Preface

About the fifth century, the Polynesians moved here from the South Pacific. In 1795, most of the islands were conquered by Kamehameha I and the Kingdom of Hawaii was established in 1810.

In 1842, the United States first recognized the Kingdom of Hawaii, and this diplomatic recognition was mainly for Japan. If Japan forcibly annexed Hawaii, the United States would intervene on the grounds of anti-aggression. Japan then recognized Hawaii's sovereignty and also had the same idea as the United States.

In 1893, a group of politicians and businessmen launched a coup with the help of Americans. Under the threat of the American army, the queen of the Kingdom of Hawaii was forced to abdicate.

The Republic was established in 1894. In 1898, the United States annexed Hawaii with the might of the Spanish-American War, and became a state of the United States in 1959. The Pacific Shanghai air transportation area is very important, with 8 major islands and more than 120 small islands, which span the Tropic of Cancer from southeast to northwest, extending more than 2,400 kilometers, that is, from Hawaii Island at the southeast to Kurei Island at the northwest (excluding Midway Island). The main 8 islands are on the south side of the Tropic of Cancer, which is equivalent to the narrow Hawaiian Islands, namely Hawaii Island.

Yi Island, Maui, Kahurave Island, Lanai Island, Molokai Island, Oahu Island, Kauai Island, and Niho Island. Each island is a volcanic island formed by erupting from huge cracks at the bottom of the ocean. The Maunaloa Volcano (4,170 meters above sea level) and Kilauea Volcano (1,247 meters above sea level) on Hawaii Island are active volcanoes, often overflowing lava flows from the top fire outlets and mountainside fissures. The northeast trade winds prevail all year round. The northeast slopes facing the wind are rich in precipitation and are mostly tropical rainforests; the southwest slopes on the leeward are dry and less rainy, and there are more tropical savanna.

In 1860, the production of pineapple accounts for 90% of the world after 1860, and still accounts for three-quarters of the world since 1950. In 1885, sugarcane processing accounts for one-third of the world in exports. Later, due to the large number of beet processing plants in various countries, it gradually declined, but until the late World War II, it accounted for 25% of the world's sugarcane exports. These two became the main source of income for Hawaii. At the same time, Hawaii is a military important place, with large naval and air force bases such as Pearl Harbor.

The Iolani Palace in Hawaii is the only royal palace in the entire United States. The gorgeous palace was built in 1882. King Kalakaua and Queen Liliuokalani, the last two kings of the Hawaiian dynasty, once lived here. After taking power, Queen Liliuokalani was dissatisfied with the influence of foreign national forces on their own Hawaiian nation, and had already taken root in the local area.

Zhang Bing's white preachers who developed the capitalist economy (mostly became planters at this time) had a conflict of interest. In 1893, American missionary John B. Stevens ordered naval soldiers on the Boston, who visited the United States, at that time, to surround the Hawaiian royal family. The missionary's bold move even US President Grovclevran felt that it was illegal, but the US Congress did not take it seriously.

At the Iorani Palace, under the coercion of machine guns from American merchants and American soldiers, Queen Liliuokarani helplessly announced her abdication.

In 1895, supporters of the Hawaiian dynasty held a coup. After the failure, Queen Liliuokarani was charged with subverting the government and was fined $5,000 and sent to labor for five years. Although she was not eventually sentenced to labor, she was under house arrest in the Iolani Palace.

Since 1830, the British and Americans brought missionaries, and the French used cannons to bring "democracy" in 1850. The King of Hawaii was forced to decentralize power to the people and established a parliament. This was a means by the Western powers to control colonial countries. Around 1864, the Civil War broke out in the United States, and the South imposed an embargo on the North. The North could not get the source of sugar, and the United States was a country that loved coffee. There was no way to force the King of Hawaii to allow the land to be sold to foreigners (mainly whites). A large number of white people moved to Hawaii to grow sugarcane. These immigrants also recruited a large number of workers from Japan in Asia and Guangdong in China to farm.

At the same time, due to the large-scale Flat Heavenly Kingdom movement in China, wars in the south were endless, pirates along the coast were rampant, and people were living in dire straits, a large number of Chinese workers were recruited, and there were also Chinese who spontaneously went to the United States, Hawaii, and South America to start businesses.

With the influx of a large number of Chinese workers into the United States, it gradually aroused the disgust of Americans. In 1882, the United States Congress passed a law prohibiting Chinese workers from entering the country. It stipulated that within 10 years, Chinese people were not allowed to enter the United States except for students, teachers, officials, merchants and travelers. In 1892, the United States Congress passed a bill to continue to ban Chinese workers from traveling to the United States. In 1894, the United States Treaty was signed, stipulating that Chinese workers were prohibited from entering the country within 10 years. By 190

When the four-year treaty expired, the Chinese government declared the treaty invalid, but the United States banned Chinese workers from entering the country was more serious than before. Based on a series of laws prohibiting Chinese workers from entering the country by the US government and the restrictions of the treaty, after 1898, newcomers cannot enter the country; although those who return to the country hold a return paper, when they come back, they are also subject to various difficulties and harsh treatments from the Immigration Bureau, and interrogate them like prisoners. If they disagree, they will be refused to log in or leave the country.

As a result, more than 100,000 Chinese workers had nowhere to go, and finally joined the development of Hawaii. Because the natives of Hawaii were disgusted with white people, they took great care of the Chinese who brought a lot of technology and the Chinese's uncontested attitude. Among them, the Iorani Palace was built by the Chinese. At the same time, a large number of Chinese people joined Hawaiian nationality and intermarried with the natives, becoming the second largest population group in Hawaii. However, these changed since the Hawaii coup in 1894, especially in 1898, Hawaii was officially annexed by the United States, and the Chinese Exclusion Act was implemented again. In the end, the Chinese people were sharply reduced, and instead surpassed the Japanese to become the second largest population group.
