Chapter 98: The shelling in the city

As soon as the two of them fell down, they heard a shocking explosion not far away. The huge explosion made Sokov's eardrum feel so painful, as if someone had stabbed it hard with an awl. The explosion of heavy shells exploded a huge crater on the gravel road, and the gravel caused by the air waves splashed everywhere. Several falling gravels hit Sokov's helmet, and his body was stumbled, making him grin.
"Misha," Asia, who was pressed under him, asked anxiously: "Are you okay?"
Although Asia almost spoke in his ear, the sound Sokov heard was very light. If he didn't listen carefully, he could not hear what Asia was talking. He knew that his ears were a little badly shaken by the explosion just now. He said loudly: "It's okay, I'm fine! What about you, Asia, aren't injured?"
Asia was unpredictable and was crushed to the ground by Sokov. Because she fell too hard, her hands were scratched. But in order not to make Sokov worry about herself, she pretended to be a quarrel and said, "Misha, I'm fine. You're too heavy, don't press me, I can't breathe."
Sokov quickly moved to his body and lay side by side with Asia on the roadside. He listened to the screaming sound of shells passing through the air, and judged the position of the landing to decide whether to transfer.
Amid the explosions, Asia approached Sokov's ear and asked loudly: "Misha, where did the shells fly from?"
"The north is definitely the north." Sokov figured out the direction of the shells flying in the shortest time, "there is only that direction, which is still under the control of the Germans."
"Misa," Asia continued, "have you noticed that German shells were basically landing on the streets and rarely hit houses? Do you think there were German spies lurking in the city?"
Hearing Asia said this, Sokov couldn't help but look forward and saw that German artillery fire was extending and firing, and bursts of explosive smoke rose up on the other end of the street. But as Asia observed, most of the shells fell on the street and exploded, and few directly hit the buildings.
Is there really a German spy hiding in the city and providing shooting parameters for the German artillery outside the city? Sokov thought of this, and couldn't help but sit up and look at the surrounding buildings, trying to figure out where the German spy would be hiding. But when he turned around, he saw two tanks sitting on the back of the tank, and one tanker was bandaging the two with first aid kit. The tanker who had just found Asia for the mailing address was lying motionless on the ground, not knowing whether he was shocked or sacrificed.
Although Sokov was full of dissatisfaction with the tank soldiers hooking up with Asia. But at this moment, he saw that several tank soldiers were injured, so he quickly reached out and shook Asia. Seeing that the other party had reacted, he pointed at the tank with his hand and said to her: "Asia, there is a tank soldier who is injured. Go and help them quickly."
Asia leaned up and looked at the tank soldiers. She couldn't help but exclaim, and hurriedly got up from the ground and trotted over. She bent down to check the tank soldiers lying on the ground, touched his pulse with her hands, then shook her head at Sokov, indicating that he was no longer helpful. Then she stood up, bent down and ran to the tank, and helped the tank hand bandage the wounded.
Seeing that the enemy's shelling center had gradually turned to the direction of the command. He was worried that Cherneshov would have any danger, so he approached Asia's ear and said loudly to her: "Asia, I want to go to the division headquarters to see you, so you stay here to take care of the wounded. Do you understand?"
Sokov knew Asia's character very well and knew that if he said he wanted to go to the division headquarters, she would definitely go with him. In order not to let her take risks with him, he specifically told her to stay and take care of the wounded. When Sokov said this, Asia, who was busy treating the wounded, nodded indeed and said loudly: "Misha, you have to be more careful!"
Sokov followed the street and just ran to the street where the division headquarters was located, he was so angry that he could not open his eyes by the spicy and choking smoke floating along the street. He covered his nose and mouth with his sleeves and moved forward carefully.
"Hey, Comrade Captain, where are you going?" Sokov was walking forward when he suddenly heard someone calling him, turning his head to see, but he didn't see anyone. He thought he had heard wrong, and was about to walk forward again, he heard someone shouting in an impatient voice: "Hey, Comrade Captain, are your ears deaf or something? Didn't you hear me calling you?"
Sokov looked in the direction where the sound came for a while, and then he found a square hole on the ground outside a building next to him. An officer wearing a steel helmet was waving to him desperately. Sokov quickly bent over and ran over, jumping into the square hole.
After jumping in, Sokov discovered that it was a long traffic trench, but because it was covered with a thick layer of wooden boards and there was a lot of soil on it, so that Sokov had not waited to discover its existence in time. After seeing Sokov come in, the officer asked with displeasure: "Comrade Captain, what part of you are? Why are you running around when the enemy is bombarded? Are you not afraid of being killed by the enemy's shells?"
Sokov glanced at the other party's collar seal and found that it was a major. He quickly straightened his body and replied: "Comrade Major, I am the battalion commander of the Istria Battalion, and is about to go to the division headquarters to find Commander Cherneshov..."
"Who is looking for me?" Before Sokov finished speaking, a familiar voice sounded at the other end of the traffic trench: "Come here!"
Sokov agreed and bent down and walked forward. With the help of the light coming from the gap in the wooden board, he saw the ground of the traffic trench full of commanders and soldiers. When he passed by, everyone pulled their feet in front of him so that they would not trip him up.
Seeing Sokov coming to him, Cherneshov, who was sitting on the ground, raised his hand and pressed him down, saying, "Comrade Captain, what do you have to say, the space in the traffic trench is too short, you can't stand up straight." After seeing Sokov following his orders and sitting down in front of him, he continued, "Captain Sokov, are you doing anything to me?"
"Comrade Commander," Sokov quickly replied, "I sent the seized howitzers to the city on your order."
"Yes, right, I did order you to send all the seized howitzers to the city." Chernesov smiled and said, "But I didn't order you to come to the city!" He paused for a moment and continued, "I remembered that yesterday you sent a group of wounded people to the field hospital, and there was also a beautiful female health worker. If I was not wrong, you might have come to the city to see her while you were planning to send howitzers?"
Sokov didn't say anything, but just grinned, as if he had agreed to the matter. He paused for a moment, suddenly remembered the shelling attacks in the city, and asked Cherneshov tentatively: "Comrade Commander, I see that the German artillery fire is very evil. The targets of their shelling are on the streets, not buildings. After a period of shelling, their targets gradually turned to our command. I think there must be German spies in the city, who are constantly providing various design parameters for the German artillery outside the city."
