6- Shooting Venue
The audition in the bedroom lasted until the evening. The two went downstairs to drive to the convenience store and bought two packs of cigarettes, pizza and some small umbrellas. His inventory was exhausted in the afternoon, and the beautiful neighbor obviously had no intention of leaving.
While eating pizza, he seized time on the balcony to draw story shots. The beautiful neighbor was wearing his white shirt and eating pizza and watching the script.
"Wayne, I just called the agent and she will come to sign the contract tomorrow. Did you know that if I didn't have this role, I would fly back to Australia in two days to continue acting in damn TV series or commercials, and polish my acting skills?"
"So, don't mess it up. If you don't want to fly back to your motherland in shame, it's very important to me to you. If you mess it up, I will definitely not be able to find investment again, and you may leave here."
He didn't raise his head and said while drawing.
"Well, don't you think it's getting late? Maybe I can show you a little more special "acting" and don't you come to audition?"
Wayne watched her turn gently and lift her white shirt, turn around and hook her tongue, slowly twisting towards the bathroom. Looking at the scenery that makes people's bloody, he whistled, put down the pencil in his hand, and the two entered the bathroom together.
After a crazy night, just like in the movie, Wayne woke up and the beautiful neighbor was making breakfast. It seems that if a woman does something with a purpose, it will at least make the man feel extremely comfortable.
When he heard someone knocking on the door, Wayne opened the door and stood outside the door with a middle-aged woman in a professional outfit.
"Sorry, is Miss Watts here? I went across from her and she didn't go back."
He moved away, waited for her to come in, closed the door and went to the bathroom to take a shower.
"Hey, Jenny, are you going to have some breakfast? I made scrambled eggs and bacon."
The beautiful neighbor greeted him and put the plate on the coffee table with a smile on his face.
"Listen, you shouldn't be paying for a novice director who hasn't graduated, a small independent film that you can make. This circle is very messy, especially in the independent film circle. After playing it, you have much more turn against each other than keeping your promises."
The agent of the beautiful neighbor was obviously not optimistic about the project and felt that she shouldn't be so impulsive. Seeing her outfit, she understood what happened last night.
"Oh! Damn it, I've been in Hollywood for almost a year. What else have you done besides introducing me to a few supporting roles without lines? If I don't seize the opportunity, I can only return to Australia in shame to perform stage plays and shoot commercials. Those Bichi will definitely lie on the ground with a smile, at least he is very handsome, right?"
Jenny had nothing to say about this. She signed many actresses and didn't have so many resources to give a newcomer, even if she was very beautiful.
Wayne waited for them to finish talking in the bathroom before pretending to have just come out of the shower, pretending not to hear everything, and sat at the dining table for breakfast as if nothing had happened.
"Sorry, Jenny, is it Jenny? Someone will send a contract later. You know, if an actor wants to sign a contract, he must have an agent present."
He turned to his agent and said, "This is so normal in Hollywood, he doesn't care about it at all. At least this agent has the idea of protecting customers and reminding customers. Such an agent is just qualified."
Just after eight o'clock, Luke knocked on Wayne's door with a large bag of information.
He briefly introduced them. He picked up the information brought by Luke, and first under Jenny's witness, the beautiful neighbor signed the contract. Wayne also breathed a sigh of relief. Such a beautiful and low-priced actor, and was destined to be famous, was really hard to find. King Kong was more than ten years later, but he was deeply impressed.
The remaining information is the contract for renting equipment. Wayne signed the name after reading it.
"Wayne, where is the hospital? Where are you going to shoot the outdoor scene of the hospital in the script?"
Luke asked him.
"I remember there was an abandoned mental hospital in the suburbs of Orange County? Let's take time to observe it. OK, if it's appropriate, I'll set it up. I don't have that much money to build a studio, or I'll find a commercial hospital to rent it."
He had no choice. He didn't dare to let go of spending money. Without the control of the producer or producer, he could only save every penny by himself.
"That's it. Today I'm going to see Jimmy's customers. I hope the novice actors of Caa can perform well. We will hold a meeting together tomorrow. When we are ready, we will go to school to start the filming process. The shooting cycle can only be two months at most. I will set aside time for the post-production."
"Okay, you are the boss, you have the final say."
Wayne shrugged and continued to Luke:
"We both have to go to Vincent High School in Orange County in the morning. I want to put the school scenes in that school. I have been to that high school, and the conditions are very suitable, provided that we can convince the school to allow us to go in and shoot. This is not a day or two, and it will take a long time to shoot."
Luke looked at him helplessly, took the coffee handed to him by the beautiful neighbor, and said to Wayne:
"It's very difficult. Even in public schools, teachers don't want the crew to enter and disturb teaching. Besides, the one you mentioned is a private school. If we go in and shoot, the school will face punishment if there are any complaints from the parents of students."
"It depends on how to convince the principal, Luke. Our condition is that the name of their school will definitely appear in the movie, appear clearly, and give the school a few places and choose a few children as the background supporting role in the movie.
I will tell the principal that this will help their school increase visibility and make it easier for them to recruit students. And letting children participate in the shooting of a movie will help increase their enthusiasm for practice.”
He thought very thoughtfully. If it was a public school, it was hard to say, but it was not certain that it was a private one. His choice was not just one. If he couldn't agree, it would be better to change one.
"Well, it's nine o'clock soon, we have to go out quickly. Ms. Watts, please lock the door if you leave."
He said as he put on his coat, took the car keys, opened the door and walked out with Luke.
"Hey, Wayne, I should read the script here on you. Do I need me to prepare lunch for you?"
The beautiful neighbors are obviously not simple people, or if they can get involved in this circle, there is no simple person.
"No, thank you."
The two of them went downstairs to drive a pickup truck straight to Orange County, a small town that is almost a Los Angeles satellite city. Luke drove the car and saw Wayne still reading the information in the co-pilot, and couldn't help but ask him:
"Wayne, why is Orange County?"
“What?”
"I mean, why do you want to go to Orange County? It's not more convenient to shoot in Los Angeles."
Luke explained.
"No, different Luke. I believe that in Los Angeles we didn't have the chance to find a school without spending money. The surrounding Orange County is the most suitable, and accommodation is cheaper, and the abandoned mental hospital I first like is also in the suburbs of Orange County, so I have to consider it all."
He put away the information and explained it to Luke seriously.
"Hit, are you starting to think about the crew's food and accommodation issues now?"
Luke was surprised. Unexpectedly, he had given priority to these before the shooting location was confirmed.
He also had a helpless expression:
"I don't want to do it either, but there is no production manager. You just came here. I need to make all preparations in advance, and it's not a plan. I'm now considering the problems I will encounter when I sleep."
Luke, who was driving, suddenly felt that this guy might succeed when he heard what he said, or I was really sorry for his efforts. I hope this film can be shot and can enter the theater.
Until Orange County, Wayne was asking Luke to prepare for shooting coordinatedly, especially the props, only the props are the only one, and at most two miscellaneous people are added. Luke must be attentive to help.
Luke parked the car at the school gate, sat in the car, took out a notebook and recorded the work Wayne asked him to prepare. While thinking, he was still deleting it. His enthusiasm for work at least completely inspired the senior.
About an hour later, Luke saw Wayne in the car with the contract and asked him
"Wayne, how about it? Have you finished talking?"
He shook the contract in his hand and smiled rare.
"Of course, there is no need to rent a venue fee for the school, and the school will cooperate with us in the shooting. The price is that the name of their school must appear in the movie, appear clearly for five seconds, and then let a few children play a supporting role as social practice."
To be honest, this is not easy, but fortunately he brought the studio information and project information to increase persuasion.
"Beautiful job, are we going back now?"
Luke started riding his bike and was about to walk back.
"No, Luke, there is one more thing you need to do. I called and booked a small hotel and needed you to talk about the price. If it is suitable, our crew will have to shoot here for about one to two months."
Wayne pointed him at the road. Two blocks away was the small hotel Wayne consulted. The hotel has three floors in total, and it looks like the buildings from the past year, mottled walls and traces of time.
The two of them parked the car and walked in together. Wayne reminded Luke:
"Although their offer is not high, I still hope to put it in a little more pressure. If you work hard, I am taking over and not looking for it again."
After entering the hotel, he sat on the sofa in the hall, watched Luke go to the front desk to ask, and then was taken to the back. Half an hour later, Luke came out and nodded to him. The two of them kept driving to Los Angeles.
"Wayne, we haven't decided the specific number of people yet, but the price I negotiated with the hotel is already very low. I said that we will stay for about one to two months, and they will provide three meals. After we count the number of people, we will come here to check in and sign the contract."
He thought it was OK, but his request was to save as much money as possible, because he was not sure if there would be any accidents in the shooting.
"Okay, but yours is about to open soon. In the afternoon, I also made an appointment with my agent Jimmy to see his clients. He recommended supporting actresses and male leads, both of whom he had just signed for a short time."
He looked at his watch and it was almost noon. After hearing him, Luke gradually increased his speed.
