Chapter 12 Crew Lunch

Roger Coleman quickly left the set. He had to go to the hospital to check out Allen, and then took his lawyer to the police station to bail Joe Dante. The life of a millionaire is always very busy. However, the president's assistant Gale stayed at the scene.

Today is a sunny day, and the sun is already rising high. The photography director said that he can only take some close-ups and close-up shots now, and use a reflector to fill up the light. Otherwise, the shadows on his face will make the movie look like Hitchcock's thriller under the direct sunlight of high angles.

Ronald and Jim selected some suitable shots together, and continued shooting after the photography director approved it.

These sets of shots are about the new female principal Evelyn Toga (played by Marie Voronov), who heard someone playing rock music on the radio to catch the perpetrator.

She took the big scissors and cut off the audio cable of Liv Randall's record player. Then she asked everyone who was the leader, and as long as the leader was handed over, everyone else would be innocent.

Kate Lanbao, the good girl, stood up and said she did it herself. Of course, Liv Randall is indispensable. The two were announced to be punished by Principal Evelyn Toga today after school.

Ronald found that if the actors rehearse well and the crew cooperated tacitly, the filming was very rhythmic. The actors moved, lighted, rehearsed, real shots, changed the set props, arranged the cameras, the actors moved, lighted... and repeated.

Maybe Ronald's requirements are low (he has no dream guidance and does not know whether the filming is good or not), or maybe he respects the opinions of the crew staff (he doesn't know anyway), and today's crew shooting speed is actually three points faster than when directors Allen and Joe were directed.

By 10:50 am, I had already taken pictures. Only a few panoramic views and long shots were left. I couldn't use the reflector to fool the light. I could only wait for the magic light before and after sunset before taking pictures.

"The filming in the morning is over, and now lunch time is all the crew, rest for 1 hour." Ronald shouted with the electric speaker.

The summer time just ended, and the Pacific time zone is still a bit weird. It is sunrise at around 6 am and sunset at around 4 pm. The lunch time is set at 11 pm.

The extras ran back to the teaching building to have dinner, and the principal of Van Nais High School welcomed the crew to film. As a high school in the West Hollywood area, there are many literary and artistic students among the students. They have been influenced by movies since childhood. They joined the drama club in elementary school and hope to enter the film industry in the future. If a crew comes to high school for scenes, it is a good thing to have the annual assessment of the school district and it is also conducive to attracting students.

So the school treats guests today, eating pizza and drinking coke. This makes the crew members who are average in food happy. The stingy crew has little budget for diet, and usually only have cheap hot dogs and instant coffee.

Ronald, Jim and Gale sat together to eat domino pizza. This is a popular chain delivery recently. It tastes not surprisingly, but it was delivered very quickly and it was still hot when I got it. Ronald ate a few slices of pizza, drank a can of coke, and patted his stomach with satisfaction.

Gale tasted much more elegantly. He used plastic knife and fork at the beginning, but under Jim's guidance, he quickly started to use it directly, covering his mouth while eating.

I don't know what joke Jim said, which made Gale giggle and tremble.

Ronald took out a pair of sunglasses from his waist bag and put them on. Today he was a senior executive of the crew, so he sat in a better seat, with a backrest on the chair. He leaned back comfortably, and felt quite relaxed. There was basically nothing to shoot in the afternoon, so he organized several actors to rehearse and strive for one before and after sunset.

The advantage of wearing sunglasses is that others cannot see through what your eyes are looking at. Ronald closes his eyes, breathes flat, and rests his eyes. He is different from most Amerikas and likes to take a break at noon. However, in this country where people are proud of their physical strength, naps are likely to make people think that they are not energetic, either in poor health or laziness, so Ronald wears sunglasses to cover up.

Today he is a temporary director and is destined to be unable to rest. Soon Jim came over to inquire about the secrets taught by Roger Coleman in the morning. Ronald took off his sunglasses, took out his small notebook, and told him one by one. Jim nodded while listening, "I would have known this when I was filming a short film."

"Have you made short films?" Ronald didn't know that he had this history. Gale knew something, "Yes, Jim brought the short film at that time, and Mr. Coleman admired his talent and asked him to study filmmaking in the company."

"Oh, what kind of subject is it? Is your copy still there? When will I have the chance to read it?" Ronald became interested.

"It's a science fiction film, 12 minutes and 07 seconds. I transferred him to the vhs video tape and I have the chance to show it to you."

"I live without a video recorder, so I'd better have a chance to watch it at the company. How much does it cost to shoot that short film? How did you raise money?" Ronald was a little envious of Jim. He knew that Jim was definitely not a child from a wealthy family, and both of them secretly used McDonald's coupons to eat.

"I found 12 dentists to convince them to raise funds and invest in the auction."

"Science fiction movies? That costs a lot of money on props and special effects, right? You can shoot them at $24,000, which is amazing."

"Ah, the main part of the money is two machine models, the kind of people sitting in the fight. It cost a lot of money, and the actors squat in the middle and couldn't perform. I could only shoot separately. The actors sat on a chair and pretended to be starting a combat robot, and then filmed the scenes of the machine models fighting each other, edited together, creating a feeling of the actors driving a combat robot."

When talking about his favorite science fiction film, Jim began to talk endlessly. Ronald suspected that if this "Rock High School" was a teenager movie with a lot of music and dance, Jim would definitely compete with him to be a temporary director.

"It seems that New World has made many science fiction films?" Ronald asked Gale.

"Yes. But last year George Lucas' "Star Wars" raised the threshold for science fiction films a lot. Mr. Coleman turned out that sci-fi films that only know how to shoot green light were not easy to sell." Gale smiled and started making a laser gun.

"Ronald, can you still give us a close-up view?" A voice came from the side.

Ronald turned his head and the two dancing sexy bombs, Chris Soma, and Mara Rosenfield, visited together.

The two changed their costumes and are now wearing T-shirts and jeans, but they still can't cover their youth. One blonde, the other brunette, and two pairs of big eyes staring at the young interim director.

Ronald felt a little overwhelmed and put on his sunglasses, "Hi, Chris, Mara. My temporary directorship ends today. The only remaining part of today is the role of the female principal played by Mary Voronov, which can make you dance on the roadside as a background. I can't add a one-man show to you."

"Oh, thank you, if only you were the real director."

"Yes, I think you're better than Allen."

The two beauties immediately complimented.

"Don't say that, you two are very photogenic (real), dance the best (fake), and there are still dance scenes after this movie. I think Dance Sina will definitely recommend you."

Ronald quickly interrupted their complaints and gave them a message, asking for the real right to recommend their dance fingers. The two beauties thanked him and went to find the dance fingers Siana.

"Puchi", Gale looked at the backs of the two beauties and laughed, "Ronard, you can be a diplomat."

"Well, I'm just telling the truth."

"The truth? You just selectively tell them part of the truth." Gail understood clearly, "The director who can finally determine their fate in this low-cost movie."

"It's nothing wrong with that, Mr. Coleman told me before that his movie audiences are not watching the story, but watching young beauties dance disco, and they are most in line with the audience's expectations."

"It seems you understand them very much?" Gail asked, frowned.

"Yes, I understand them quite well. Movies are a magical art that allows tens of millions of viewers to see you. As a student in a public school, having a few frontal shots in the movie can be considered a dream in my heart, right?"

Ronald stood up and took all the pizza boxes and coke jars into the garbage bag. "Today, the school treats guests, and finally no need to eat hot dogs. I don't have to count the heads to prevent outsiders from coming to steal food." As he said that, he laughed with Jim. This was one of their important tasks, and he laughed with Gale.
