Chapter 885 Limping in front of the lame man

Author: Erzi Congzhou

"Salt Rat and I can testify to this." Zhou Zhi nodded: "We are both simple, especially in junior high school. I know that Wen Yu and Panda have never even held hands."

"You..." Fang Wenyu was a little confused: "How do you know?"

"Do you remember when we watched "Girls Rangers" together? The one by He Qing." Zhou Zhi asked.

"Remember, I organized it." Fang Wenyu said.

"After the movie ended, we sent Panda and Shiqing home. When we arrived at Qiaotou, Yan Mouse and I didn't leave. We watched Shiqing go back to the dormitory, and then we'll wait for you to send Xiong Jiao home and then join us at Qiaotou..."

"It was like this at the time." Fang Wenyu recalled: "What happened?"

"After Shiqing left, Salt Rat said it was boring. Why don't we go see Panda and Marshal? I agreed."

"You..." Fang Wenyu didn't know whether to laugh or cry: "I found out that you two can't be together. You really never do good things!"

"Hahahaha..." The friends burst out laughing together.

After everyone had finished laughing, Zhou Zhi said: "So the kind of good feelings between Dashuai and Panda can only be called hazy at best, but now with Xinxin, right?"

"Oh——" The friends started to cheer again.

"Anyway, no matter what, don't make random jokes on us when we get to Yizhou. I don't care. It won't be good if it affects the relationship between Liu Tao and Panda."

"Don't worry, we won't tell." Feng Xueshan said with a smile: "Actually, the panda misses everyone, but she has strong self-control and is stable. Unlike me, she doesn't call her elbow."

"We were also talking about work." Zhou Zhi said casually.

"Hahahaha..." These words made everyone laugh inexplicably.

Only when he saw Feng Xueshan's blank eyes and Jiang Shuyi's red face did Zhou Zhi react: "You really... I really didn't mean to explain anything..."

"Hahahaha..." The friends laughed even more happily.

As we ate and chatted like this, it gradually became late at night. Liang Hong touched her belly and said, "Why don't you remove the things first? Just leave the beer. This way you can eat a lot without showing off."

"How are we going to sleep tonight?" Guan Tingting asked, "Is it the same as when we were camping?"

"It's almost the same. It's hot anyway, so you don't need to cover yourself with a quilt." Zhou Zhi said, "It's good to use the sofa pillow as a pillow."

"Then why don't I lie down and chat?" Guan Tingting said and lay down: "Come on, come on, let's all lie down and chat."

A dozen people were lying in the living room, some lying on their stomachs and some lying on their backs. Yang He suddenly said quietly: "If our children are told this experience in the future, will they believe it?"

"It's hard to tell." Zhou Zhi said: "By that time, the world will definitely become more and more materialistic and realistic, so materialistic and realistic that it will be difficult for men and women to tolerate friendship, so that they can no longer believe it, or

I don’t want to maintain the friendship we have now.”

"If we treat relationships like business and require returns on investment, we will naturally think that what we are doing is a stupid thing that wastes money."

"If one day you no longer look for love, just love; no longer desire success, just do it; no longer pursue empty growth, just start cultivating your own temperament; everything in your life will truly begin." Jiang Shu

I thought quietly.

"Shu Yi, who wrote this?" Feng Xueshan lay beside Jiang Shuyi and asked, "It seems pretty good."

"I don't know, I just listened to Zhou Zhi read it."

"Elbow?"

"I can't remember where I saw it." Zhou Zhi said, "It's not Gibran anyway."

Zhou Zhi actually read this paragraph from the Internet in later generations. It is said to be a poem by Gibran. However, Zhou Zhi has read Gibran's complete works and does not have this paragraph at all.

"There is a poem by Kahlil Gibran that I don't understand." Feng Xueshan asked: "It's the one called "Seven times have I despised my soul."

Zhou Zhi laughed when he heard this: "You are reading the free translation, right?"

"How do you know?"

"Because that version is full of unnecessary hypocrisy." Zhou Zhi said: "And the translator's English level is somewhat poor."

Although Feng Xueshan's English level is quite good, this poem obviously exceeds her ability to understand.

The most important thing is that there are two "official translations" of this poem, but both of them are very imprecise, causing readers who read the translation and then read the original text to become even more confused.

For example, the title of the poem, the free version translates it as "My Heart Has Been Sad Seven Times", which is simply bullying everyone who doesn't understand English.

It is clearly "I despised my soul seven times", and the literal translation is very accurate, but the free translation is just a nonsense, and for the so-called "honesty and elegance", even the authenticity has been lost.

Also, the translation of the first sentence is wrong: "The first time when I saw her being meek that she might attain height."

Both versions translated it as "The first time, when she could be promoted but was willing to give in." or "The first time, when I saw that she could be promoted but was willing to be humble."

"Zhou Zhi said that actually this sentence should be an uncommon expression. That ignores so here, it should be so that." Jiang Shuyi said: "So the accurate translation of this sentence, Zhou Zhi said, should be: Chapter 1

Once, when she was flattered by the opportunity of promotion."

"It is also customary abroad to use the female she. The accurate translation should be the animal it." Zhou Zhi said: "We Chinese are more accustomed to calling our souls the non-human it."

"It turns out that she refers to my soul..." Feng Xueshan suddenly realized: "But the second sentence is translated as: The second time, when it is empty, fill it with love. I checked the original text and it is The second time when I saw

her limping before the crippled. Translated, it should be the second time. I saw it limping in front of the crippled person."

"Hahaha..." Zhou Zhi laughed and said: "Kahlil Gibran did use metaphors from religious poetry here, but in order to be clever, the translator abandoned the literal translation and brought the metaphor to the stage."

"Jiuzi said that the translator was afraid that the readers would not know that he knew. This is the most ridiculous part of the translation. In fact, Xueshan's translation is the most correct."

"But what does this sentence mean? I don't quite understand why limping in front of a cripple is a behavior that Gibran feels should be despised?"

"First of all, this is not a behavior," Zhou Zhi said, "it's just a metaphor."

"A lame person can actually understand the pain of others. In order not to embarrass the lame person, he deliberately allows himself to imitate him and regards it as a kind of kindness and virtue. This is actually a kind of hypocrisy that needs to be despised."

"What does the lame need? Of course it's a crutch. If you really want to express your kindness, you need to give the lame a crutch instead of pretending to be a lame in front of the lame. This is like saying

:I understand your pain, look, can I imitate it well, and do I understand it deeply?"

"Is this kindness and virtue? Of course not, this is a stupid self-impression."

"Gibran is known as a 'prophet' poet. He has a profound understanding of those aspects of Western society that should be ridiculed most. Look at the current performance of Western countries in some parts of the world. Is it full of the flavor of 'limping in front of a lame man'?"
