Chapter 1 Ghost-faced Fish(1/2)
Early summer, somewhere in the Yellow Sea.
Slightly outdated crew cabin.
The thunder mixed with the noisy sound of waves crashing against the ship's hull was non-stop.
The chandelier shook violently, and the dim light flickered across the two stacks of books and photo frames on the bedside table on the right side of the cabin.
Inside the frame is a photo of a brother and sister standing in a zoo.
The young man with good features and a resolute face was carrying a pink schoolbag that obviously did not match his figure, and was carrying a bag of snacks and drinks. Next to him was a little girl with a ponytail and a bunch of marshmallows in her hand.
There is a bed against the wall.
The muscular, shirtless young man was lying on his side, as if he was deep in a nightmare, his brows were furrowed and his forehead was covered with cold sweat.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Someone outside slapped the cabin door quickly and shouted in a rough voice,
"Yan Jing, something happened outside. Third uncle called you over!"
Almost as soon as the words fell, the young man on the bed suddenly opened his eyes and sat up suddenly.
"Got it, come right away."
Yan Jing pinched his cheeks with both hands to cheer up his drowsy spirit. Yan Jing grabbed the drink stuffed in ice water on the bedside table, raised his neck and took a big gulp, muttering to himself,
"The fifth time, fuck, where did the sound come from?"
Rumble~
There was another thunderous explosion.
Yan Jing no longer hesitated, grabbed the shirt and plastic raincoat hanging at the door, and walked out of the crew room.
I quickly walked up the iron ladder to the control room on the deck, and saw a middle-aged man in a floral shirt holding the rudder.
The glass on the front of the cabin was flooded with rainwater, and with the help of a high-power searchlight, we could barely see the crew on the deck fixing the cargo.
Surrounding the fishing boat are boundless rough waves. Waves often hit the hull, and the seawater splashes down like a curtain.
"Lao Du, what's going on outside?"
Yan Jing was wearing a raincoat and asked in a deep voice.
"It seems like something dirty has been fished out... Everyone is at the boom at the stern of the boat. Go and have a look."
Controlling the ship in the storm occupied the middle-aged man's full attention, and he shouted without looking back.
Dirty stuff?
Yan Jing looked at the other party in confusion, and seeing that he had no intention of explaining, he had to turn around and open the hatch.
The wind and rain blowing in his face and the waves rushing over the side of the ship pulled him into another world in an instant.
Yan Jing pressed down the hood of his raincoat, showing no trace of panic on his face.
It has been six years since he went to sea at the age of eighteen, and he has seen too many storms.
Go straight along the side of the ship to where the boom is, and look at the crowd at the stern of the ship through the lights.
"Brother Yan is here!"
Someone noticed Yan Jing's arrival and immediately shouted.
The crowd immediately made way for a passage.
Although he is only twenty-four years old, Yan Jing is already the first mate of this fishing boat with his excellent maritime skills.
"Ajing, come and take a look."
Standing in the crowd was an old man with gray hair on his temples but a rather strong physique, saying hello loudly.
Zheng Sanshan, the owner of this ship.
Because he is the third eldest child in the family, his peers are called San Ge, and those in the younger generation are called San Uncle.
Walking a few steps forward, Yan Jing looked at the net bag just dragged up from the stern of the boat, where all kinds of seafood were piled up...
The moment his eyes passed over a certain place, he suddenly froze.
I saw a corpse mixed among the fish and shrimps. It was also wearing a set of tattered armor covered with seaweed. The mask of the helmet had been lifted. What was inside was not a skeleton, but a body with most of it preserved.
A rotting corpse of flesh!
Judging from his face, he must be from Japan, and the Tsukiyo hair style on his head is easily identifiable.
Perhaps due to being immersed in water for a long time, the body was swollen and covered in spots, which made it look particularly disgusting.
"What I caught when I closed the net just now is damn damn good."
Zheng Sanshan looked solemn. Those of them who make a living at sea are more or less superstitious. For example, it is an old rule to worship before going to sea and burn incense to seek good luck on a good day.
Now that such a body was suddenly fished out, anyone would feel frightened.
You must know that no matter what corpse is buried in the sea for so long, it should have been eaten up by various creatures long ago. The remaining skeleton is considered rare. How could it look like this?
Everyone was unsure whether to throw it back directly or do something else to deal with it first.
Yan Jing knew why his third uncle called him out specifically.
He had to find a way to stabilize the minds of the crew. After all, he would have to continue casting the net for fishing tomorrow.
"This sea area is not far from the Japanese country. It may be that a ship sank decades ago. This body... It is probably buried on the bottom of the sea, because today's strong winds and waves have brought it out again...
"
He wanted to find a reason to explain, but halfway through, he saw that the faces of the people next to him were not right. Yan Jing glanced at the captain and suddenly raised his tone,
"Fuck, he's just a kid. Are we afraid? Let alone just a corpse like this. Even if he comes out alive, I can kill him alive. My old man has fought in the war. He told me since he was a child that he can't kill anything he encounters.
The only one who can be cowardly is a little devil, whoever is a coward is a bastard!"
After speaking, Yan Jing took out a pair of gloves from the side, turned around, grabbed the armor, and threw the body along with it out of the stern of the ship.
[Detected the presence of ‘Japanese drowned corpse’ nearby]
[The torch has been lit, the Ember Apostle’s strength rating...‘鶸’]
[The current regular event ‘Ghost Faced Fish’ has been activated]

[Rewards will be distributed based on settlement score]
The sound that suddenly appeared in his mind made Yan Jing stagnant. Fortunately, the light was dim and the people around him didn't notice it.
"Damn it, Brother Yan is right. What would it look like for us, a bunch of bloody men, to be frightened by the corpse of a little devil?"
Seeing that Yan Jing had set an example, someone in the crew immediately agreed. In addition, the body had been thrown away, and the original solemn atmosphere suddenly improved.
"Everyone go back to your posts. We will return tomorrow afternoon. I will be the host then. Feng comes to the hotel and has a lot of fun!"
Zheng Sanshan knew the time had come and stepped forward decisively to boost morale.
Amid a burst of cheers, order on the ship returned to normal.
"Ah Jing, it would be unlucky to throw this thing away."
When the crowd dispersed, Zheng Sanshan stepped forward, looked at Yan Jing's gloves and said,
"Um."
After taking off his gloves and throwing them into the sea, Yan Jing's expression did not relax and he said in a low voice,
"Third uncle, I think something is wrong. When I threw the body just now... Anyway, let everyone be careful. I suggest sending two people to patrol the boat. I will finish it here."
"It makes sense, I'll go tell them right now."
What happened tonight was indeed something sinister. Zheng Sanshan responded and went to the bow deck.
Yan Jing, who was left alone at the stern of the boat, saw everyone leaving and gritted his teeth and roared,
"Who are you and why can you talk in my ear? Get out!"
The manic wind and rain crisscrossed Yan Jing's side, and no one responded to his question.
Starting from the day of this trip to sea.
Every day Yan Jing would hear strange whispers ringing in his ears.
Whether he is awake or sleeping, this sound can reach directly into his mind. He wants to explore it but can't hear it clearly.
However, after touching the corpse just now, these unknown sounds suddenly became clear.
Yan Jing wanted to think of these sounds as hallucinations he had after staying at sea for a long time.
But when he started to clean up the scattered seafood on the stern deck, he still couldn't stop thinking about these words that were almost prompts.
He also played online games when he was on shore and knew the meaning of the incident.
The Japanese drowned corpses.
