and large bases we have built, and those lost and ‘unintentioned people’ also have ‘singular species’ that have evolved wings, threatening us all the time.
"Your guess is right. Our base is built underground, just like several other 'independent armed forces'. But most of our members are humans and weak-capable superpowers. If there is no aboveground building at all, it is a fantasy to find the exact location in a wasteland without any roads and almost no settlements."
Marco also stepped forward to add and said to Luo Nai:
"With ground buildings at least our members can better locate and find the base entrance. After all, we need to go to federally controlled strongholds every once in a while, or abandoned settlements to search for supplies. The output of underground agriculture is very limited, and the crops produced by ground agriculture need to undergo complex disinfection procedures, which is difficult to ensure absolute supply."
"But for safety, we cannot relocate the base to the south, the Federal Council will not really accept us, and the Lost always sees us as a threat."
"Malco." Luo Nai widened his sapphire-like eyes and stared at the empty area ahead and asked:
"You will have a unique way to see the ground buildings, right? I feel some magic power fluctuations. If my experience and cognition are not biased, there should be a protective shield with hidden functions here."
"Indeed, your inferences are correct so far." Marco nodded, leaned close to Luo Zi's ear and whispered:
"If a talent like you is not our comrades, then you must not become a lackey of the Federation. For the 'Big Brother', the threat that cannot be fought for needs to be eliminated. I believe in your master, the 'Machie Lord', and maybe the 'Big Brother' will do it myself."
After saying that, he touched his beard that had been stained with dust and blood, and a sharp flashed through his slightly blue eyes. He patted Luo Zi's shoulder with his left hand wrapped in bandages, while taking the glasses in his exit bag and stuffing them into Luo Zi's hand.
"This is the glasses made by 'Big Brother' himself. The lenses use crystals that can be excavated everywhere in the north, but they need to be tempered by special heralds and magic source potions to work." Marco said to Luo Nie:
"We named this type of glasses 'Mirror of Enlightenment'. You see, it is more like a thicker goggles for explorers. Even if you don't use it to find a base, it can effectively protect your eyes from wind, sand and filth."
"It's really heavy." Luo Nan weighed the "mirrors of enlightenment" close to the appearance of the small rectangular bricks and stone, and took a closer look.
Its lenses only account for a small part, and the rest are mechanical metal splicing bodies, which are full of a very inconsistent sense of technology brought about by the interweaving of steam civilization and future civilization.
After pulling the leather rope and putting on glasses, Luo Nai saw the huge protective cover of the hidden ground building.
It originally looked empty and the very flat ground was almost covered. I don’t know if it was the function of glasses or other things, but the protective cover appeared in a pure blue hemisphere. It could only see its existence, and could not see any existence inside through it.
Immediately afterwards, Marco pulled Luo and took a few steps forward. Under the bright light emitted by the magic power of the Talia metal system, the blue protective cover revealed a door-shaped gap that could only accommodate one person.
With blue ripples filled with vision flashing, Luo Nai finally saw an industrial settlement.
Taking off the "Mirror of Enlightenment", Luo Nai first looked up at the sky. The protective cover was transparent and could still sense its weak power, but it did not seem to exist.
The sun hanging between the slightly blue sky still emits bright and warm light without any obstruction.
Following Marco and Talia across the cement streets, Luo Nai observed the surroundings.
This chapter is not over, please click on the next page to continue reading! There are not many ground buildings in this settlement, and it should be only about two or three blocks of industrial cities like Chekavsk.
From a distance, there are no residential buildings here, only four or five factories with rolling black smoke, two towering military watchtowers, and an area for docking trucks, mechanical tanks and other military vehicles, as well as a military equipment storage point.
Overall, the place looks particularly clean, tidy, and has not been washed by time. There are not many members of the "Wild Tourist Group" carrying supplies and patrolling everywhere, but they are all carrying out tasks in an orderly manner, which is different from the general independent armed forces who manage chaos in Luo Nai's impression.
After entering it, Luo Nai still didn't see any plants. It might be that this time period is indeed not suitable for their growth.
The style here is a staggering black and gray and dark white, with no more than two floors of buildings except the observation deck. But overall, compared with the villages and towns controlled by the federally controlled, there is no mottledness left by war and the times, and it is full of the sense of security and heaviness brought by the military strongholds of steam civilization.
After walking through two temporary checkpoints in succession and sending off the guards, Talia and Marco took Luo Nai into an inconspicuous two-story building and took the elevator leading to the underground.
Bang, bang, bang, bang... ding!
As the elevator door opened by the cage, Luo Nai finally felt the strong atmosphere of life.
Under Marco's introduction, Luo Nai learned that this is the underground floor of the entire "Wild Tourist Group" base, a large square. Standing on the edge and looking around, Luo Nai felt as if he was in a truly city under the jurisdiction of human civilization.
The searchlight on the top kept emitting light downwards, making it not as bright as outside, but it was not as bright as it was under a dim dome.
Although the neighborhood here is not neat and dirty, it is lively enough.
Luo Nai clearly said that in the desolate ice fields and the wastelands filled with war and killing, the liveliness represents soberness, while quietness will lead to mania.
These two days are public holidays at the base. Many members who have just returned from the mission are accompanying their families in the square or relaxing.
There is also a small commercial street not far away. Standing at the junction with the square, Luo Nai found that although there are not many shops open for business.
Fortunately, although the sparrow is small, it is full of all organs. In addition to a restaurant that makes oriental dishes, there are also several small shops selling machinery, materials, daily necessities, clothes, shoes and hats, but there are no stores related to the sale of weapons.
However, Marco and Talia obviously did not intend to let Luo Nai relax now. Instead of entering the commercial street, they walked towards the center of the square, erected a mechanical statue with more than half built, walked into the underground passage below filled with dim light, and came to the residential area on the next floor.
After bypassing several residential areas, they finally arrived at the deepest point, the "manager-specific dormitory building" of Marco.
The residential areas in the underground base are still slightly different from the above-ground areas controlled by the federally controlled one by one. The top of the building here is connected to the top. Walking between them, it seems like you are on a flat grid line. The building is very compact and has no three-dimensional sense.
Due to the internal regulations of the "Wild Tourist Group", women cannot enter the male residential building unless they are sworn married. Therefore, Talia had to go to the "comprehensive management area" on the lower two floors, leaving Marco to settle first.
Fortunately, there were not many people in the residential area during this period, only a few of them. After entering the small building and entering the spacious large room of Marco, the one who entered Luo Na's vision was a strange middle-aged man dressed in sloppy and unshaven bearded.
Next to him was a dismembered small "exotic monster". Except for the mechanical heart and semi-metalized skeleton placed on the black mechanical table in front of him, the rest of the cut parts were being held in his hand and roasted with a small flamethrower.
The "scent" of food filled the room. Seeing that the meat was ripe, the sloppy man actually feasted in front of the two of them.
