Chapter 100: One Month
After some talk, Meng Zhong learned about the purpose of Feng Guanzi, that is, he hoped to discuss academic research with him, the disciple of Zhuangzi.
The academic mentioned here is of course not the strategies for governing the country that Zhufu said to Zhao Zhufu, but Taoist thoughts.
The first thing the two of them talked about was Lao Tzu's concept of "Tao Qi".
The ancients had long been involved in "qi", but what is "qi"? People in the world may not be able to answer it.
Lao Tzu defined "qi" as "virility", that is, vitality. Only when there is vitality, the human body will not decay and the plants will not wither.
The circulation of "qi" in the human body is strong and weak. This cycle of reciprocating, strengthening or weakening is the "Tao" of the human body.
On the basis of Lao Tzu's "Tao Qi", Wu Guanzi proposed the "Zuan Qi theory", "Yuan" means the beginning, and the initial meaning means (Yuan) Qi is the root of everything.
If Lao Tzu's "Tao Qi" refers to the existence of qi in all things (inside), then the "yuanqi" theory proposed by Wu Guanzi inherits and expands Lao Tzu's "Tao Qi theory", and uses the movement and changes of vital energy to interpret the generation, development, change, and extinction of all things.
I have to say that this is very similar to the "prime theory" studied by Meng Zhong's teacher Zhuangzi, and it can almost be said that it only has different titles.
Therefore, Meng Zhong told Zhuangzi about Zhuang Guanzi's "prime theory" and also received the latter's recognition.
Then Wu Guanzi smiled and said, "Zhuangzi must have read the "Shunqi" written by Song Yan and Yin Wen."
"Xinqi said?" Meng Zhong was a little confused about this.
Seeing this, Wu Guanzi explained "Theory of Heart Qi".
Song Yan and Yin Wen believed that the human heart is the most important part of the human body, so there must be a special kind of energy in it that allows people to walk and think. [PS: The ancients initially believed that the heart was the organ of "thinking", so they left the words "mind" and "mind" behind.]
Regarding this special qi, Song Yan and Yin Wen called it "Qi (qì)", which is taken from the sentence "Five treasures produce five qi" recorded in "Laozi", which means that there are five different special qi among the five internal organs.
The "heart qi" mentioned by Song Yan and Yin Wen refers to the special kind of qi hidden in the heart. They believed that "heart qi" is the key to making people live and make people think, so they worked together to write "Theory of Heart qi".
It was based on Lao Tzu's "Tao Qi" and the "heart Qi" mentioned by Song Yan and Yin Wen, that Wu Guanzi proposed the illusion of "virgin Qi".
Before Song Yan and Yin Wen, "Guan Yinzi" had already put forward the idea of "one Qi transforming all things". Since then, Taoist disciples such as "Guan Zi (Guan Zhong), "Liezi (Lieko), "Song Rongzi (Song Yan), "Yin Zi (Yin Wen)" and other Taoist disciples gradually improved the hypothesis of "qi". It was not until Taoist disciples such as Zhuangzi and Guanzi further improved the hypothesis of "qi", and finally formed the idea of "qi induced all things" and "circulated between heaven and earth".
Although Meng Zhong was a little unwilling, he had to admit that Feng Guanzi's "prime energy theory" is more perfect than his teacher Zhuangzi's "prime energy theory", and has proposed the "circulation" such as "one-qi-intention-image-image-image-image-image-name-form-event-count-time-object". [PS: that is, the generation mode of the universe.]
Afterwards, Meng Zhong and Feng Guanzi talked about "astronomy" again.
The so-called astronomy refers to the knowledge of celestial bodies. Before, when Meng Zhong was studying with Zhuangzi, he also observed the celestial phenomena at night.
Taoism's view of celestial phenomena at night is of course not the kind that accounts for good and bad fortune, but rather explores the laws of celestial bodies and summarizes the impact of celestial bodies on the world.
It is worth mentioning that during this period, Feng Guanzi also talked about his ability to use the direction of the handle to judge the four seasons, which surprised Meng Zhong. [PS: The author did not understand this passage, so he would not mess with popular science. Interested book friends can check it out by themselves.]
I have to say that although Meng Zhong is also a Taoist disciple, he was really ashamed in front of Zhu Guanzi.
Perhaps because he noticed Meng Zhong's mood, Wu Guanzi asked curiously: "You are a disciple of Zhuangzi. Hasn't Zhuangzi ever taught these?"
Meng Zhong replied honestly: "I have been studying with Master Zhuang for four years and have only learned some basics."
"Then why did you want to become an official in Zhao State?" asked Wu Guanzi in confusion.
Meng Zhong hesitated for a moment, but finally no explanation.
Because he felt that it would be too arrogant if he said in front of Wu Guanzi that "for the sake of the Zhao and Song dynasties to stabilize diplomatic relations."
Seeing Meng Zhong silent, Feng Guanzi guessed that there must be some reason for this, so he stroked his beard and said regretfully: "What a pity. In my opinion, my friend shouldn't have left a great sage like Zhuangzi..."
His words surprised Meng Zhong very much.
You should know that in Meng Zhong's view, the thoughts of the 杨 Guanzi in front of him are simply difficult to distinguish from those of Zhuangzi, but for some reason, the 杨 Guanzi respects Zhuangzi very much.
So Meng Zhong asked curiously: "Yu Guanzi, you are about Master Zhuang..."
As if he had guessed Meng Zhong's thoughts, Feng Guanzi stroked his beard and smiled: "I have read several books written by Zhuangzi. Zhuangzi's words "The World of Dao Dao is Debt" have won my heart."
As he said that, Wu Guanzi began to criticize the world. When he was excited, he frowned, stared, and slapped the table, which was completely different from the "eminent image" that had just told Meng Zhong about the idea of "Zhen Qi theory".
Meng Zhong immediately understood: This shui Guanzi is the same type of person as Zhuangzi, who is the same angry person as the world.
However, Zhuangzi's anger and abandonment of the world has reached its extreme. He is almost completely disappointed with the world. As for the world, Zhu Guanzi still has a little hope for the world. Therefore, he brought his disciple Pang Qing to Zhao State, hoping to realize his ambitions in Zhao State.
In the original words of the 未分类, it is the world of "the world is established without evil, the world is established, the customs are established, the common people are achieved, the longest will be together, the same friends are together, the same sacrifices are the same blessings, the same life and death are the same love, the same misfortune and disasters are the same, the same joys are the same, the same harmony is the same, the same congratulations are the same, the same cry is the same, the same joy is enough to help each other, the same strange spies are enough to stop each other", that is, the world is the world where there is no intrigue between people, the same breath, the same destiny, and the same help and love each other.
As for why Wu Guanzi chose Zhao to realize his ambitions, it was because Wu Guanzi believed that the Qin system was too harsh. As for Qi, since the birth of Jixia Academy, various ideas gathered in Qi, which was too chaotic and repeated. Only Zhao, under the rule of Zhao's father, was rising slowly. After Qin, Qi may become the third leg in the world and have the potential to support the world.
On that day, Meng Zhong and Feng Guanzi chatted for a long time, and they were chatting until late at night. Meng Zhong still felt a little unfulfilled.
After three consecutive days, Wu Guanzi returned to Handan.
It has to be said that this great Taoist wise man from Chu gave Meng Zhong a deeper understanding of Taoist thoughts.
But there was no way, and at this time, the training of Xinwei was in some trouble.
This trouble is actually that the five hundred soldiers were tired of carrying logs and running outside the camp day after day, so that the morale of the army was a little fluctuating.
It is no wonder that although the physical training is indeed so boring, the five hundred soldiers cannot accept this explanation.
In the original words of those soldiers, it is too stupid to run outside the camp like this recently. Will the enemy be afraid because they run fast?
Fortunately, the food in the military camp was pretty good and there was meat every meal, otherwise the five hundred soldiers would have been in chaos long ago.
In view of the complaints of the soldiers, Meng Zhong summoned Le Yi and Meng Sui to the commander's tent and discussed the training methods with them.
But no matter how you discuss it, it is necessary to strengthen physical training. After all, Xinwei’s goal is to follow the example of Wei Wushu in Wei State. Wei Wushu is a terrifying heavy-armored infantry carrying dozens or hundreds of kilograms of weight but can still marche into a hundred miles within half a day!
Without enough physical fitness, the weight on your body alone is enough to drag down the soldiers.
How to make these soldiers train their physical fitness properly becomes a test for the five soldiers left by Meng Zhong to Wu Ying, Meng Hu, Hua Hu, Mu Wu and Le Jin.
As for Meng Zhong himself, he had a solution: as long as he invited Zhao Zhufu to take a chariot to the military camp, comfort and encourage, keep the soldiers and complain immediately, and train harder than anyone else in the training.
But Meng Zhong did not intend to use this method immediately. He hoped that Wu Ying, Meng Hu and others could solve the problem by themselves.
Not to mention that under Meng Zhong's "leniency", Wu Ying, Meng Hu, Hua Hu, Mu Wu, Le Jin and others really came up with a solution, that is, to train with the soldiers under his command.
Seeing with his own eyes that these teenage pawns could grit their teeth and complete the harsh training assigned by Le Yi, the soldiers were naturally embarrassed to complain again.
“That’s not enough.”
Le Yi privately made a suggestion to Meng Zhong.
This suggestion is very simple, that is, Le Yi will act as a villain and let Wu Ying, Meng Hu and others integrate into the soldiers as soon as possible.
So, there was a scenic spot outside the camp soon: Sima Leyi, the assistant army, stood next to the soldiers who were running with heavy loads, and used vicious and humiliating words to inspire the soldiers.
For example, "waste", "coward", "incompetent" and so on, the soldiers were so angry that they wanted to kill Le Yi by random swords. They were afraid that Le Yi was the Sima of the army appointed by Meng Zhong, and Meng Zhong was a person valued by Zhao Zhufu, so they did not dare to act rashly and only dared to curse Le Yi behind their backs.
Wu Ying, Meng Hu and others joined the soldiers' team to "declare" Le Yi because they "share the joys and sorrows" with their soldiers, which made the support of these people gradually increase among the soldiers.
After about half a month of hard training, the physical fitness of these soldiers improved unknowingly. As a result, Le Yi, who was hated by all the soldiers, raised his requirements again, requiring all soldiers to carry logs and run around the camp while wearing triple armor.
At first, the soldiers were a little uncomfortable, and even became tired from the ground again. However, under the stimulation of Le Yi's words, the soldiers scolded Le Yi while wearing triple armor and insisted on carrying logs to continue training, just to make Le Yi "appreciate" them, and let Le Yi personally admit that he had taken a look away.
Before they knew it, these soldiers were able to carry logs and walk vigorously while wearing triple armor.
The price is that Le Yi was scolded by these soldiers to the point where he had no words available.
In this case, Meng Zhong believed that Zhao Zhufu should be invited to inspect and give these soldiers some positive incentives.
