CHAPTER XVII HENDRIEL'S VISIT

Although the war in Macedonia caused Peloponnese to be the forefront again, the city of Tripolis under Justinian rule was still peaceful.

The Greeks and Latins were both ready to move, but so far they were still only tempted on the brink of conflict, and no one dared to touch the last bottom line without authorization, because that was undoubtedly unwise.

Justinian also knew this. Now he could mobilize no more than 3,000 troops, and more than half of them were demobilized and recruits, and still did not have full combat capabilities. Although he had oaths to inspect the new army, Justinian still did not act rashly. He had been waiting for this person. As expected, Hendriel, who entered the South Peloponnese by sea a few days ago, finally arrived in Tripolis.

It is obvious that the man who has been staying in Agrenion to serve Theodor on his side should represent Theodor's will. Justinian was waiting for the other party. As expected, Theodor still had to accept his demonstration, so he sent this man over!

"I have to say that your performance here is completely beyond my expectations, Justinian!" Hendriel, who walked into the governor's mansion, sat down and spoke up, looking at everything around him, who could have thought that Justinian was just an abandoned son who was randomly disposed of by Emperor Mikhail of Rusnena, but now he has become the heir of the Imperial Duke of Moria, invisibly, a force that cannot be ignored.

Justinian smiled faintly and said modestly: "Of course I would like to thank you for your help in this. If it weren't for your sponsorship by Hendriel, His Royal Highness wouldn't have given me such a chance!"

"This is nothing. For now, anyone with ability deserves respect from everyone. Even without me, His Royal Highness the Prince will not be indifferent to your talents." Hendriel smiled, but the slightly changed expression on his face was still keenly captured by Justinian.

Then, Justinian changed his tone, "I'm afraid this may not be. Whether it is the trouble that His Highness Romanus brought to me before or the difficulties he encountered in Agrenion, I can escape the danger calmly, and you are bound to help me behind my back, right? I think there is no reason for all this." In fact, when we first met, Justinian had already noticed this, and later during the duel in the arena, Hendriel had been deliberately reminding himself to be safe. This is probably not ordinary kindness, but more like a deliberate help.

Justinian looked at the other party quietly, looking for the reaction on Hendrielle's face.

However, when facing the question, the man shook his head denied, "You have thought too much about this, Justinian, I just simply share the worries of His Highness the Prince and have no selfishness, and the purpose of my visit this time is the same. Let's talk about Molia's current affairs, okay?"

As expected, just as Justinian expected, the other party had no intention of admitting it, and he did not intend to continue asking questions. But Justinian didn't like this feeling very much, although he himself had somewhat guessed who the person behind it would be.

"Okay!" So Justinian stopped beating around the bush and said straight to the point: "Since you come this time, I think Prince Theodor should be preparing to deal with the vassal state of Achaia!"

Hendriel nodded, "That's right, even the prince has to admit that you are qualified to be his ally now, but you are only qualified. It is because of this that he sent me here."

"Then I'll give him this sentence intact."

"Now is not the time to talk. Young man, you should understand that your situation is even worse." Hendriel looked at Justinian and reminded helplessly that this unwilling personality was good or bad. "If we break up with the vassal of Achaia and the Principal of Athens, even though the frontline Thessaly will be threatening, you who occupy Peloponnese will inevitably become the primary target of the Latins to clear. You should be clear, Justinian."

"However, why did they do this? Is it because everything I did before that angered them, or do I think that Tripolis was threatening them nakedly at this time like a sharp knife inserted in his heart? Hendrielle, I believe you understand this very well." Justinian looked at the other party meaningfully. Although he knew that the man in front of him had no special malice towards him, he now represents Theodor's will, so Justinian would never miss this opportunity to quarrel.

Seeing this, Hendriel also understood that the little fox of Moria in front of him would never submit easily, but he now represents the will of Prince Theodor. Although he could make some concessions to Justinian, he could not let this kid get more and more.

"Of course I know, but now relying on Molia's power alone, I think even with your talents, I will not be able to do so at that time. So it is wise to accept help at this time, Justinian." Hendriel emphasized his tone to remind the young man in front of him to pay attention to his sense of duty.

But Justinian understood that it was not enough to get through it at this time, so he made a concession, raised his head slightly and said lightly: "What you said is indeed reasonable, but even if that's the case, we still have to discuss the conditions!"

Hendriel, who saw Justinian let out a sigh of relief, then told Justinian the conditions he had prepared, and said: "This time Agrignon will provide you with about five thousand soldiers and food and supplies from the sea. Your mission is to restrain the army of the vassal state of Achaia and ensure that the prince's army resolves the war in Athens. You will allocate all the spoils and the captured cities."

"Is that all?" Hendriel's request was not harsh and the reward was simply generous. An army of five thousand men was exactly what he needed urgently now for Justinian. But Justinian did not think Theodor Ducas would be so generous.

However, Hendriel shook his head beyond what Justinian expected and said quietly: "No, this time is your first cooperation between the Prince and Justinian, but whether you can become your ally in the future depends entirely on your subsequent performance."
