Chapter 32 The Killer

After dinner, Charlize found an opportunity to come to Lit and said he wanted to talk to him alone.

Litt asked the Wachowski brothers and Kate to take John's car and took Charlize into another car.

Two cars drove out of the parking lot one after another. Li Te held the steering wheel in his hand and stared at the road ahead and asked, "Why, don't you want to act in that movie?"

"Can there be other choice?" Charlize hesitated for a moment, and finally decided to express his thoughts. "I really don't like comedy movies very much, I always feel..."

"The characters are all stupid and will not help improve their acting skills?" Litt finished the following words for Charlize.

Charlize could only smile bitterly at this.

"Yes."

Li Te gently patted the steering wheel, "Do you want to hear my opinion?"

"certainly."

"The current situation of AMG is not as good as you think, especially after John brought him to work, other brokerage companies have begun to join forces to target us."

Lit briefly talked about the current situation to Charlize, who was a little bit self-blame about it.

"Sorry, if it wasn't for me..."

"This has nothing to do with you. The existence of AMG has made many people feel uneasy. Even without you and John, they will find other excuses to attack. Mr. Orwitz and I had already anticipated this problem before the company was established. Of course, we also thought of a solution, so you see that Mr. Orwitz has been attracting other people's attention in front, and I am doing some more practical work behind the scenes, such as finding ways to make you famous quickly."

Charlize finally understood what Little meant.

"Do you think that comedy can make me famous very quickly?"

"It's not that she's famous very quickly, but that she's overnight!" Litt corrected Charlize's statement, "For specific examples, you can refer to Cameron Diaz. If she didn't get the chance to star in "The Disguised Ghost", she might be just an unknown model now."

Charlize quickly made a trade-off.

"Okay, I'll rent some Ferrari Brothers movie videos tomorrow, hoping that the audition will be smoother."

"Audio?" Lite shook his head and laughed, "Don't worry, this character must be yours."

"Why?"

"Because I have something on my hands that the Ferrari brothers cannot refuse, and they have no choice but to promise my request."

——

Litt finally didn't tell Charlize what he was in his hands, but a bad news came from John soon.

After learning about John's identity and purpose, the Ferrari brothers told him directly that the candidate for the heroine of the movie they had had had already been decided, and they did not intend to become AMG's customers.

Li Te held the microphone and frowned slightly.

"Where is that Bian Stiller?"

"There are good and bad." John's voice seemed a little tired on the phone. "I met him directly and talked for about an hour. In the end, he promised to seriously consider the suggestion of becoming our client. This is good news. The bad news is that I learned from some other channels that there were seven or eight brokerage companies that came to Stiller, including your former employer CAA and my former employer ICM. I think Stiller is still waiting and watching because other brokerage companies have not given him satisfactory treatment. In fact, he does not really intend to become our client, at least I don't feel his sincerity in cooperation."

Such a result was expected, so Lite was not particularly disappointed.

"Okay, thank you for your hard work these two days, I'll deal with the rest."

Just after hanging up the phone, Andy, who returned from shopping, walked over with a few newspapers and a letter.

"Li Te, here is a letter for you!"

Larry, who was sitting in front of the sofa watching TV, turned his head, "I remember you asked me for the envelope the day before yesterday, why did you reply so soon?"

He was hesitating about when the post office's efficiency became so high, then Larry's eyes fell on the letter.

Larry immediately concluded, "Isn't this the envelope I gave you? I got it, you must have filled in the wrong address so someone returned the letter."

Lit picked up the envelope and shook it in front of Larry's eyes, "Have you ever seen a postmarked envelope that was returned?"

Larry grabbed the envelope and saw that it was indeed covered with a prominent postmark, and the date of delivery was displayed the day before yesterday.

Soon, Larry made new discoveries on the envelope.

"My God, you actually sent yourself a letter. You didn't write the address of receiving and sending the address of sending yourself?"

"No, I'm not wrong, this letter was written to myself."

"Are you crazy?"

Larry threw the letter back to Lit, which was difficult to understand.

Andy stared at the letter in Li Te's hand with a eager expression, "I'm curious about what is written here. Can I take it apart now?"

Li Te hurriedly protected the letter and shook his head and said no.

This action became increasingly curious about the content of the letter. After the two of them questioned each other, Li Te gave the answer.

"Recently, a story suddenly popped up in my mind, and I wrote it down. Of course, I am not a screenwriter, so I only wrote a very extensive story outline with no specific content."

Li Te wanted to write the whole story, but he only watched that movie once in his memory, and it was not easy to be able to remember a rough plot.

During the writing of the script of "The Matrix", the Wachowski brothers only provided ideas to Lite and were not responsible for the specific plot construction. They had long experienced the practice of lying, so they would not suspect that he was lying. However, the two still didn't understand what purpose Lite wanted to put the outline of this story in an envelope and sent it to him.

"Because I want to prove that the copyright of this story is mine!"

Li Te's words made the Wachowski brothers stunned. After thinking it through, the two of them looked at Li Te's eyes strange.

"Why don't you register with this story at the screenwriter's union? It's both convenient and reliable."

Lite looked at the Wachowski brothers seriously, "First of all, I am an agent, not a screenwriter, and I cannot become a screenwriter; secondly, it will cost money to register a script at the screenwriter union!"

In the United States, there are usually three ways to authenticate copyright. The first is to apply for it at the copyright office, but this requires a long wait and a series of cumbersome procedures. Generally, copyright certification is not chosen. Everyone prefers the second method, that is, to register at the screenwriter's union, and usually pay a handling fee of more than ten dollars. Of course, if you are unwilling to spend this little money, you can send a letter to yourself like Li Te, but you cannot open it, because the date on the postmark can also become an important basis for the court to determine the ownership of copyright.

This letter is Lite's killer weapon to convince the Ferrari brothers.
