187. The beginning of the reform
Why bother with the last sentence? In fact, it is more about Zhang Zhixiang.
Jiajing knew from Zhang Zhixiang that the future history was a feudal-capital-society, but Jiajing was not a person who grew up in that cultural environment. As the emperor, he had his own opinions about the world.
He naturally maintains doubts about all systems.
He has done a lot in the past ten years and thought a lot, and finally came up with an answer, but he didn't know whether Zhang Zhixiang would accept this answer, because Jiajing himself was not sure that he could reach that "golden age".
Although that era was short, it did burst into the most shining glory in human history.
That is the real world for the public.
It is countless times more specific than the three generations of rule that Confucianism has always described. Even as an emperor, Jiajing would have extremely recognized that era. If the imperial system could be ended in exchange for the arrival of that era, Jiajing would have no complaints.
Objectively speaking, nothing can stop the torrent.
but.
Jiajing believed that things were not that simple, times were different, and historical development was not the only one. If you just copied them blindly and didn’t learn to adapt to local conditions, you would not be able to do anything.
Moreover, that era was so short.
Just like a meteor passing by in the night sky, you have witnessed its magnificence, but you can never find any trace of it again.
Zhang Zhixiang must have discovered this, so he didn't copy it, and he was looking for it too.
Find the way Daming should take.
"Anping, you will approve of me, right?"
Jiajing asked silently, finally ended this experience of people's livelihood and started to do things.
He summoned the people who were willing to listen to him.
Tell them: "I want to go to Nanjing to follow the old stories of Hongwu, establish my life for the people of the world, and reorganize the Ming Dynasty."
"From now on, cancel the lowly family."
"Scholars, farmers, industry and commerce, all people in the world are the same family!"
"Since I worship my ancestors and return to Beijing, the Ministry of Revenue will re-count the population and update the household posts, so there will be no delays."
"Xia Yan, draw an order!"
Because Jiajing asked all the officials to watch from the side, they all heard what Jiajing said, and it was a big blow for a moment, and many officials murmured that the Emperor Ming Dynasty's system could not be changed.
How many people are saying that this matter is very important and should be decided after the court discussion.
However, Jiajing ignored them and shouted again: "Xia Yan!"
Xia Yan took a deep breath and bowed to the liquor and asked, "Your Majesty, if the households change their households, where will these households go? How should the salt in Lianghuai be produced? How should the livelihood of the households be guaranteed? If the land is to be distributed to them, where will the field come from and how can they be divided?"
"Jiangfangsi is in charge of the world's music, so what should these women do?"
"Are brothels completely banned?"
"Will the military households still have to farm in the future? Will the land in the garrison be distributed to the military households?"
"The hasty order is inevitable, and the country is in turmoil. I hope Your Majesty will think twice and take it back."
What Xia Yan saw was not only a cheap family, but Jiajing said that "scholars, peasants, industry and commerce are the same family." Doesn't this mean that the preferential treatment of gentry must be cancelled? The literati and officials can no longer be exempted from duty and labor service?
How can this work?
Xia Yan directly retorted, saying that this matter could not be done. However, Jiajing ignored these difficulties at all, but said: "This is a question that the cabinet needs to consider, but you come to ask me?"
"Is it because the cabinet is unable to handle these?"
"If you don't have the ability to do it, then don't be a minister. Abdicate as soon as possible to give way to the wise."
"Yan Song, can you do it well?"
Yan Song also took a deep breath, then took a firm step and replied loudly: "Your Majesty, I can do it!"
So, Jiajing looked directly at Xia Yan with cold eyes. If Xia Yan dared to say the word "no", it would be not as simple as dismissal from office. Jiajing had already become murderous...
Xia Yan's eyes changed slightly, and he noticed Jiajing's murderous intent.
However, he did not retreat or answer, but just bowed silently. As soon as he bowed to the end, with him taking the lead, almost all the ministers behind him bowed silently, expressing protest.
This situation is just like the petition outside Zuoshun Gate thirteen years ago.
"The rolling Yangtze River flows eastward, and the waves wash away all the heroes."
Jiajing confronted them for a while, and suddenly started to recite poems. It was Yang Shen's song "Linjiangxian". Yang Shen was the leader back then. After two court battles, he almost was not beaten to death...
"It's a failure to succeed or fail..."
"The green mountains are still there, and the sunset is red for several times."
Jiajing only read half of the lyrics. After reading them, he suddenly turned around, looked around the people at the scene, and asked, "Do you want to change your citizenship?!"
"change!!"
Almost roared, tens of thousands of people present roared in unison, and most of the officials were shocked by the roar, their bodies suddenly shook, while a few officials looked indifferent and their eyes became colder.
"Xia Yan, I will give you a last chance to draft an order, or not?"
While speaking, Jiajing's right hand was already raised. Seeing this, Lu Bing, the commander of the Jinyiwei, took out a hand gun from the back and pressed it directly on Xia Yan's head...
As long as Xia Yan dared to refuse, he would shoot.
"My memory... obey the order!"
Xia Yan almost gritted his teeth and agreed. Jiajing directly asked someone to bring an imperial edict and a pen. Xia Yan drafted an edict on the spot, Jiajing stamped it on the spot, and the imperial edict was issued to China and abroad...
"Your Majesty, Huai'an has been delayed for so long. Since you are going to worship Xiaoling, should you continue to go south?"
Xia Yan asked this question when he handed over the imperial edict.
Jiajing held the imperial edict and replied, "Yes, it's time to continue going south. I heard that Yangzhou is prosperous and there are few in the world."
"Yes, Your Majesty should go and have a good look."
Both of them were clearly smiling, but sparks could pop up in their eyes...
...
Karma Quelli Gyatso, a Tantric master translated as Fahai in Chinese, arrived in Yangzhou when Jiajing was still farming.
Just like when Bodhidharma came to China, he once crossed the river with a reed.
Master Fahai traveled east from the Snow Mountains in the Western Regions, and came by auspicious clouds. The day he arrived in Yangzhou City, the whole city was sensation.
Countless people think that the Buddha came to the world.
He worshiped the master with a black background and gold-bordered Dharma hat, and the master also gave him a lecture on Buddhism and attracted countless believers.
Unlike the exoteric schools of Buddhism, such as Zen, it is about doing good deeds and accumulating virtues and achieving the right result in the next life.
Tantra emphasizes becoming a Buddha in this world.
In addition to talking about the "Mahasai Sutra" and the "Diamond Sutra", Fahai also talks about dual cultivation. Although their Kagyu sect is more restrained and observant than the Nyingma sect and Saga sect, it is only relatively speaking.
When speaking Buddhist scriptures, people seem to understand but don’t understand them, and they all join in the fun.
But when it comes to dual cultivation, everyone will be no longer sleepy.
So there was a scene of crowds in Yangzhou. Zhang Zhixiang naturally knew that Master Fahai had even watched the fun from afar, and he didn't understand why both Tantric Buddhism and Lu Xixing advocated dual cultivation.
Of course, Zhang Zhixiang is too lazy to care about how others practice, as long as they don’t harm innocent people.
The point is.
Why did this Fahai come to Yangzhou at this time?
