Chapter 66 Wake Them Up
"Oh! My God!" Martin, wearing a dark raincoat, leaned against the window and glanced into the house, then exclaimed in disbelief.
He couldn't believe that there was a man with his bare butt sticking out at the stairs, like a headless corpse. He could hardly see where the man's head was.
Martin tapped the glass a few times, called Mir's name and shouted: "Sir! Can you hear me? Hello! Sir!"
He didn't hear any response from the room, nor did he see any response from the man.
He came to the door and carefully observed the thick and strong iron door. He was not sure whether he could break it, so he could only get in through the window. He was in urgent need of help now.
It seemed that he had to go to Vincent and Ruili for help. It was almost seven o'clock in the morning, and he didn't know if these two people got up at this time.
Martin's eyelids were very tired and had begun to fight with each other. He stood on Bourbon Street and looked up at the gloomy sky, letting the cold rain slap on his face wantonly. He needed to wash his face and wake up at this moment.
He was now ready to knock on the door, but he chose the street of Paulina's house and stood there blankly looking at the dilapidated door and the dark windows.
He really wanted to lie on the window and observe what was going on inside, but he wanted to tell Mir the results of last night's surveillance first and wait for his free time to come here as a guest.
Martin stood on the stone road of the new house and saw Matilda in the window cleaning the house. He said to himself: "She is so virtuous. She doesn't look like a graceful noble lady at all."
He knocked on the door tentatively, and someone in the room immediately responded: "Are you Mr. Edward?"
Martin listened to the extremely gentle voice and said: "Miss Matilda, it's me, I'm Martin Angelus."
Matilda put down what she was doing and hurried forward to open the door and said: "Good morning, Mr. Angelus."
"Good morning, dear Miss Bertie." Martin said with a very polite bow to Matilda.
"Come in, Mr. Angelus." Matilda looked at the pouring rain behind Martin and said, "Such a bad weather."
Matilda closed the door and turned around to do the unfinished work in her hand, while Martin slowly took off his raincoat at the door and glanced at the hard-working and capable Matilda.
"Quickly put it down, Miss Matilda, this rough work does not belong to you." Martin said.
Matilda smiled at Martin and said: "It's okay, Mr. Angelus, I just want to try it, hoping to understand the difficulties of the servants."
"Miss Matilda, it is an extremely happy thing to be your servant." Martin grabbed his wet bangs and said, "In France, are you always considerate of the people's sentiments?"
"Yes, I often do this, but my father doesn't like what I do. In his eyes, everything I do seems to be wrong." Matilda sat on a chair and gasped.
"Our fathers belong to the same type of people and can be compared with each other." Martin said: "That kind of condescension makes me very disgusted."
"Have they gotten up? Miss Matilda." Martin looked at Matilda nodding her head and immediately stood up and asked.
Miss Matilda replied: "Miss Ruili hasn't gotten up yet, and Mr. Vincent Junior and my brother probably haven't gotten up either."
"Miss Matilda, it's not convenient for me to go into Miss Ruili's room. Please get up quickly and wake her up." Martin said hurriedly.
Matilda looked at Martin with an extremely ugly expression, so she stood up and asked with concern: "What happened? Mr. Angelus."
Martin didn't want to tell Matilda what he saw because he was worried that Matilda would go to Mill's house immediately. He didn't want Matilda to see that kind of scene.
If she really bumped into a naked man in the house, she would definitely be frightened. Although Martin was not entirely sure whether the man was Mill, he needed to think about Matilda's rest of her life.
He could not imagine what a young and beautiful girl would be like when she saw a naked man, so that it would stain Miss Matilda's eyes.
If it was really Mir, people would gossip, especially Chris, who would definitely not let Mir go.
Martin knows how dangerous Chris is. He is no longer what he used to be. Although Martin has not seen Chris's current strength, what Martin can be sure of is that he is very likely to kill Mir at any time.
In order to keep everyone on the same page for the murder, Martin doesn't want Mir and Chris to break up. In that case, the annoying Walter Rue will become even more rampant.
In Walter Ru's heart, he was looking forward to this day, but Martin didn't want to fulfill his wish.
"It's nothing. I just went to a meeting about a murder case." Martin took out his pocket watch from his pocket and said with a feigned fear: "They will be late if they don't get up, and the commander will be angry."
Then Matilda hurried upstairs, and Martin followed her, and asked Matilda which room Vincent slept in.
Matilda pointed to the room in front and said: "He was taking care of my brother last night. They slept together."
"Thanks."
After Martin saw Matilda enter the room, he stood quietly at the door and gently opened the door, leaving a very small gap.
He wanted to know if Vincent was okay, so he tilted his head a little to the left. He saw Chris lying quietly on the bed, but did not see Vincent.
Then his head tilted a lot to the right, and he saw Vincent lying on the sofa, not even asleep. Vincent's eyes were staring straight at the ceiling, not knowing what he was thinking.
Martin slowly opened the door. The wooden door did not make any small noise, and Vincent happened to notice it.
Martin made a quiet gesture, looked at Chris, and used code words to ask Vincent to follow him out.
Vincent sat up slowly, making a soft sound due to the force of the sofa's rebound, and glanced at the sleeping Chris from the corner of his eye.
Unexpectedly, Chris suddenly turned over, his face and body facing the end of the sofa. He squinted and asked, "What time is it now? Vincent."
"It's almost seven o'clock, Detective Louis." Vincent said, "How are you feeling now?"
"Very good, very good, thank you for taking care of me, Vincent." Chris said with a yawn.
"You're welcome, Inspector Louis, I'm going to have a meeting first." Vincent said, listening to the soft sound of rain outside the window: "Inspector Louis, it's raining outside, you and Matilda can continue to stay here."
"Damn it! It's raining again."
Chris sat up and said, "Mil hates this damn weather just like me."
"Good morning, Detective Louis." Martin greeted with a smile.
"Morning, Mr. Angelus."
