Chapter 119 The wolf going south(1/2)
Chapter 119 The wolf heading south
"Ed, I have always considered you a true brother!"
In the cold and deep tombs of Winterfell, King Robert spoke.
The rough voice echoed in the silent passage.
"His Majesty……"
"What nonsense, Your Majesty, call me Robert!" Duke Eddard just started to start, but was interrupted by the king.
"Robert." Duke Eddard felt a warmth rise in his heart, and the strangeness and estrangement that had not occurred for more than ten years seemed to disappear at this moment.
The man in front of him is still the lawless Robert Baratheon.
Duke Eddard was no longer restrained: "Back then, we drank together, fought together, and accepted...Jon's teachings together."
Speaking of Jon Arryn's name, his tone was full of sadness: "I have never forgotten the friendship between us, so no matter what you ask for, I will agree to it."
"Okay, then follow me to King's Landing, be my Hand of the King, and help me manage this damn country!"
Robert shook his head bitterly: "Frankly speaking, it doesn't seem good. Lysa was frightened by her husband's death, and she fled back to the Eagle's Nest with her son. But Jon had no brothers, and he only had one son.
How could I let them stay in the valley orphaned and widowed? Moreover, she believed that the 'Red Viper' poisoned Jon, and wrote a letter asking me to avenge him."
As soon as he finished speaking, he pushed hard.
Caitlin didn't respond to her husband at the bedside. Her hair was messy, her clothes looked like they hadn't been washed for several days, and her eyes were extremely red and swollen, but she looked at her unconscious son without blinking.
Bran Stark on the tree lowered his head and said to the little wolf below.
Bran continued to climb, jumping from the tree to the roof of the weapons depot, then to the roof of the guard room, and finally climbed to the outer wall of the ruined tower.
Robert said no more.
This is the child of his enemy, but it is also the child of his sister.
Bran screamed and flew out of the window, and the ground was crashing into him at a crazy speed.
Bran couldn't remember when he started to like climbing. His mother always said that he could climb before he learned to walk. Then, the high walls in the castle became his playground.
The sarcophagus in the middle is carved with the face of Lord Eddard's father, the previous Duke of the North, Rickard Stark.
They are always trying to stop Bran from this dangerous hobby.
Hanging in mid-air, Bran took a moment to rest.
Duke Eddard fell into silence. In a daze, he seemed to hear his sister Lyanna's murmur before she died -
"He hasn't woken up yet?"
His eyes were full of nostalgia and pain, as if this could bring his former fiancée back to the world.
If he was higher up, he would be able to see the group of crows. He even brought corn kernels specially to feed those gluttons.
Jon Snow stared into his father's eyes, and finally couldn't help asking the question hidden in his heart:
"Father, I am going to the Great Wall to become a night watchman. Can you tell me who my mother is?"
"She is a Stark, she belongs here." Lord Eddard retorted calmly.
The closed sarcophagus was carved with the deceased's appearance in life, a huge roaring direwolf statue curled up at their feet, and a steel sword was placed on top of the stone statue.
There were six newborn wolves in total, one for each of the Duke's six children, and even the bastard Jon Snow got one.
He is not a person who values pleasure, but the king next to him is just the opposite.
"She is much more beautiful than this statue." After a moment of suppressed silence, the king spoke.
It is said that this is to ensure that the evil spirit is sealed in the tomb and will not wreak havoc in the outside world.
"I was by her side before she died." Duke Eddard reminded me, "She told me that she just wanted to go home, to Winterfell."
Then, he saw two people's faces leaning out of the window.
It was a small gift brought back to him by his father Duke Eddard when he went hunting a month ago.
"She was meant to marry me! She belongs to Baratheon too!"
Bran sat astride the gargoyle statue, clamped his legs together, and turned his whole body upside down, and then he saw the scene in the room——
Promise me, Ed, promise me...
"The gods will bless Bran." He leaned over and kissed his wife gently on the head, then turned and walked out of the room.
The young second son of the duke was as agile as an ape climbing the steep walls.
James grabbed Bran by the collar and asked, "Boy, how old are you?"
"I must go, Catelyn." Duke Eddard whispered, but unfortunately there was still no response from his wife.
Back then, Robert was angry and rebelled for this Miss Lyanna Stark. Although he has now driven the Targaryen royal family off the Iron Throne and avenged the death of his wife, if he could, he would rather use that throne.
The cold and twisted throne exchanged for her awakening.
Duke Eddard smiled slightly and said nothing.
And Lord Eddard couldn't help but notice the price Robert paid for his indulgence.
In order to fulfill his promise to his sister, Lord Eddard brought her and Rhaegar Targaryen's child back to the North, claiming that it was his illegitimate child.
"She shouldn't sleep here," Robert shouted, "shouldn't be among the cold and dark! She should be buried on a beautiful hill, with sunshine and white clouds as her company!"
"How come I heard that before Jon died, he said that his death had nothing to do with the Red Viper?"
At this time, Robert's eyes were fixed on the statue on the third sarcophagus.
Just when Bran had regained some strength and was about to continue, he suddenly heard a faint gasp.
Hearing his master's scolding, the little wolf lay on the ground aggrievedly and did not dare to bark any more.
He would never be able to forget the scene before his sister died.
James turned to look at his sister and said in a helpless and calm tone:
"Think carefully about what I have done for love."
There was also a scream in the room, followed by the voice of Queen Cersei:
"There's someone there!"
"There is such a saying." Robert became irritated again, "But Ed, you also know the old man's character. He values glory more than anything else in his life. If he does this before his death, he may not really believe in the Red Viper.
'Didn't harm him."
"I understand. I will find out." After a moment of silence, Duke Ed added, "Let's go up, the queen is still waiting."
Bran panicked and his brain felt dizzy. He quickly hooked the gargoyle statue hard, but it still fell down.
"He saw us!" Queen Cersei screamed.
To his right, lies his eldest son, Brandon Stark.
Unfortunately, as soon as they didn't pay attention, the little guy had already disappeared between the high walls of the ancient castle.
The direwolf is the emblem of the Stark family, so the children were very excited. They named the wolves. The eldest son Robb's was called "Grey Wind", Sansa's was called "Lady", and Arya's was named "Grey Wind".
The one named "Nymeria", Rickon's was named "Shaggydog", Jon's was named "Ghost", and as for Bran, he has not yet decided what to name his little wolf.
"ah--"
"Hahaha..." Robert laughed, his loud voice echoing in the darkness, "That's great! Believe me, you won't regret it! Compared with the bitter cold in the north, the south is much warmer! Especially in the south.
It is summer now, and the fields are full of flowers and green grass as far as the eye can see. Fruits are so sweet that they can pop in your mouth. There is also wine. Oh, by the way, a new wine has been spread in the river bend recently, called brandy! Then
The taste is really exciting! You must try it!”
"I have ordered the 'Red Viper' to come to King's Landing. He should be here when we return. By then, you can interrogate him properly!"
"What do you want?" Cersei demanded. "He saw us!"
boom--
…
Named, Jon Snow.
Bran quickly used all his strength to grab the man's hand, and the man pulled him up to the window sill.
When they reached the depths of the tomb, the crowned stag, which once dominated the battlefield and was invincible, was already panting and sweating profusely.
"I told you, don't call me your majesty again!" Robert shouted, but when he saw the serious face of his old friend next to him, he finally shook his head helplessly, "You Starks are as rigid as the ice in the north.
It's boring. Come on, old man, let's go up."
He let out a scream, but luckily he managed to catch the window lattice on the way down.
The long procession drove out of Winterfell and then split into two groups, the larger group heading south and the smaller group heading north.
Both father and son died at the hands of the "Mad King" Aerys Targaryen before the Reaver War.
"He saw us!" Cersei screamed again.
It's Queen Cersei Lannister and her brother Jaime Lannister!
To be continued...
