Chapter 1 Monte Town

In the 335th year of the Frant calendar, the town of Bossey was led by the Frant Kingdom.

Monte Town is located in a remote area in the eastern part of the Frant Kingdom. It is a semi-plain and half-mountain town. Most of the residents living here rely on farming to survive. Occasionally, they will hunt small wild beasts in the surrounding forest to improve their lives. However, few people dare to go deeper. The powerful beasts in the forest can easily kill people.

On a summer night, the old Yat family, who had just finished supper, sat at the entrance of the yard to enjoy the cool air.

Lao Yat is an authentic farmer with a hunched back, a face full of wrinkles, a dense white hair on his head, and a mouthful of dry tobacco in his mouth. However, Lao Yat is only in his thirties this year.

Sitting next to him was his wife, Sisi, who was also as wrinkled on her face as old Yat. While talking to Old Yat, she was busy sewing clothes in her hands.

There was a child sitting between the two of them, about eight or nine years old, with a pretty face, with a head of black hair hanging on her head, and stars seemed to be flashing in her black eyes. At this time, she was holding her legs and staring at the bottom without moving, as if she was looking at something interesting.

"Oren, your uncle Bert will come back to visit us in a few days. He works in a blacksmith shop in Bosay City. He used to hear him that he can earn several silver coins every month. I want you to follow him to learn ironwork and learn crafts well. If you learn this crafts, you will have your own foundation in your life. You won't have to work hard to farm like us! Your life will be better in the future. How about it, do you want to go?"

Old Yat took a sip of dry tobacco and said to Oren beside him.

Sisi just listened quietly and didn't say anything. Although she couldn't bear to leave the young child, she also knew that it was for the child's good.

The remaining food left after their family worked hard to farm in a year was barely enough to eat, and they didn't earn a few copper coins a year.

And little Oren, who was squatting among them, didn't say much, just replied softly.

"I know my father, I listen to you."

Then the whole family fell into silence.

...

A few days later, in the evening, the old Yat family, who were eating supper, suddenly heard the sound of a man coming from outside.

"Brother, I'm back."

While speaking, the man had already walked in. The man looked a little honest and had a little dark and red face. It should have been caused by working in the blacksmith shop for a long time.

While eating, Old Yat quickly stood up and said to the man.

"Bert, you're back! Have you eaten? Sit down and have dinner, Ceci, go and get the tableware for Bourne, come Oren, this is your Uncle Bert, call him uncle."

Little Oren quickly stood up and screamed shyly at the man.

"Uncle Bert."

"No need to take my sister-in-law, I've eaten on the way here!"

Burt quickly said to Sisi who had stood up.

"This is little Oren! They have grown so big, alas, time is so fast. I remember you were so old when I came back from Bosai City last time!"

Burt said to Oren with a distance between his hands, while Orn just smiled shyly at his uncle. He was also very curious about this uncle. His uncle would occasionally send some money to their house. He often listened to his father, Old Yat, about this. He knew that this uncle worked in the blacksmith shop in Bosay City, and he had never seen it in the outside world.

"How long can you stay here this time? You haven't been back for several years, so you must stay for a few more days this time!"

Old Yat preached to Bert with some excitement.

"I'm going back tomorrow, brother! This time I've been back with my friend's caravan. I want to stay for a few more days and spend a few more days at home, but I can't go back to Bosai City alone. It's still very dangerous not to say the journey is long, so there's nothing I can do about it. Brother."

"well!"

After hearing this, Old Yat sighed heavily and said nothing. He knew this, but he just didn't know when the two brothers will meet again next time.

"Then take Oren with you when you go back. I want him to learn craftsmanship with you, and you won't have to plant a land like me for the rest of your life."

Old Yat then said to Burt.

"I have this plan to come back this time. Let Oren follow me to Bosai City, and life will be easier in the future. I can teach him some things there, and let him read some books and read some words."

"Well! I can feel more at ease with Oren in the future. If I can read and read, it would be even better."

"Okay, let's not talk about this anymore. How have you been doing in the past few years? I haven't seen you come back in the past few years. Every time I ask someone to bring you a message. Have you ever found a brother and sister-in-law for me and your sister-in-law? Tell us about your experience in Bosai City in the past few years!"

"What brother and sister are you looking for? Brother, don't you know me yet? Okay, let our little Oren have a first understanding of the outside world, hahaha! When I first arrived in Bosai City with the caravan..."

That night Oren learned a lot of novel things from his uncle and a lot of outside worlds. He also developed a great yearning for the outside world. He wanted to go to the outside world to see the prosperity of Uncle Bert, but he was not willing to stay at home and farm for the rest of his life. He wanted to go and see the wonderful things outside.

The next day, the old Yats were packing Oren's things. A small cloth bag contained only a few pieces of changing clothes, and there was nothing else to clean up.

"Oren, after you get outside, follow your Uncle Bert, you must listen carefully to him. Your uncle won't harm you. You can do whatever he asks you to do. Did you hear it? Follow him and learn things well, so you will have your own way out in the future. Do you know if it is!"

Old Att reminded Oren slightly harshly.

"Yeah, my father, I know, I will listen to Uncle Bert's words carefully."

Little Oren replied to Old Yat even more, that he felt reluctant to leave Oren, who had never left his parents, but had no choice for ordinary people. This was the first time Oren left his hometown and his parents.

Sisi, who was standing beside him, wiping tears while packing up Aoun’s things, as if he wanted to put all her reluctance into this small package.

"Come on, take it, and go to the city where you spend money everywhere. Don't save it. I will ask someone to send it to you when it's gone."

While speaking, Old Yat stuffed a few copper coins into Oren's hand, but Oren knew that these were one of the few copper coins in the house. Oren swallowed and didn't speak, but just held the copper coins in his hand tightly.

While he was speaking, footsteps and Bert's voice came from outside.

"Brother, have you all packed up? The caravan is about to set off, where is Oren?"

"Well, they've all been packed up, Oren is here!"

While speaking, Bert walked in, looked at Old Yat, and then looked at Oren.

"Carry it and leave! The caravan is about to set off, and if you don't leave, you won't be able to catch up. Don't cry Oren, learn your skills well after you arrive in the city, and then you will take your parents to the city to live a good life!"

"Well, I know Uncle Bert!"

"Bert, little Oren will ask you to take care of you."

"Don't worry, brother, don't you understand me yet? I will take good care of Oren."

Then the group left the house and walked towards the caravan's location.

The caravans travel between villages and towns, and the caravans also rely on caravans to supplement their daily necessities, such as salt, and the caravans sometimes stop in villages and towns.

After the old Yat family followed Burt to the caravan's location, a curly-haired man walked towards them.

"Have the matter been handled? Bert! The caravan is about to set off, and I said I'm going to call you!"

The man said to Bert.

"Well, everything has been handled and you can leave at any time. Let me introduce you to me. This is my elder brother and sister-in-law."

Bourn pointed at the old Yats and said to the man.

Then he pointed at Oren and introduced.

"This is Oren, my nephew! He will follow me to Bosay City this time."

"Brother and sister-in-law, this is Ger, the manager of the caravan, and also my good friend. This time I came back with his caravan."

"Hello, manager Gle!"

The old Yats said to Gle.

"Hello."

Ger said to the old Yats with a smile.

"Since you've handled it all, let's go!"

Then the group walked towards the caravan, and after arriving, Ger separated from them. He was the manager of the caravan and had many things to deal with.

When he arrived at a carriage, Burt carried Little Oren to the carriage and turned around and said to the old Yats and his wife.

"You guys go back, brother and sister-in-law, I will take good care of Oren, don't worry!"

"Then please, Bert."

Then he said to Oren.

"You have to listen carefully to your Uncle Bert, do you know? Oren."

"I get it, father."

Oren nodded heavily.

As he spoke, the voice of Ger's manager came from front of him.

"Set off!"

As the caravan slowly walked away, Oren watched his parents' figure gradually blur. He was about to leave this familiar place and leave his parents. He headed to an unknown world and an unknown future.
