Chapter 507: Morality and Law
There is no before or after in the Tao, and those who achieve it come first.
Even if Zhang Husheng and others cultivated Taoism earlier than Lingqing, they even entered Taoism earlier than Lingqing.
But when they heard that Ling Qingyu was going to preach, they were still overjoyed.
Sitting in the hall and listening attentively, his expression was focused and hungry.
After deciding on the Lunan Religious Alliance just now, we just laid out a general framework and left it at that.
Then everyone was not only curious about how Lingqing taught disciples like Lingji and Wenjun.
He was even very curious about his path of spiritual practice.
So I couldn't help but ask him for some advice on how to practice and teach disciples.
Lingqing didn't hide anything and answered their questions one by one.
The Taoist has existed forever, but he who has enlightened it has attained it.
It is not that the broom is cherished by itself, but that the Tao is actually in oneself, in the body, in the heart, and in the world around you.
However, most people can't see it, hear it but can't get it, get it but can't keep it, and keep it for a long time.
The five schools practice different methods, and their understanding of the Tao is also different.
Ling Qing couldn't analyze them one by one at this time, so he didn't talk about the subtle joints.
It talks mostly about the relationship between freedom, ease and discipline.
Taoists, and not just Taoists, as long as they practice the method of attributing great power to themselves, they will inevitably have the unwillingness to be restrained by others and want to pursue freedom.
Some warriors even aim to pursue the understanding of thoughts.
However, whether it is carefree, at ease, or having thoughts, it does not mean acting recklessly.
Don't worry, Chiyi will only bring destruction after madness.
Only by keeping one's mind in check, controlling one's thoughts, and then doing whatever one wants without violating the rules, can one be truly carefree, truly at ease, and have true access to thoughts.
Good and evil have no fixed formula, they can only be realized by the mind.
Previously when Ling Qing was in the Black Mountain dungeon, he had discussed good and evil with Yan Chixia and Mu Jingrou.
Ling Qing and Yan Chixia both admired Wang Yangming's Theory of Good and Evil.
It’s just that what Lingqing held at that time was that following the inner principles is good, and being moved by Qi is evil.
Regardless of people, gods, ghosts, or monsters, as long as you can understand your own heart and act on it sincerely.
No matter what you do is good or evil in the eyes of others, it is good to yourself.
Even if monsters eat people and people kill monsters, as long as they are not moved by anger, indulge their hearts, and act recklessly, they are not doing evil.
Although Yan Chixia also believes that following reason is good and being angry is evil, for him, it has an extra layer of moral restraint.
This level of moral restraint is a common concept of good and evil formed by the good and evil in everyone's hearts over a long period of time.
There is no final formula for this concept. The morality of the Montenegro world is not the same as the morality in reality. It is even very different from the world of the mountain gods and the world of the Warring States Period.
But it is inevitable that this is a criterion formed by people in their behavioral activities.
Has nothing to do with other living things.
Lingqing has never been a good person in a broad sense, he is just a good person in his heart.
Therefore, some actions may be contrary to moral common sense, but they do not violate the good in his heart.
But people also change.
Ling Qing and Yan Chixia's views on good and evil do not matter whether they are right or wrong. For themselves, as long as they act diligently, they are all good.
From Lingqing's point of view at this time, the two people's views on good and evil can also be said to represent the concepts of being out of the world and entering the world respectively.
Although Yan Chixia looked disheartened and seeking liberation, after all, he could not leave the world of mortals and meditate quietly.
Without the world of mortals, his Tao will be gone.
I say all this just to illustrate that if Ling Qing wants to join the world and take charge of the Lunan Religious Alliance, he will inevitably have to add a layer of moral restraint to his own views on good and evil.
The lowest limit of this level of moral restraint is universal law.
It's just that Ling Qing and others all have sects, and there are rules and regulations in the sects.
In some places, legal restrictions may be stronger than sect precepts.
However, in most cases, the sect's precepts are basically much stricter than the law regarding the moral requirements of its members.
As the saying goes, goodness and filial piety are the first, but when it comes to the heart, there is no deeds. Poor families have no filial sons.
The sect's precepts and moral restraints are not only about deeds, but also about the heart.
This is not for others to see, but for yourself, for your own practice.
But after all, people are not perfect, and they must be restrained from time to time and reflect on themselves in everything.
Therefore, Lingqing's sermon this time also synthesized the sect's precepts and national laws.
Taking the law as the minimum bottom line and the precepts as the requirements for mind cultivation, we have generally sorted out the code of conduct of the Lunan Religious Alliance in the future.
This is to restrain everyone and alert everyone.
He also stated that when some disciples violate the precepts but do not violate the law, the sect can punish them according to their own precepts.
If someone violates the law but does not violate the precepts, he will consciously hand it over to the Special Affairs Department for handling according to law.
And when he violates both the precepts and the law, he will be punished by both the sect and the Special Affairs Department, and the execution will be supervised by the Special Affairs Department.
He also participated in the creation of the heavenly rules and precepts in the Warring States dungeon, and these were all at his fingertips.
After some explanation, Zhang Husheng and others couldn't help but admire him.
Of course, Lingqing is not just talking about how to set rules for people and how to punish them.
The purpose of everyone is to practice cultivation. In the eyes of some people, this kind of behavior does feel like dancing with shackles, which makes people feel a kind of restraint invisibly.
Therefore, Lingqing also explained how to achieve true freedom and freedom within these rules.
He has inherited the principles of various sages and sages, and many of them have this kind of mental cultivation skills.
After all, for the saints and sages, they were reincarnated in the lower world during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, to promote their ideas to princes, kings and all living beings.
For them, the constraints are much greater than everyone's compliance with legal precepts.
This person didn't say anything about flipping the table. Even if Ling Qing flipped the table, they didn't do anything to him.
Do you think they can't or don't dare? They just don't want to.
Leaving aside the philosophies of other schools of thought, most of the people listening to the lecture today are Taoist successors.
What Lingqing talks about is derived from Zhuangzi's "Xiaoyaoyou". He doesn't talk about anything else, but only talks about Kunpeng's transformation and Xiaoyaozu.
There is a fish in the North Ming Dynasty, and its name is Kun. Kun is so big that I don’t know how many miles it is; when it turns into a bird, its name is Peng. With the back of a Peng, I don’t know how many miles it is; when it flies in anger, its wings are like hanging down.
Clouds in the sky.
When Peng migrates to Nanming, the water hits him for three thousand miles, surges upward for ninety thousand miles, and then rests for six months.
The transformation of the Kunpeng, leaping out of the abyss, taking to the air, turning into a Peng, and soaring up to the nine heavens, is called great freedom and freedom.
Some people say that this is when Kun broke the shackles of the sea and turned into a roc, soaring freely between heaven and earth.
Therefore, if we want to be free and at ease, we must break away from the constraints of rules and regulations.
However, the Peng's soaring is still between heaven and earth, and it is also bound by heaven and earth. How can we say that this is free and at ease?
Lingqing believed that what Kun broke was not the shackles of rules and regulations, but his own inner thought that rules and regulations were shackles.
By cultivating your mind and cultivating your mind, only by breaking away from the prison of the underworld in your heart can you flap your wings and become a roc, free and easy between heaven and earth.
When you think that the world of mortals has bound your heart, and the laws and regulations have hindered your freedom.
In fact, as long as you can get rid of the prejudice in your heart, you will see that the sea of turbidity will be cleared, and the world of mortals will become a world apart.
Even if you don't understand it, you can just separate the world from the world.
Entering the world as Kun, being born as Peng.
The world only sees Kun transforming into a Peng, but not the Peng transforming into a Kun.
It should be noted that when Kun came out of the Northern Ming Dynasty, he transformed into a Peng, and when Peng flew to the Southern Ming Dynasty, he transformed into a Kun again.
