Loyalty Hero - Zang Ba

Zang Ba, whose courtesy name was Xuangao, was a native of Fangcheng Town, Fei County. He was a famous general under Cao Cao during the Three Kingdoms period. He served as the prime minister of Langya and was the first in charge of the Linyi region. He was upright and loyal. In "The Four Historians Review-The Three Kingdoms", Li Jingxing called him a "conscientious man".

According to the "Three Kingdoms" records: Guchengli Village, Fangcheng Town, was the county town of Huaxian County, Taishan County in the early years of the Three Kingdoms. Zang Ba's father Zang Jie was a small official in the prison in the county town. Because of his upright temperament, he opposed the prefect of Taishan County killing people for personal gain and was arrested and escorted to Taishan County Government. After hearing this, Zang Ba was very angry and summoned more than a dozen good friends to chase him. He kidnapped his father back on the mountain road in the western part of Fei County. Zang Ba was extremely brave. At that time, more than 100 soldiers were escorted, but no one dared to come forward to stop him. They ran away with their heads and fled to their lives.

Zang Ba and his father did not dare to return to Hua County, so they had to go into exile in the southeastern Tancheng area. In order to make a living, they joined the team of the Xuzhou prefect Tao Qian and were soon promoted to the cavalry commander. At that time, the official army and the Yellow Turban Army fought frequently, and those with ability often formed their own army. Zang Ba was brave and upright and loyal in fighting, and became the commander of the side. The soldiers respectfully fled, so they had their own troops and stood in the Bei'ezhuang area of Linyi City.

When Cao Cao attacked Lu Bu, Ba led his generals Sun Guan, Wu Dun and Yin Li to help Lu Bu. Lu Bu failed and Ba hid and was found by Cao Cao. Not only did he not kill him, but he liked his bravery very much. He sent him to recruit his old subordinates and appointed him as the prime minister of Langya, and also managed the Qingxu two prefectures.

Cao Cao's general Xu Xi and Mao Hui rebelled in Yanzhou. After failing, they fled to Zang Ba. Cao Cao sent Liu Bei to tell him that he would send the heads of Xu and Mao. Zang Ba said to Liu Bei: "The reason why I can stand on my own is because I do not do such things that hurt benevolence and righteousness. I am grateful to Cao Gong for not killing him, and I dare not disobey his orders, but the king of kings and kings can tell righteousness, and not force them. Please explain to him for me!" After hearing the report, Cao Cao sighed and said to Ba: "This is the behavior of the ancients. You can do it, and this is also my wish!" So instead of killing Xu and Mao, they were named county magistrates. Zang Ba was also valued by Cao Cao for his benevolence and righteousness. In the subsequent battles, Zang Ba made many military achievements and was rewarded, and was successively awarded the title of Duting Hou, Weihu General Duke Pei Guo, etc.

In the battle against Sun Quan of the Eastern Wu, he took the overall situation into consideration and sacrificed his life. He was deeply praised by Cao Cao and appointed him as the General Yang Wei. Later, Sun Quan begged for surrender, Cao Cao's army returned, leaving Zang Ba and Xiahou Chun to guard Juchao and other places. He was not seen in the TV of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" because during several major battles, he was sent by Cao Cao to the Mangdang Mountain District to suppress bandits.

Cao Cao's son Cao Pi ascended the throne and promoted this senior to General Zhendong, promoted him to the title of Marquis of Wu'an Township, and was also appointed as the leader of Jinwu. When there was a major event in the country, Cao Pi asked him to make a decision and became an important official in the court for a while. After his death, the court was granted the title of "Marquis of Wei".
