Prologue: The Curious Incident of Kunlun (1)
Heavy snow is flying, and the ice is frozen thousands of miles away.
That year was the second year of Tongzhi. The Kunlun Mountains at the turn of spring and summer were vast and unrestrained, as if they were abandoned by heaven.
Five young and middle-aged men in ragged clothes trekked on the steep mountain road, leaving behind a string of lonely footprints, gradually covered by heavy snow from far to near.
Their outfits are very different from those of the local residents. They carry bags on their backs and have a two-foot-long Pu Knife around their waists. It is obvious that they are not here to pick yam or snow lotus.
Due to the extremely low temperature, everyone wrapped their clothes tightly, but they seemed futile under the storm of snow and wind. Except for the leading man who was still tall and showed a young and heroic look on his face. The four people behind were already exhausted and shrank their bodies tightly to resist the severe cold.
They had been traveling for more than half a month on the night and the road from Sichuan to Kunlun Mountain was harder than climbing to the sky, leaving the five people who had already reached their limit speechless. Finally, at a corner, the leader who had been quiet for too long spoke: "Hey, hey, look, there is a cave on the hillside, let's take a rest for now."
The four of them looked in the direction of the leading man's finger and saw a cave not far away, which was enough to accommodate a group of people. No one expressed any objection to this. Their faces were full of energy. While cheering, they rushed into the cave one after another, sitting on the cold and wet ground.
After making a fire to keep warm, replenishing some food and water, the five people's vitality has recovered a lot. One of them wiped their mouths and cursed: "Grandma, I can finally have a good sleep! Now, as long as I don't let me sleep on the snow, there is a small paradise everywhere!"
Although the leader was exhausted, he was not moved by this proposal at all and said sternly: "No, don't sleep here! We should rest for an hour at most and must continue on the road. Zheng Yingxiong, I have said many times that we are not here to travel around, but we have important tasks and cannot be delayed for a moment!"
The man named Zheng Yingxiong looked unhappy, but he was not able to directly refute, so he turned to everyone to help: "Lin Guangquan, Big Tiger and Little Tiger, what about the opinions of you three?"
The man named Lin Guangquan also looked embarrassed, but he was not easy to offend the leading man. He asked carefully: "King Sha, we twelve brothers followed you all the way from Sichuan to this place, do you have any complaints?"
The man named Sha Wang shook his head: "No."
Lin Guangquan said again: "Along the way, the soldiers died in battle and were exhausted, and they had never regretted it. But you have never told us the reason for rushing to Kunlun Mountain to this day, and the brothers are inevitably feeling a little emotional. Since we have arrived at the destination, there are only five brothers left. Tell us the truth, what are we doing in Kunlun Mountain?"
Dahu also begged: "Yes, Sha Wang, tell me a few. I understand the truth. Even if the end is still far away, I hope the plums can quench their thirst."
The King of Sha said expressionlessly: "Don't worry, when we find the treasure we should find, brothers will know."
"Hmph!" Zheng Yingxiong stood up "lively" and shouted, "I see, there is no treasure at all! Feng Yuliang, you are just running for your life and asking us to escort you all the way to the safe area. You love to play, play with him, I have had enough, so let's go now."
Feng Yuliang glanced at Zheng Yingxiong with a sharp look, touched the hilt of the knife around his waist with his right hand, and said sternly: "According to our military discipline, what punishment should the deserter be punished?"
Zheng Yingxiong cursed disdainfully: "Do you still have a military army? The King of Yi regards you as a guest of honor and asks me to discuss matters with you. It is just a temporary measure in a hurry, and he really takes himself seriously. In terms of qualifications, you are just a boy scout. In terms of martial arts, you are even worse than me! Responding to military discipline, I want to fight, I will accompany you!"
Seeing the two of them being nervous, Lin Guangquan stood up and advised, "Sha King, Bu Tian Hou, please calm down! Don't forget that our common enemy is the Qing demon. Now King Yi is being held in Chengdu and will be punished by Ling Chi soon. The most urgent task is to unite and rescue King Yi. You must not let your relatives suffer the enemy and your enemies be happy!"
Xiaohu rushed over and knelt in front of Feng Yuliang, begging: "King Sha, my brothers Dahu and I followed King Yi to die at the age of fourteen. My loyalty to him is exactly the same as yours. My mother died of illness two months ago, and neither of us could send the old man the last journey. But... but we have no regrets, it is hateful that the Qing demon bullies the people and the people in the world are living in poverty. In order to exert this bird's anger, we are not afraid of death or killing the nine clans, but now we are frozen to death in an unknown way, starving to death in this mountain where birds do not shit, we..."
Seeing everyone's hard and soft force, Feng Yuliang sighed deeply and said solemnly: "I won't tell the truth of my brothers, because even if I tell you, everyone will not believe it. Instead of being disloyal to be loyal, it is better to do great things before you talk about it. Now that things have come to this, you all sit down and listen to me, and you will make your own contributions to your beliefs or not."
Everyone sat down safely, but Zheng Yingxiong was still standing. Feng Yuliang had no intention of making many verbal disputes and said, "That day, after the negotiations between King Yi and Luo Bingzhang, he decided to sacrifice his life to protect the soldiers of the three armies. Before leaving, he was worried that Qing Yao was untrustworthy and massacred our brothers, and even more worried that our heavenly kingdom would never recover from now on, so he gave me a secret letter..."
Feng Yuliang paused for a moment, as if waiting for everyone to ask what the letter was. Unexpectedly, everyone stared at him with concentration. No one asked, so he continued: "The letter is a map, which records that somewhere in Kunlun Mountain, an important treasure is buried. This treasure has infinite magic power and is enough to match thousands of troops, but the method of using it is really unbelievable."
Lin Guangquan was fascinated by the hearing and asked, "What treasure? Please tell the King of Sha to the truth."
Feng Yuliang said: "King Yi told me that this treasure can attract monsters. As long as it is used reasonably, it can make powerful monsters use them for me. How can the mortal body of the demon be a match for the monster?"
"Hahahaha!" Zheng Yingxiong laughed, "It's indeed a trick to deceive a three-year-old child! Monsters? No monsters in this world? Oh, yes, those Qing Tartars, didn't we say that our Taiping Army is a monster? In my opinion, the Qing Tartars disrupted our Central Plains, and they are the real-price Qing monsters!"
Feng Yuliang grunted and said, "As I expected, if we had told you the reason, we would not have been able to get here at all."
Zheng Yingxiong asked again: "What about the treasure map? Take it out and take a look."
Feng Yuliang hesitated for a moment, reached out and took out a map made of leopard skin from his bag and sent it to the four of them to watch. He saw that someone on the map not only drew a red circle somewhere in the mountains, but also had eight words: "Facing the mountains and backing the water, the treasure is hidden in it."
