Chapter 1 Desert Zerg

During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, on the ancient road from Suzhou to Nanjing, a young man was carrying a book box and trudging forward under the scorching sun.

In late spring in the south of the Yangtze River, in March, warblers fly, grass grows, and flowers bloom.

Although summer has not yet entered, the sun at noon is already like a scorching fire, making pedestrians anxious and miserable.

There is a small restaurant on the roadside in front that caters to passers-by. There are already many people drinking tea and resting in the pergola built with bamboo mats.

The young man walked into the pergola, put down his book box, and asked for food from the store.

There was a noise of carriages and horses, and about a dozen officers and soldiers dressed in black, with flying pythons embroidered on their clothes, escorted a prison car and stopped in front of the pergola.

Half lying in the prison van was a prisoner with long hair covering his face.

An officer and soldier put his hand on the handle of a knife at his waist, walked into the awning, and shouted loudly:

"Jinyiwei is handling the case, and the rest of the gang should avoid it immediately."

When the people in the shed heard that the Jin Yiwei was coming, they all fled away as if they were avoiding the god of plague.

The young man was hungry. Looking at the food served by the store, he wanted to fill his stomach before leaving. However, looking at the empty shed, he hesitated.

"Get out!" the man scolded, and the boy was so frightened that he quickly picked up his book box and hurried away.

As the boy walked, he wiped the sweat from his head. He finally saw a forest in front of him and immediately quickened his pace.

The official road winds through the woods, with lush trees on both sides.

Not far into the woods, the sky was bright and sunny just now, but now it was suddenly covered with dark clouds.

The treetops swayed, a strong wind blew up, a thunder sounded, and huge raindrops fell instantly.

The young man hurriedly hid under a thousand-year-old tree on the side of the road to avoid the wind and rain.

The sound of carriages and horses rang out, and the team of uniformed guards escorting the prison car also entered the woods.

The horse's hooves brought up pieces of water mist, which drifted under the ancient tree where the boy took shelter.

There was another loud thunder, and the muddy road ahead suddenly opened several holes. Several thin figures in khaki tights flew up from the mud, and pierced the team like a few yellow lightning bolts.

The incident happened suddenly, and before the Jinyi guards could react or even pull out the Xiuchun sword from their waists, they fell off their horses one after another.

The men in yellow were all holding a dagger that shone with cold light, and they shuttled through the team like ghosts, whirling and howling like a storm carrying water droplets.

The deceased were all killed by the killer in yellow who flashed past and cut his throat with a knife at the speed of lightning. Some even spurted blood three feet from their necks and remained seated on their horses without moving.

The people in the cage were not spared either. A man in yellow passed by the cage, stretched his arm in, and sealed his throat with a knife.

The man in the cage collapsed instantly, and the blood spurting from his throat instantly dyed the cage red.

It was so fast that I couldn't see their figures clearly, let alone their faces.

During the entire killing process, there was no unnecessary sound of fighting, only the horrifying wailing sound when the dagger slashed across the throat.

A bolt of lightning flashed across the sky, and the yellow figures suddenly disappeared without a trace, as if they had never been there at all.

Just the corpses and blood everywhere tell the story of the human tragedies that have happened.

The wind became stronger and the raindrops became heavier. The wounds of the deceased were no longer bleeding, and the skin and flesh rolled outward were washed pale by the rain.

The young man hid behind a tree and watched the bloody killings vividly.

The blood vapor that filled the air made him feel sick in his stomach, and he couldn't help but vomit while holding on to the tree trunk.

The sound of horseshoes treading water sounded from the opposite side. Four horses galloped through the heavy rain. They stopped suddenly when they got close. They were obviously four rare BMWs.

The horsemen got off their saddles one after another and jumped down.

All four of them wore bamboo hats and black oily raincoats.

He squatted down and examined the deceased's wounds in great detail.

"Mr. Yang was originally worried about something happening on the road, so he sent us here to take care of him. Who would have thought that something went wrong." One person said in annoyance.

"These people were all killed with one knife and injured by short weapons such as daggers. The strangest thing is that they didn't even have the slightest chance to fight back. Most of them had their throats cut without even pulling out their knives."

Another person said.

"Brother, what do you think the other party is doing? The skills of these dozen Feiyu suits are not bad, but they died under the attack in an instant. This kind of skill is too terrifying!" said another voice.

The burly man called Big Brother stood there silently, looking up at the cloudy sky for a while, and then looking down at the bloody road with a very solemn expression.

After a long time, he said in a deep voice word by word:

"The other party is most likely from the far north. For thousands of years, there are only legends about them. No one has seen their true face. I didn't expect them to appear here. It seems that another bloody storm is about to happen in the Central Plains.

."

"What organization are they?" asked the first person to speak.

"Desert Zerg!" the elder brother trembled, with inexplicable fear in his voice.

The four of them got on their horses and disappeared in the wind and rain in a blink of an eye.

The young man leaned under the tree, without any strength in his body, as if he had collapsed.

I haven't eaten a grain of rice since early in the morning, but I saw a tragic scene again. My whole body ached and I was exhausted physically and mentally, so I fell into a deep sleep.

After not knowing how long he had been asleep, the young man woke up and found that he was still lying under the big tree. The wind and rain had stopped raging, and there was a burning bonfire in front of him.

A man dressed in white, with long hair covering his face, sat cross-legged next to the fire.

I lifted my body and found that my body had regained its vitality, without the pain and weakness before coma.

After turning my neck, I didn't feel any discomfort, but the collar was a little sticky.

I reached out and touched it, and it did feel sticky and wet.

At the same time, there is still a slight pain wherever the hand touches.

When he reached his hand in front of the fire, he was shocked to find that the sticky thing on his hand was actually red blood.

He was so excited that he couldn't help but jump up.

I checked my whole body carefully and found nothing out of the ordinary.

Only then did he pay attention to the mysterious man in white in front of him.

In such a dark night, when I suddenly woke up and faced such a scene, I couldn't help but feel terrified.

"Hey, who are you?" he asked tremblingly.

"You're awake. How do you feel? Are you feeling much better than before?" The man in white didn't move at all. Only the long hair in front of him fluttered slightly with the voice, but the voice came through clearly. It was an extremely gentle voice.

female voice.

This sound is very comfortable to listen to, like bathing in the warm spring breeze, which instantly relaxes the tense nerves of the young man.

He no longer had the initial fear, and this woman in white gave him a natural and friendly feeling, which seemed to be family affection and friendship.

In my memory, I walked into this path in the woods, accidentally saw a human tragedy, and then fainted under this tree.

Looking up at the road ahead, the scattered bodies were still there, but the horses had long since disappeared.

"In the past few days, you were exhausted because you were in a hurry, and you were caught in the rain and cold, so you fainted. Maybe you and I are destined to pass by here tonight and saved your life." The gentle voice of the woman in white came again.

Came over.

"Who are you? What does it mean that we are destined?" The young man had a hundred questions in his mind.

"You felt some pain in your neck just now, but it should be better now." The woman in white did not directly answer his question.

I touched the place that hurt just now, and sure enough it no longer hurt.

"What on earth is going on?" the young man asked again.

"I can't explain a sentence or two clearly. Please calm down and listen, and I will tell you slowly." The voice of the woman in white seemed to have magic power, which made the young man calm down and sit down by the fire.

"Son, let me ask first, where do you live? What's your last name?" the woman in white asked warmly.

"My family lives in Wujiang County, Suzhou. My surname is Du and my given name is Wenlin." The young man answered honestly.

"Du Wenlin, it's a good name." The woman smiled.

Du Wenlin had a shy expression on his face.
