In the middle of the desk, there sat a tall man with a majestic face and a crown on his head. He was dressed in black robes, with a black face and black beard, and his eyes were shining brightly, showing no anger or authority.

Li Bing knew in his heart that this was King Yama of the Five Palaces. What made Li Bing even more surprised was that there was a crescent-shaped mole on the dark face of King Yama in the middle of his forehead.

"No wonder Black and White Wichang said the surname of the King of Hell in the Five Palaces is Bao!" Li Bing thought to himself: "Sure enough, Bao Zheng, the famous Prime Minister of the Northern Song Dynasty, is the king in the underworld. They knelt under the case and listened to the judgment of King Yama.

King Yama judged them one by one, and the ghost criminals no longer dared to complain. Because King Yama was a god in judging cases, and Bao Zheng made perfect decisions.

Legend has it that when King Yama incarnated as Bao Zheng in the Yang world, he had a Yin-Yang pillow that could interrupt human cases during the day. He could sleep on the Yin-Yang pillow at night and interrupt Yin-Yang matters in his dreams.

The crescent mole on Bao Zheng's forehead seems to be just a birthmark, but in fact it is a yin and yang eye. Under his yin and yang eye, everything in the underworld can be distinguished between loyalty and treachery.

The ghosts in the underworld all thought that Bao Zheng had a great compassion and often sent out the souls of those who died unjustly to repay the yang, so he was demoted to the fifth hall by Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, the leader of the Netherworld. King Yama is in charge of the fifth hall. In fact, he was not demoted, but King Yama himself petitioned Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. After going through layers of trials in the first four halls of the underworld, and then to the back of the fifth hall, King Yama will strictly control if there is any injustice.

The soul of the deceased will be sent by King Yama to the tenth palace to be reincarnated and reborn into a wealthy family to make up for the unjust death.

If there are ghosts who are as treacherous as they were in life and come to the underworld and still argue that they are unjustly accused, they will not be able to escape the yin and yang eyes of King Yama. Therefore, there is a folk saying that "there are no unjust ghosts in the palace of Yama".

Ghosts convicted by King Yama have one last chance to see their families before being sent to the Sixteen Small Hells of Punishment. This is due to King Yama's great compassion.

The ghost criminals who were convicted by the King of Yama were taken to a high platform by the ghost soldiers. The high platform was called "Wangxiang Terrace". The platform was like a bow, facing three directions: southeast, east and west. The bow-shaped platform was long.

Eighty-one miles away. The back of Wangxiang Terrace is like a straight bowstring, with sword trees behind it.

The reason why Wangxiang Terrace is built in this way is because Hell is in the extremely cold and extremely Yin north, and no one can live in the north. Mortal people live in the three directions of the Underworld, the southeast and the west.

Wangxiang Terrace is forty-nine feet high, with Knife Mountain as the slope. There are sixty-three levels in total. Every time you take a step, your feet will step on the blade of a knife, and blood will flow freely.

If the ghost offender was a kind person while alive, he would not go to the Wangxiang Tower. When passing through the fifth hall, he would be directly sent to the tenth hall by King Yama to be reincarnated.

Only the evil ghosts who were judged guilty by King Yama were allowed to be escorted to the Wangxiang Tower by the ghost soldiers, so that they could see their former homes and hear the words and deeds of their acquaintances in the world.

After a person who has committed evil deeds dies and sees his relatives in the mortal world, he does not obey his will and decrees; he changes everything and corrects it one by one; he fights hard for his property and cannot move it; the man wants to remarry and the woman wants to commit bigamy.

Lands are being withdrawn and distribution is difficult to make evenly; old accounts are being cleared up and become unclear again; those who are dead and alive are hard to find, and those who are alive and well are not dead have no evidence. They are cheating on each other, prevarication, and all mistakes are made, and everyone is blamed for death.

Relatives from the three parties make grudges and comments; children keep their own interests, and friends break trust; a few of them miss their former love, cry in the coffin, and sneer twice;

There are even more evil retributions: men are tortured by castration, women suffer from strange diseases; sons are raped, women are raped; all karma is dissipated, houses are burned down; household affairs, big and small, are suddenly exhausted; evil deeds are repaid by others, not just ghosts.

The evil ghost who walked through the Mountain of Knives and stepped onto the Home Viewing Terrace saw that after his death, his family was at disharmony, his family business was in ruins, his relatives turned against each other for the sake of their own rights, and the evil he had done would affect his descendants. He could not help but feel sad and regretful about it.

The evil he did in his previous life.

After the evil ghost was taken down to Wangxiang Terrace, he was then tortured in front of the court. The evil ghost was first pressed into an iron table and chopped into pieces of meat paste with a knife.

After the evil ghost regains its original shape, he pulls it to the sharp iron thorns standing on the ground, lifts the evil ghost up, and lets the iron thorns penetrate from the chest, go straight through its body, and finally pass out from the throat and neck.

It is the same, but there are iron thorns pointing upward as branches. When the ghost prisoners fell from the sky, they were immediately stabbed to the guts by the iron branches. They were hung on the sword tree and could not move, making no sound.

After receiving several punishments, the ghost soldiers followed the orders of King Yama and sent the ghost criminals to the Sixteen Heart Punishment Small Hells to serve their sentences.

The Sixteen Small Hells of Punishing the Heart are different from the Sixteen Small Hells in the previous halls. They are no longer divided into categories, but all hells are the same, holding many evil spirits.

There are wooden stakes buried in the small hell of Zhuxin, with copper snakes as chains and iron dogs as piers to bind the hands and feet of evil spirits.

The ghost soldier then used a small knife to inflict extreme cruelty and slowly cut open the evil ghost's belly. Then he hooked out its heart and cut it off carefully.

The ghost soldier fed the severed heart to the poisonous snake that wrapped around the ghost prisoner's body, and threw the intestines of the ghost prisoner to the dog to be eaten.

After the ghost prisoner regrows a complete body, he continues to peel off his skin, disembowel his abdomen and gouge out his heart, and repeats this process. After suffering for a full day, the ghost prisoner finally recovers from pain and regains his skin. At this time, he is sent to another palace according to the judgment of King Yama.
