But after being so happy, MediaTek discovered some problems.

Dimensity 1000 overturned!

That’s right! As this year’s flagship processor chip of MediaTek, the Dimensity 1000 has completely overturned its power consumption and heat generation.

Currently, the only product in the entire mobile phone industry equipped with the Dimensity 1000 processor chip is the iqoo z1 product.

However, although this product is said to have decent performance, it often suffers from problems with heating and frequency reduction.

At the same time, there are also signs of overturning in terms of power consumption.

Compared with similar flagship processor chips, it is simply weak.

This also puts MediaTek under tremendous pressure.

In order to enable its own processor chips to truly compete with Joutong's Fire Dragon processor chips in the next generation, MediaTek specifically contacted Yuzhen Semiconductor to cooperate in designing chips.

Although Yuzhen Semiconductor has a low reputation in the entire global market, its overall strength cannot be underestimated.

Even MediaTek felt numb after seeing the Tianxuan 920 designed by Yuzhen Semiconductor.

The designed processor chip not only has strong performance, but also is comparable to low-power processor chips such as Kirin 990 in terms of power consumption.

High performance, low power consumption, simply ridiculously powerful.

What’s even more surprising is that the core architecture of this processor’s CPU is actually a modified core from the a76 core.

MediaTek also conducted corresponding tests on this core and found that the performance improvement of this core was very obvious. It was 5% better than the core performance of a77 at the same frequency.

Now Yuzhen Semiconductor has been subject to corresponding restrictions and cannot be OEMed to produce processor chips with the latest process technology. This also makes MediaTek, which is in a cooperative and competitive relationship, breathe a sigh of relief.

Because of this, when MediaTek encountered the current dilemma, it chose Yuzhen Semiconductor as its foreign aid.

And in this cooperation, MediaTek is not only willing to pay the relevant expenses, but also willing to give 10% of the profits to Yuzhen Semiconductor like the g98h chip, and also allows companies related to Yuzhen Semiconductor to have the first batch of purchase rights.

Zhou Zhen was happy to accept this cooperation.

After all, now that Yuzhen Semiconductor has completed the design of Tianxuan and Nandou chips, some people have become vacant.

Zhou Zhen has raised a group of employees in the company, so naturally he does not want employees to "eat free rice" in the company.

Now, cooperating with MediaTek can not only make money, but also give company employees something to do, which is also a good thing for the restricted Yuzhen Semiconductor.

After all, as the foundry of Tianxuan processor chips is about to stop production, within the next two years, Yuzhen Semiconductor will no longer be exposed to the design of Tianxuan chips.

Helping MediaTek design chips not only makes money, but also allows MediaTek to suppress Jiaotong.

And if Yu Zhen Semiconductor is involved in MediaTek's processor chip this time, then Zhou Zhen will be able to obtain corresponding profit value every time the designed processor chip is sold.

At the same time, with these designed chips, Zhou Zhen can completely bridge the gap for New Honor to use these chips, so that New Honor can better recover in the next year of independence.

As the second-generation flagship processor chip of MediaTek, the overall design is very similar to the Dimensity 1000, and the performance of power consumption and heat generation is also very obvious.

"So I think in terms of architecture, it is better to change the 134-bit architecture to a 44-bit architecture and eliminate the large core to prevent power consumption from overturning under extreme performance!"

"On the other hand, we can change the process technology of the processor to 5 nanometers, so that we can add 16 h9 cores inside the GPU graphics processor, thereby reducing the frequency to ensure that the performance and power consumption of the GPU are at the same level!"



Following Zhou Zhen's explanation, the MediaTek R&D team finally understood what Zhou Zhen meant.

The main upgrade of the flagship processor chip design this time is to upgrade the manufacturing process to reduce the corresponding power consumption.

At the same time, we will work hard on the highest frequencies of CPU and GPU to reduce the occurrence of extremely high frequencies to ensure power consumption.

Obviously Zhou Zhen did not absolutely significantly improve the performance of MediaTek this time, but planned to stabilize the power consumption of Dimensity chips and improve the user experience based on MediaTek chips.

And the running scores of the two flagship processor chips, Dimensity 1000 and 1200, are indeed very good, but the actual experience is indeed somewhat unsatisfactory.

Dimensity 1000 is a processor chip that surpasses Fire Dragon 855 and Kirin 990 in benchmark scores, but overall due to power consumption, the actual experience is not as good as these two chips.

The same is true for the Dimensity 1200 in history. The running score is close to the Fire Dragon 870, but the actual experience performance is completely inferior to the Fire Dragon 870 and Fire Dragon 865.

The label of high score and low performance was not abandoned by MediaTek until the Dimensity 8100 chip appeared.

In fact, MediaTek has several chips with good performance and power consumption, and all of these chips use the 44-bit core architecture.

Let’s talk about the Dimensity 820, which has a good reputation in the mid-range market this year, and the Dimensity 8000 series two years later.

"That makes sense!"

After hearing what Zhou Zhen said, MediaTek's R&D team also felt that what he said made sense.

After all, the CPU architecture stacking that MediaTek is good at is obviously the core architecture of 44.

So with the assistance of Yuzhen Semiconductor, the R&D team began to redesign the CPU architecture.

Four a78 cores at 2.75ghz and four a55 cores at 2.0ghz.

From the original one 3.0ghz extreme performance a78 core and three 2.6ghz a78 cores, it suddenly became four ordinary performance cores.

"I don't know if the design performance of the new chip can maintain a similar level to the original version..."

After the redesign, the loss of a large-core processor chip also worried some MediaTek design teams.

After all, the 134 triple stack architecture is the current flagship framework for mobile phone SOC processor chip design.

Losing a big core is likely to significantly reduce performance.
