Chapter 114 The Law of the Great Ming Dynasty

Since we talk about punishment, we will briefly talk about the laws of the Ming Dynasty.

Two famous sets of laws were enforced in the Ming Dynasty.

One set is called: The Law of Ming.

Another set is called: The Three Great Edicts.

Later, in order to save trouble, the people of the Ming Dynasty directly merged these two sets of laws. The merged name was called: Daming Lu Gao!

Let’s first look at the Daming Law.

This set of laws was written by civil officials, and the two main supervisors and drafters were Liu Ji and Li Shanchang.

The Ming Dynasty law can be roughly divided into five forms of punishment.

They are: whipping, stick, slaughter, flowing, and death.

Let's start with the lightest flogging.

Fighting can be said to be the lightest of the five elements, but it is indeed the most embarrassing punishment. This punishment is especially the most unfair to literati and women.

Because its punishment is to use a whip.

Do you think someone is wearing clothes and let someone beat him?

Then you underestimate Zhu Yuanzhang too much.

In fact, this flogging was carried out as early as the Warring States Period, but it was carried forward too much in the hands of Comrade Zhu Yuanzhang.

In order to serve as a warning, Zhu Yuanzhang ordered all the people who were whipped naked and the whip was whipped very hard. Some cruel officials would secretly dip water on the whip, and even perverted guys dipped chili noodles on the whip. The sourness of a whip should be felt slowly by yourself.

The reason why this punishment is so embarrassing is that in full view of the public, he was pushed to the bench by a few cruel officials who obviously didn't look good and stripped naked and slapped. No one felt ashamed.

This kind of punishment is better for men, but it is terrible that Zhu Yuanzhang doesn't even let women go.

You might as well think about it. A beautiful and beautiful girl with yellow flowers was pulled out of her clothes and her clothes were exposed. She was then pressed on the bench and looked at her in front of everyone. If this matter was spread, the woman's life would be ruined.

I am afraid that Zhu Yuanzhang never sneaks in using whipping, and he always only plays openly.

I'm afraid that this kind of thing will really be a disaster for eight lifetimes.

In the end, even if Zhu Yuanzhang didn't kill her, she would probably have no shame to live again.

You have to jump into the well and commit suicide when you go out.

Don’t think that flogging is the lightest and no one will die. What I said is the lightest is just on the surface, because it is much lighter than the other four forms of punishment.

But the fact is that countless people died in the whipping, because as long as it was the whipping issued by Zhu Yuanzhang, no one would stand and leave, and there would be many people who died.

The whipping can be said to have been played in Zhu Yuanzhang's hands. In order to vent his anger, Zhu Yuanzhang ordered all people to be replaced in the middle of the whipping. In our current classic language, it is called: people are off, three shifts or multiple shifts, and the whip is interrupted. It doesn't matter, there are countless spares behind it, and the replacement will continue to be pumped.

Anyway, it's just one purpose, to fight to the death.

The real reputation of this criminal law should be considered to be Zhu Liangzu, the Marquis of Yongjia. This kind of brother was beaten to death by Zhu Yuanzhang with flogging. Although he was not the first person to accept such punishment, he was the biggest contributor to the punishment. We will specifically select a chapter to talk about this later.

I'm sure Zhu Liangzu deserves his death.

It can be explained completely by a classic name we are now.

seek death.

When Zhu Liangzu first divided the title of marquis in the third year of Hongwu when the founding of the country, Zhu Yuanzhang granted him the title of marquis.

The name is Yongjia Hou.

After the feudal division, Zhu Yuanzhang sent him to Guangdong to guard the present Guangzhou, whose name was Panyu at that time.

Zhu Liangzu took his troops there, but this rough man from a martial artist never received any form of ideological education, so when he arrived in Guangzhou, he soon colluded with local gangsters.

Zhu Liangzu, who can be said to be a master of the sky in Guangzhou, began to accept bribes and serve as a protective umbrella for the bully.

The matter was discovered by the magistrate of Guangzhou Daotong.

As a founding hero, Zhu Liangzu also knew that this guy was not easy to mess with. So he decided to talk to Zhu Liangzu first and explain his political views.

He told Zhu Liangzu that I have already known about your corruption and bribery. It would be better for you to be honest in the future. Don’t do these things, otherwise I will handle it impartially.

Although you are a founding hero who is better than me, I am not afraid of you!

After warning Zhu Liangzu, Daotong, as the magistrate, also dealt with a few gangsters who were not very eyebrow.

This made Zhu Liangzu angry.

Zhu Liangzu felt that this guy from a literati was very ignorant of the times and was already stupid in his study. You are a magistrate with a big sesame seed, and a small seventh-rank sesame official dared to challenge me, but it would be strange if you were afraid of you.

So, without Daotong's consent, he snatched the arrested people directly from the county jail.

This time I will not do it.

He felt that as the magistrate, he couldn't bear to worry about his face.

But it is impossible to fight directly with Zhu Liangzu.

At this time, he thought of someone.

Zhu Yuanzhang.

I can't beat you, but someone can beat you!

He decided to shake this up to Zhu Yuanzhang.

Let Emperor Zhu deal with this founding hero himself.

So he wrote a letter and what Zhu Liangzu did and handed it to Zhu Yuanzhang.

At this time, Zhu Liangzu knew what Daotong was going to report. Zhu Liangzu, who had had a long relationship with Zhu Yuanzhang, knew that Zhu Liangzu, who was very good at Zhu's bad temper, knew that if he knew what he had done, he would be dead.

So he decided that the evil man would sue first.

He said that he was a founding hero who was bullied by a small county magistrate.

You, Boss Zhu, must make the decision for your younger brother.

You must never take a detour with this kid.

As a founding hero, Zhu Liangzu, was definitely much stronger in terms of livestock than horses that were not much worse than those of the county government and lazy donkeys, so Zhu Liangzu's complaint letter was delivered to Zhu Yuanzhang in advance.

Zhu Yuanzhang, who had no idea what happened, believed Zhu Liangzu's words and directly punished Daotong.

Those who dare to bully me, I will kill you asshole.

So he sent a few people to Guangzhou to kill Daotong.

It was only after these people had already set off that Zhu Yuanzhang received a memorial from Daotong.

At this time, Zhu Yuanzhang, who had been completely beaten up, finally understood and hurriedly sent a few more people to chase the previous group of people.

But before catching up, Daotong was killed.

This incident completely angered Zhu Yuanzhang.

After Daotong was killed, Zhu Yuanzhang did not forgive Zhu Liangzu.

He ordered people to capture Zhu Liangzu and his eldest son Zhu Xian to Nanjing, and then beat the two to death with a whip in the hall.

Zhu Liangzu can be said to be the first founding hero who was killed by Zhu Yuanzhang.

But his death cannot be considered as the sequence of massacres of meritorious officials, because it was entirely his fault for Zhu Liangzu.

The second type is the punishment of a rod.

This is much simpler and clearer.

Beat with a stick.

Just simply go through this. Zhu Yuanzhang definitely has his own unique aspect in punishing prisoners. Hitting it with a stick seems simple and not complicated, but I am afraid that I will count it, and there is a bigger difference.

This stick is thick and thin.

In order to distinguish between officials and ordinary people, Zhu Yuanzhang also issued a special edict saying that all officials are of high status and do not use thin sticks, but use thick sticks to serve them all.

From this perspective, Zhu Yuanzhang still cared for officials very much.

But the problem is that Zhu Yuanzhang has never implemented this edict since he issued it. Every time an official gets angry, he is the same guy, who serves him with a stick, never distinguishes his thickness.

It doesn’t matter if you discount it, but continue to buy new ones.

And it's terrifying that I can't count when the fight made Zhu Yuanzhang satisfied and when will it be finished?

This is the most terrifying thing.

Because it is not good to make a fuss, it will kill people.

In the end, you won't have to pay your life if you beat someone to death.

If anyone dares to ask Zhu Yuanzhang to pay his life, then his life will probably not be able to live long.

There was once a minister of the Ministry of Works Xue Xiang who provoked Zhu Yuanzhang for a trivial matter. Zhu Yuanzhang ordered to be beaten to death in the hall (everyone can see clearly, not in the cell of one or two people, but in the hall of the court).

Later, in order to protect their reputation, many ministers collectively accepted advice to Zhu Yuanzhang: Ministers should be punished and should not be humiliated (if they commit crimes, they should be killed directly, and don’t beat them, it’s too embarrassing. In another sentence, it is called a soldier who can be killed or humiliated).
