Chapter 23 Jims Talent

Ronald and Jim began to look at the shooting materials of the second group. The two made a plan to take pictures of what shots to take in the next five days.

Gale helped contact the photographer and agreed to meet at 5:30 am tomorrow Monday to take the opening shot at Mount Carmel High School.

The next morning, Ronald met the photographer, a common British photographer in Hollywood. Ronald deliberately changed it to a "New Concept English" recording tone, with a bit of British BBC broadcast accent.

The photographer laughed happily and told some jokes about himself being drunk and making a fool of himself to get closer.

The three of them quickly became familiar with each other and cooperated to prepare for the shooting.

"I want a still shot, about 3-5 seconds, a gentle ray of sunshine shines on the teaching building."

"Wait, wait, gentle sunshine? How do you ask me to take the gentle sunshine?" The photographer protested.

"Normal shooting, the sunshine after sunrise is already gentle, right?"

"In this way, I will adjust the parameters to make the aperture smaller. This Kodak sunlight film is an old model. It is estimated that it will be a little whiter after being shipped for one year. This way the yellow sunrise can be 'gent'."

"Listen to you."

"Roger Coleman gave the remaining garbage from the previous crew again." Jim complained.

Cut!

Finish.

"Where are we in the next shot?"

"Wait, under a big sign with the school name written on it."

"That's nothing. Let's get in the car and look for any suitable ones nearby."

The camera was removed from the stand, the three of them packed up and got on the crew's van.

"Did you know there is such a big sign there? We're going to take a close shot." Ronald asked the driver.

"Big sign? Well, there is a billboard on the back wall of the school. Do you think it's OK?"

The driver stepped on the accelerator and the car arrived at the back of Mount Carmel High School. It turned out to be the stadium, with weeds growing half a person tall. The stadium was surrounded by barbed wire, just near the road, and a large billboard was erected on the side of the road, with the height being just right.

"Very good, you have a very good vision, and the place you choose is very good."

"Put Jim into the school name."

The four of them took off the folding ladder and put it on the billboard. Ronald and the driver were on the side, and Jim directed below, "High the left, and higher the left, OK, just right."

The billboard was pasted with yellow background and green words "Vince Lombardy High School".

Vince Lombardy is the most famous football coach and has won two Super Bowl titles. He has coached in the military rugby team and emphasized discipline. It is similar to the philosophy of Toga Principal in "Rock High School". In other words, the character of Toga Principal is imitated by Vince Lombardy.

The photographer confirms OK through the viewfinder.

Ronald took out the stage board himself, filled in the scene number, and slapped it in front of the camera with a bang, then raised his hand to look at the watch "One, two, three, four, five..., OK, Cut!"

The second group's shooting is scattered and trivial. Just take one or two shots in one place. Most of the time I spend waiting for light, installing and disassembling the camera, and laying out the scene props.

Ronald thoroughly understood what Roger Coleman taught him to focus the scene. It was too slow to take a shot in such a place.

All three of them have some experience and cooperated with each other. After three days, they took pictures of Jerry Zach's planned shots.

Jim also directed a motorcycle scene, where he rode a motorcycle himself. The photographer sat in front of him and held the camera to take a subjective shot. According to the photographer, the audience would see the scene as if he was riding on a motorcycle.

This was of course Jim's idea. He used the old way to lower the shooting. He was running a 20-mile motorcycle at a slow speed, and he was photographed as if he was racing.

After the filming that day, Ronald and his friends sent the film to New World production, waiting to be sent to the printing, and happened to meet their boss Roger Coleman.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Coleman."

"Oh, Ronald, how did you shoot?"

"We have completed most of the second set of filming. We will go to Mount Carmel High School tomorrow. Director Allen will shoot the explosion scene with two machines. There will be a phone booth the day after tomorrow. We have to wait for the two protagonists PJ and Dai Yang to finish the gymnastics session, and then the shooting of the 'Rock High School' can be packed (Wrap Up)."

Packaging is a Hollywood jargon, which is equivalent to the completion of Chinese, and is a metaphor for the end of the shooting stage. Everyone packs the camera and film to indicate the meaning of the shooting.

"Very good. I like your working style very much, fast, accurate, and artistic." Roger praised him.

"I have written your recommendation letter and asked Gail to send it out with your application. If you graduate from college, don't forget to come and make a movie for me."

"Of course, Mr. Coleman. Not all Hollywood bosses give me and Jim the chance like you." Ronald thanked Roger Coleman from the bottom of his heart. The boss was very letting go of the talents he recognized, so Ronald had the opportunity to be a director alone.

"Where is Jim? Let him come to the office to find me. I will ask him to report to the stunt department of the new film. This kid's mind is full of stunts and models. He has been looking for me several times."

"He seems to be waiting for you at Gale, Mr. Coleman, you can see him when you go up."

Roger Coleman nodded and walked into the office.

When Ronald heard that his application had been sent, he couldn't help but look forward to college life. Is Columbia in the Ivy League or New York University in Manhattan? Speaking of which, the sunshine in Westwood District of Los Angeles is also very good, and UCLA is located there, very suitable, very close to Hollywood.

Ronald stood at the front desk, drinking instant coffee while imagining his college career.

After about two drinks, Jim came down from the upper floor and shouted at himself in joy.

"I'm going to do a stunt model, Ronnie!"

"Congratulations!" Ronald hugged Jim tightly. As a human being, being able to realize his dream and turn his hobbies into work is something worth celebrating.

"After Christmas holiday"

“That happens, we can also go to the ‘Rock High School’ package party together.”

Jim's excitement had not subsided yet, and he suddenly remembered:

"By the way, I brought my short video. Will you watch it together later?"

"Okay, are you going to wait for Gail to go with him? Has she seen it?"

"She said she only watched the last minute and didn't see the whole thing."

"Then you go and call her, I'll ask the photographer to prepare the video recorder in the conference room." Ronald really didn't know how to connect to the TV with a VHS recorder.

After a while, the four of them started watching Jim's short film in the conference room.

The clarity of this VHS video tape is very poor, and the title of the film "Xenogenesis" appeared at the beginning.

Letters appear on the screen like a typewriter typing, and Jim also comes with some electronic sound effects, which is a bit like the popular Atari game console nowadays.

Then there is the cast and crew list. The Sony TV is only 21 inches in size and the subtitles are not clear. Ronald and the other two need to distinguish them carefully.

The subtitles are very long and boring. The 12-minute short film, the opening subtitles with black and white characters took a minute. Fortunately, I finally saw the director's words appear, and Ronald knew that the subtitles were finally over.

Hollywood convention, the last one of the opening subtitles is the director, Ameriga's habit, putting the most important people at the end of the list.

director:

Then a name is spelled out by letter.

James Cameron.

"This James is you, Jim?" Jim was James' short name, and Ronald never asked Jim's full name.

"Yes."
