Chapter 210 Kings(1/2)

The manic sea breeze swept across Dragonstone Island, sending out waves of wild beast-like roars.

The castle towering on the precipitous cliff was built using Valyrian masonry technology. It has a unique shape. The towers are carved into the shape of dragons. Along the castle, there are many gargoyles of different shapes that serve as battlements. The walls protrude.

The dragon's claws are the torch stand, the huge dragon wings cover the blacksmith shop and the armory, and the dragon's tail forms the arches, bridges and outdoor stairs.

Hundreds of years before the end of Valyria, the Targaryen family occupied this island and established a territory.

But at that time, the Dragon King family did not pay attention to this barren island. They did not even think highly of the continent of Westeros. In their eyes, the continent of Essos was the center of the world.

It wasn't until an apocalyptic catastrophe destroyed the dragon empire that the Targaryen family, who fled to Dragonstone, began to turn their attention to the Westeros continent in the west.

The land of Dragonstone is barren and the population is sparse. Although it guards the chokepoint of Blackwater Bay, before the War of Conquest, it was an island that no one paid much attention to. After all, King's Landing at that time was just a small fishing village.

After Aegon Targaryen conquered the Six Kingdoms and established himself as the capital, Dragonstone's key position suddenly became highlighted. Therefore, during the Targaryen dynasty, Dragonstone has always been the fiefdom of the Iron Throne prince.

After the Reaver War, Robert Baratheon granted Dragonstone to his eldest brother, Stannis Baratheon.

Unfortunately, Stannis was not grateful for this canonization.

"There are only a few left." Ser Kevan Lannister saw the king's impatience and assured him.

Maester Cressen had no choice but to pick up a quill and make corrections on the parchment.

Then he cleared his throat and continued to read the letter he wrote for the king and sent to the major lords of the seven kingdoms:

"...After the death of the late King Robert I, he did not leave any direct descendants. Joffrey, Tommen and Myrcella were actually caused by Cersei Lannister and her brother Jaime the Regicide..."

Therefore, I would rather choose this red god, at least he does show real power that is beyond the reach of mortals."

"I've seen it." The corner of Kevan's mouth turned up with some disdain, "This guy still has the same temper, smelly and tough. It's impossible for him to win people's love like this. There's nothing to be afraid of."

"Why do you refer to Robert as 'my deeply beloved brother'?" Stannis frowned, "I have no feelings for him."

"The Stormlands can only handle it this way for the time being. Just don't let them form a unified force and cause us trouble." Sir Kevan put away the document signed by the king. "Now our main focus is still on Ed Starr.

On the other side are the northern forces that have been gathered together. For this reason, the tendency of the Reach is very important."

During the War of the Reavers, the armies of the River Bend surrounded Storm's End. Stannis held on to the castle for a year, with no food and grass, and almost starved to death. It was Davos who sailed a smuggling ship full of onions into the castle.

He went to Storm's End and saved Stannis' life.

He knew that this was his master, who was serious and stubborn, had a strong sense of justice, did not understand hypocrisy, and disdained lying.

"This is a lie." Stannis's tone was as hard and cold as steel, "Get rid of it."

"Your Majesty, Duke..." Maester Cressen is old and always forgets to change his words, "This is just a show of respect."

But this kind of cruelty of "treating everyone equally" will not win the kindness of the enemy, but will only make oneself feel cold.

Kevan nodded and asked again:

"Is our food and grass okay?"

Maester Cressen sighed secretly.

Stannis interrupted again: "Change it to Ser Jaime. No matter what this man does, he is a knight after all."

But fortunately, now Stannis's opportunity has come. After Eddard Stark declared Cersei's three children to be evil, he is the first legal heir to the Iron Throne.

"...the offspring of an incestuous relationship with my brother Ser Jaime. According to the laws of inheritance and blood, I declare today that I am the first legitimate heir to the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. The king should be diligent."

Immediately swear allegiance. In the name of the old and new gods..."

At this moment, the entire Seven Kingdoms seemed to be under the control of this king.

Stannis said expressionlessly: "Smuggler, when did you become so pious?"

"Your Majesty, no one in Westeros believes in the Red God."

"This is a good idea." Tyrion smiled and nodded. "If Duke Edric Baratheon wants to maintain his legitimacy, he must recognize the legitimacy of King Tommen. Now the nobles of the Stormlands will

I have an excuse to reject Stannis, tsk tsk, my father is really good at it."

"It's your nephew." Kevan glared at Tyrion and corrected him.

"Good deeds cannot offset evil deeds, and evil deeds cannot cover up good deeds. Each deed has its own retribution." This was what Stannis said to his savior at that time.

Among the three brothers of the Baratheon family, Renly is the most loved by the common people, Robert is the most convincing, and only Stannis, no one likes him.

I heard that the regicide wielded a flaming red sword...

The position corresponding to Dragonstone was carefully designed to be Stannis's seat.

When everything is contrasted, it becomes difficult to maintain a balanced mentality.

Maester Cressen frowned again.

"Onion Knight" Davos also quickly advised: "Your Majesty, I don't recommend that you change your witness to the Red God. After all, the nobles and common people in Westeros only know the Seven Gods and the Old Gods."

Seeing that his subordinates were silent, Stannis turned back suddenly and said coldly:

Davos advised: "Your Majesty, if you are talking about Thoros's flaming sword, please believe me, it just looks bluffing."

Tyrion smiled at the king: "So I still want my good nephew to marry the 'Rose of Highgarden' as soon as possible."

Because his younger brother Renly Baratheon got the rich Stormlands.

Kevan handed over a piece of parchment and explained:

Tommen pursed his lips aggrievedly, but still obediently held the quill with his chubby hands, preparing to sign.

"Stannis is indeed not a lovable guy. Even his biological brothers can't stand him. However, there should be many people among the Stormland nobles who recognize him. After all, his surname is Baratheon." Tilly

Ang reminded.

But in the face of his savior, Stannis, while canonizing him as a knight, still chopped off four fingers of Davos's left hand just because the savior was a smuggler.

Davos Seaworth, the "Onion Knight" sitting next to Maester Cressen at this time, is one of them.

He knew that Queen Selyse Florent believed deeply in this red god, the King of Light, and even invited a red-robed monk named Thoros to preach on Dragonstone every day while wielding a flaming sword.

King's Landing, Red Keep.

"I dare not say how pious I am." Davos said respectfully. Of course, a former smuggler would not dare to claim to be pious, "but I still go to church every week. I also believe that the Holy Mother gave me seven

My strong son is the blacksmith who has been keeping my ship safe for many years."

"That's right." Tyrion moved his short legs and changed his position on the chair, "Uncle, have you read the documents Stannis distributed?"

In front of him was a huge wooden table built by Aegon the Conqueror Targaryen, with the entire landscape of Westeros vividly carved on it.

The young king sat at the head of the royal council, with a pile of cushions placed under his butt so that he could reach the table.

"It will be available in the future."

"Immediately modify it according to my wishes, and then release all the ravens in our hands!"

"Yes." Maester Cressen had no choice but to agree.

"When did they ever love me?" Stannis stood up suddenly and walked to the south-facing window, overlooking the vast ocean. "From the day I witnessed the 'Proud Wind' hit the rocks and sank, I made up my mind.

I am determined not to believe in the Seven Gods anymore! Any cruel gods who sit back and watch my parents drown are not worthy of my belief!

Stannis spoke again: "The old and new gods have been changed to the Red God."

"This document convicts Samwell Caesar of regicide and treason, and requires Duke Mace Tyrell to immediately deprive the Caesar family of all titles, castles, and fiefs, and escort this person to King's Landing for trial."

Even his two brothers can't stand him.

"Yes, nephew, nephew." Tyrion shrugged, gave the king a teasing look, and then changed the subject, "What about my good father? Where is he now?"

Those monks nag me all day long that all fairness and justice in the world comes from the Seven Gods, but all the fairness and justice I see are all done by human beings!

Instead, those bullshit Seven Gods just watch and do nothing!

"The Stormlands army is trapped in Dorne, and the nobles may not be willing to spend the last bit of their wealth to support Stannis. They just lack an excuse to refuse. And your father has already found an excuse for them." With that, Kevan has already made an excuse.

He handed another piece of parchment to the king, "This document officially bestows Edric Storm, the illegitimate son of the late King Robert I, with his legitimate status, and appoints him as Duke of Storm's End and Guardian of Stormland."

Stannis nodded with satisfaction and returned to his seat.

"Your father has led his army to Harrenhal."

A normal person might have left in anger long ago, but Davos dedicated his loyalty to Stannis because of this and became his unparalleled loyal and brave "Onion Knight".

Is this the power of fire?

So, he shut his mouth.

Davos thought of the sensational news coming from Tianji City. At first, he didn't believe that anyone could cut down four white knights with one sword, but as more and more people said so, he had no choice but to

believe.

——————————

Tyrion immediately understood: "This is to block the northern army's path south."

"No. I'm talking about real power, the power contained in flames!" Stannis turned his head and looked at the flames jumping in the fireplace, as if he had seen the horrific illusions again, "I need this power.

"

"What a waste." Tyrion looked regretful.

"It was your wife who gave you your son, and it was the real craftsman who wielded the hammer who ensured that your ship would not be broken up by the wind and waves. As for the one who gave you your current status, it was me!"
