Chapter 58: The Owl Laughs

For a moment, the wind blew in the cypress forest, the leaves were whistling, and the black and white shadows approached quickly, and a disgusting fishy smell came to my face.

I held the sharp knife tightly in my hand. The strong wind blew away the mist. The blood-red light shone through the tree canopy. It was vaguely visible at about a hundred meters in my field of view.

"Swishy!"

At the end of the sight, two spiders covered with black and white stripes were rushing out from the blurred light and shadow, about the size of a small plate, with constant rustling sounds. Spiders jumped out one after another in the darkness, climbing quickly to the spider back of the spider with black fluff in front, jumping forward, revealing the white spider belly with folds like a snake's belly. A large number of spiders crawled from the distance like a tide, one wave covered the wave, and the black and white spider belly alternated. From a distance, in the hazy blood fog, I thought it was two figures of black and white, and Black and White Impermanence came to seek life.

"Damn!" I scolded in surprise, turned around and ran wildly.

Looking back, the spider crawled quickly and had not yet run ten meters away. The spider closest to me behind him could bite my heels at almost as quickly.

"Huhhuh!" I gasped heavily, gritted my teeth, turned around and stabbed it hard at the position on my chest.

"Hiss!" A spider with a face size jumped up from the ground toward me. The dense spider's eyes reflected the cold light of a sharp blade. The two black mouths like pliers kept opening and closing, and dark green juice flowed, and the smell was stinking.

With a "puke", the blade penetrated into the spider's abdomen, and the yellow-green pus splashed, and the spider let out a shrill roar. Eight spider legs covered with tiny black barbs quickly closed along my arms.

"Ah!" It seemed like eight steel needles suddenly pierced into the muscles of the arm. I couldn't help but screamed out, and swung the blade hard. The dead spider's corpse smashed into the rushing spider wave, making a crackling sound. The dead spider was quickly eaten by the spider behind and exploded into a pool of yellow, green and sticky pus.

I looked at my arm. Eight small black holes were distributed on the surface of the skin. With the small black holes as the center, the arms turned blue and purple. Then there was a numbness. With a jingle, the dagger in my hand slid on the ground. I ran wildly, shaking my arms, unable to control the grasp of my palms at all.

The spider waves were getting closer and closer to me, and a bloody smell drifted among the cypress forest along the wind blowing behind me.

"Hehehehehehehe!"

Suddenly, sharp and harsh laughter sounded above the head.

The group of spiders rushing in the front seemed to be frightened and hissed. The spider legs were deeply hooked into the soil, dripping on the ground, splashing yellow earth smoke. The spider that had no time to stop behind bumped into the spider's back in front, making crisp sounds of spider shell breaking.

"Wow!"

The sound of wings flapping sounded from the canopy above the head, and a black shadow passed through the air and swiftly towards the spider group. The spider group let out an angry chirping, and in the glimmer of the cypress forest, light white spider webs sprayed out towards the black shadows above.

"Is this an owl?" I stared at the big bird with big wings in front of me, full of ephedra and a cat-faced bird, and said to myself in surprise.

"Hehehehehehehe!"

For a moment, spiders on the ground were roaring, owls in the sky laughed wildly, and black shadows flew out of the tree canopy and rushed straight to the spiders.

The strong wind blew the sand and the owls back and forth in the air. In the half-opening of the beak, half of the spider legs that kept slamming black and white, and the sharp bird claws ticked with dark green juice.

Seeing that the owl and the spider were fighting fiercely, I quickly took a light step and moved towards a two-meter-high cypress tree beside me, hiding my body in the bushes under the cypress tree.

An owl flew to a cypress branch not far from me and stood, facing the spider group, but her head twisted 180 degrees. Her pair of green eyes looked at the bushes where I was hiding, and her beak was wide open, making strange laughs.

"It's so unlucky!" I suppressed the tension in my heart, and the harsh laughter made my whole body feel goose bumps.

"I'm not afraid of night owls crying, but I'm afraid of night owls laughing. This place is so evil." I thought to myself.

Owls, commonly known as owls or night owls, like to eat carrion and often gather near cemeteries. In the past, people thought it was related to ghosts, and it was a soul-chasing bird and a death-reporting bird. It was unlucky to meet it. On the blue bricks of Qin and Han dynasties, you can occasionally see an owl standing on the top of a cypress tree. The ancients believed that both owls and cypress trees were symbols of the underworld. Owls occasionally sing in the middle of the night. If an anthropomorphic laughter sounded, it means that a great and evil strange thing might happen. Therefore, there is an old saying among the people: Don’t be afraid of night owls crying, but afraid of night owls laughing.

"Damn it!" I gritted my teeth and squeezed my bruised arms hard. Straws of black purple blood flowed down my arms and dripped on the branches and leaves of the bushes. The injured arm could not feel a trace of pain, and the discolored blood indicated that I had been infected with spider poison.

The soil under my feet suddenly began to thrust, as if something was about to emerge.

I stared at my feet, my heart was about to jump out of my throat, and the unknown was the most terrifying thing. The soil on the surface gradually loosened and cracked, and a soft red line appeared in the floating soil, similar to an earthworm, about the size of a fist, and it kept wriggling, bringing up pieces of broken soil.

"Hiss!" Just as I was thinking about what was under my feet, a large round mouth covered with white triangular teeth rushed out of the soil and bit my calves at my calves. It was extremely fast, so I was so scared that I quickly kicked it, and kicked it from the side and hit the fleshy red body connected behind the large round mouth.

The touch of kicking it on is also very strange, like a kick on cotton, soft and boneless.

"It's just a giant earthworm!" I thought to myself, and hurriedly climbed up to the cypress branches beside me.

As we climbed the cypress tree, a large amount of black purple blood flowed out of our injured arm, flowing down the trunk to the ground. In an instant, the ground near the cypress tree seemed to be about to boil. Under the dim blood-red light, the soil was shaking, causing the nearby bushes to shake together. Strips of flesh-red soft bodies squeezed through the surface, standing upright like snakes. The head was composed of a large round mouth full of triangular fangs. There was no nose and eyes. Light yellow and transparent mucus poured out from the gaps between the sharp teeth, hanging from the round mouth, and slowly slid down the erect flesh-red body.

As the soil on the ground flipped, the skulls of white humans were arched out of the ground, rolling and rolling. One of them was blocked by the cypress tree I climbed. A pair of empty and black eye sockets were facing me. The jaw had broken. A spider, the size of a palm, slowly crawled out of the hole in the jaw of the skull. The next second, the flesh-red soft body bent, and the big round mouth covered with triangular fangs wrapped the spider, chewing it quickly, making a crisp and crisp sound, and yellow and green pus dripped from the gaps in the fangs.

The dense flesh-red soft body poked out from the soil and slowly crawled towards the cypress where I was.

"Huh!" I let out a long breath. The bloody light in the forest made these flesh-red soft bodies look even more ferocious. A large number of white skulls were taken out of the soil by the flesh-red soft bodies and rolled to the ground. There was a red and white world in front of me, with the smell of corpses. Not far away, the roar of owls and spiders sounded clearly, giving people the feeling of being in the Shura hell.
