80 - The beginning of the competition

In the Warner President’s Office, Jeff was about to go back when he heard a knock on the door.

John walked into the office with the data he had just sorted out in his hand.

"Boss, I went to your office, and the secretary told me that you were here." After John finished speaking to Jeff, he handed him the information he was holding.

"Well, on Friday day, the detailed box office of the film was 9.79 million US dollars, and it was a good job! Our own investigator immediately selected 3,500 fans. The questionnaire collected showed that more than 90% of them chose A or A+, and the audience's reputation was very good!"

Jeff looked at the detailed data analysis in his hand and was in a very happy mood. After reading it, he handed it to Kevin Tesuhara.

After John finished reading it, he said carefully: "Boss, one of these data is not shown."

"What?"

"I asked the investigator. Those who scored A or A+ for the video were all young movie fans, almost no one over 30 years old. The other scores were either C or below C!" After John said that, he looked at his boss nervously.

Jeff and Kevin were stunned for a moment, which showed that there were still hidden dangers in the film.

Jeff touched his chin, thought for a while and said, "This shows that most viewers can accept the settings of the video and like it very much. The remaining small number of people hate the video very much."

"Jeff!" Kevin Tessulhara put down the statistics table in her hand, and her relaxed expression obviously didn't care about this issue. "It is normal that this situation will happen. It is impossible for everyone to like videos. We are targeting young people.

And this is a large-scale R-level film, and it is normal for someone to hate the film. The only thing that everyone likes is except gold!”

"You're right," Jeff mumbled.

Meanwhile, in Universal City, California, the oldest film and television production company among the six Hollywood giants, Tom Cruise and his wife were sitting in the conference room with their agents.

Not only Tom Cruise, but also the main staff of "Earth Ambition". It can be said that the core team is meeting here, and they are discussing the subsequent promotional issues of the film.

"Our main opponent seems to be Warner Bros. "Escape from the Deadly Town, now we are completely behind, whether it is the box office of the film or the reputation of the audience!"

Carl Lemler, head of Universal Pictures’ film production department, looked at everyone in the conference room. “Although we had the advantage in the box office on the first day, we all know why.”

The conference room is full of old people in the circle, and everyone understands what this means. If this continues, "The Land Ambition" is very likely to fail. Compared with film investment, Universal Pictures will probably take many years to recover the cost!

Carl Lemler's words had just ended and he sat in the corner of the conference room and made a sound.

"Sir, I suggest you think of a way to do that low-cost thriller."

As soon as he finished speaking, everyone in the conference room looked at the young man in this corner.

"Don't think too much, Adam!" Director Howard reminded him that he had no choice. If it weren't for Feiron's favor, he would never have taken care of this ungrown child.

"Am Adam Goodman?" Carl Lemler looked at the young man and suddenly remembered his identity, his ex's son.

Few people here don't know about Faren Goodman. The latest news he heard was that Faren Goodman chose to settle out of court. Although he didn't have to worry about prison, he paid a large amount of compensation. Now no one knows where his ex went.

"Yes, sir." Seeing everyone looking at him, Adam raised his courage and took out a document from his bag.

"This is some things I have collected, well, there are many of them you have seen. I found a strange thing. Although the movie "Escape from the Deadly Town" has a very good reputation, most of the people who can score are young people.

The middle-aged and elderly people who have watched the video have very low reviews of the video and even dislike them! I have conducted a special investigation."

As he said that, Adam stood up with the information in his hand, and from Carl Lemler, each sent a picture.

Seeing that the main personnel had obtained the information, Adam did not return to the corner, but stood in front of the conference room. He pointed to the information in his hand and continued:

“I specifically investigated the audience with very low ratings, and by talking to them, I found the reason why they hated that video. That’s why this video is too dark!

Hollywood commercial films have their own set of rules. Before this thriller, no film would have used so many African-American main actors, and the ending in the film is the biggest point that fans hate films.

A black male protagonist actually killed all the mainstream ethnic groups. They could not accept such a setting, which is inconsistent with social rules."

Having said that, everyone here understands what he means. Although this reason for being untenable is far-fetched, it is not not an opportunity, it depends on how it works.

"The main audience of the movie has always been young people. Even if we find a way to use this news, the effect will probably not be very good." Lang Howard was still relatively sober. After listening to it, he reminded everyone.

"And the most important point is that I don't know if you have noticed it." After attracting everyone's attention, Lang Howard continued: "There are great differences among the audiences of "The Ambition of Earth" and "Escape from the Deadly Town". It can be said that they are two groups!

Even if we use some means to that film, our own film will not improve very well. I think we should still find a way to promote it!"

He is right, the two videos are not the same type at all, and the natural audience is different. In this way, it is really not a good choice to risk offending Warner Bros. and then make trouble!

When Adam saw everyone thinking about the director's words, he stood in front of him and suddenly felt embarrassed.

"No, Mr. Howard, this news is still useful!" The agent who had been standing behind Tom Cruise spoke before Adam spoke.

"Ms. Kingsley, what are you good at?" Carl Lemler was very interested in his words.

"Our media can use a vague way to remind the public movie fans that this is a film of blacks massacre white people. I think the effect should be good. We can also disclose some information to those gossip tabloids. They don't use a vague way. These tabloids want Warner Brothers to sue them!"

Pat Kingsley said while lit the table with his hands and thought, and slowly the plan was outlined.

"As for the different audiences of the two films, I don't quite agree with this view. We all know that there are only two of us who have released a large scale. If we choose one to choose one..."

"Yes, Ms. Kingsley is talking about my plan!" Adam couldn't wait to jump out. He didn't want to finish the film in obscurity and then disappear into Hollywood. He had to show his abilities!

"It's too late to go in time." Tom Cruise has always been proud. Now, in Hollywood, superstars can count it with one hand, and he is one of them.

Obviously, the proud superstar is reluctant to do so.

"Then start next week!" Carl Lemler made the decision. "You don't have to worry about this. Tom, you can set off as soon as possible to participate in the promotional event. It depends on you how the final box office of the film will be."

"Nei" Carl Lemler called his assistant. "Help me contact some film critics, those who are closer to our Universal Pictures, let them join in..."

The discussion in the conference room slowly ended, and everyone knew that these things could only be done to do. No one knew what the final result was.

The next morning, Tom Cruise saw the news in the newspaper and was so angry that he didn't eat breakfast, so he called Pat Kingsley.

"Dear, don't care about the newspaper reports. Everyone knows what the media is like." Nicole Kidman picked up the newspaper thrown on the ground and sat next to her husband to comfort him.

When she saw the newspaper's report clearly, she immediately understood why he was angry.

"Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise's Waterloo..."

After flipping through the newspaper, the other side also wrote in a huge title: "Tom Cruise's box office appeal is not enough, he was defeated by a small-cost video..."

Nicole Kidman finished reading the report patiently. On Saturday, "Escape from the Deadly Town" won a box office of $19.5 million, while their starring "Ambition of Earth" was only $6.94 million.

This number is simply dazzling. The two videos are completely incomparable, as if their videos are small productions.

Pat Kingsley, who was in a hurry, looked at the ugly customer, and a helpless feeling came.

"Tom, don't worry, we don't have hope!" At this moment, she could only comfort him like this.

"You stay in Los Angeles to cooperate with Universal Pictures' plan, and this time you go out to promote Nicole and I go by myself!"

When he heard Tom Cruise's words, Pat Kingsley was in a dilemma. He was usually quite sober and wouldn't he talk nonsense later.

But if a reporter deliberately angered him, he would become daring to say anything. She was afraid that she would not follow him and no one would remind him in time, which would lead to bigger problems.

She turned her eyes to Nicole Kidman, hoping that she could persuade her husband.

"It's okay for us to go out, don't worry, Pat!" Nicole Kidman meant that she would remind her husband at all times and would not let him talk impulsively.

As an agent, Pat Kingsley is undoubtedly one of the successful ones. Just by bringing out Tom Cruise, a Hollywood star, made her among the top agents.
