Thirty-six Ugly Monks

Thirty-six       Ugly Monk’s Universal Precepts

In the 16th year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty, Xingfu Temple in Jinan, Shandong Province. After the rebuilt of this temple in the seventh year of Wanli, it was extremely incense, and people prayed for Buddha and prayed for blessings.

On this day, a monk who traveled around here asked for a vegetarian camp. When the monks in the temple saw it, they all laughed loudly. Why? Seeing that this monk was in such a terrible age, he looked extremely ugly, with a sharp head and wide mouth, thin eyes and eyebrows, and his ears were uneven. He had snake waists and legs, and his bones were thin. He was wearing an old monk's robes, with broken shoes, and his shoulders were covered with dirt. His fingers were extremely dirty. However, he disdained the monk's ridicule, and his hands were folded, and he laughed and said, "Amitabha Buddha, the monk's Dharma name is Pujie. He traveled here and wanted to stay in the temple for several days. I have no choice but to let me help you."

There are many monks who come and go to Xingfu Temple on weekdays, and there are many monks who come here to travel here, all of whom are handsome monks from famous mountains and temples. This is the first time that the monks can see them. However, they are both Buddhist disciples and cannot be rejected. The monks in charge responded perfunctorily and asked the two young monks to take Pu Jie to the vegetarian. The two young monks were naughty, and their eyes met each other and took Pu Jie to the kitchen. When serving the food, they deliberately mixed a lot of mustard into the food, trying to see them making a fool of themselves and making fun of them.

Pu Jie smelled the food with a pungent smell. Knowing his intention, he sighed, "You Xingfu Temple is a famous temple. How can you treat guests with this meal? Stop, I eat my own food." So he took out a roast chicken from the package, tore it open, held a chicken leg, and chewed it with relish. The two monks saw it and were stunned. This was a Buddhist clean land. The monks violated the great precepts when they eat meat! However, Pu Jie did not agree, and teared a chicken leg and handed it to the two monks, saying, "Why not share it with them? Please do not be polite." The two monks hurriedly closed their eyes and said guilty, but the roast chicken was fragrant and the fragrance was tempting. The two monks were salivating. Pu Jie shook his head and said, "You are not wise, why not

Hearing that the wine and meat passed through the intestines, the Buddha's heart was here to ask for food." Then he stretched the chicken legs under his nose, and the two little monks opened their mouths to eat. At this time, the head of the affairs officer came and was furious and shouted, "Why are there a wild monks? I dare to scatter wildness in this temple!" So he ordered the monks to drive Pu Jie to him. The monks flocked to him, pushing and pulling him, trying to raise Pu Jie, and throw him out of the temple. However, Pu Jie's legs were as if they had roots, and they let the monks use the power of the prehistoric world, and they were still as stable as Mount Tai. Pu Jie was not anxious or annoyed, and still smiled and said, "Senior brothers, I want to eat chicken, so why should I get angry and take it?" So he stretched the chicken legs towards the head of the affairs officer, and the head of the affairs officer was furious and shouted: "Beat! Beat this evil monk!"

The monks outside the kitchen rushed to the scene after hearing the news, holding sticks to try their martial arts. Pu Jie saw it, grabbed the roast chicken with his hands, fled to the road, and fled to a large tree in the courtyard. The monks were reluctant to give up, and shouted and chased the tree. Suddenly, the wind blew, and the sand and stones flew across the sky and the sun. A giant python jumped out of the tree, nearly six feet long and more than one foot thick, with huge eyes as bright as a basin, and the letter spitted like a long whip. He swallowed a monk and pedaled his legs outside his mouth. Seeing this, the monks had no master, their souls scattered, and they ran away with their heads. Suddenly, the wind was calm, the sun was bright, the birds were singing, the flowers were fragrant, and the smoke sang above the temple.

The old abbot of Xingfu Temple, whose Dharma name is Mingkong, was shocked to hear this and rushed to the scene. He heard the sound of crying for help from the tree. He saw the monk who was swallowed by a python, with a bamboo basket stuck in the tree branch, and was shaking. But Pu Jie sat under the tree, raised his legs and held the chicken legs in his hand, and ate it with relish. Seeing this, the abbot of the abbot of Pu Jie knew that Pu Jie was good at illusion, and went up to laugh and said, "Amitabha, my Dharma name is Mingkong, which is the abbot of this temple. I don't know that the holy monks came to this Han Temple, so I'm asking for a long time to ask the Zen room to talk to him." Pu Jie stood up, looked at the abbot of the abbot, and argued, "Please ask the abbot to strictly control his subordinates.

Disciple, when he saw the roast chicken, he was drooling and dared to rob it clearly. It was outrageous!" Mingkong said, "The little disciples are rude, I am sorry for him." He pointed to the tree, "I asked the holy monk to raise his hand and put it on." Pu Jie was happy, and used his finger to the bamboo basket, chanting the truth from his mouth. The bamboo basket fell to the ground. The monk shouted to come forward to rescue him. The monk in the basket was unscathed and thanked the abbot, Mingkong said, "You will apologize to the master immediately to seek forgiveness." The monks blushed and stuttered, "Master, why do we apologize for the insult of Buddhism?" Mingkong said, "You are the ones who apologize to the master immediately to seek forgiveness." The monks blushed and stuttered, "Master, why do we apologize for the insult of Buddhism?"

Kong Zhi Pu Jie's illusion, he twisted his beard with his hand, and smiled and said, "The disciples are not wise, please give the master the chicken to the disciples for food." Pu Jie said, "Since the abbot has opened a golden mouth, why not do it?" So he distributed the chicken to the monks. Ming Kong saw that the all the chicken was holding the chicken in his hands and did not dare to eat it, so he said, "If you want to eat it, all the sins will be borne by me." When the monks saw that the abbot said, they all opened their mouths to eat it. What a strange thing! The chicken turned into sweet potatoes in the mouth. Everyone was surprised and looked at each other. When they were at a loss, Ming Kong pointed to the chicken bones on the ground, saying, "I will say, "I will take care of it."

He said, "How to deal with this dirt? This is a holy place in Buddhism. If the Buddha blames it, I will be unable to take responsibility." Pu Jie blinked and laughed and said, "What's the difficulty? I will clean it up." He took out the rag from his arms, picked up the chicken bones and wrapped it, and stuffed it into his arms. In an instant, he took out a lively rooster from his arms. When the monks saw it, they were shocked. Mingkong laughed and said, "You disciples can understand it? This is an illusion. You are all deceived." At this time, the monks suddenly explained it. This monk was a Taoist monk, and they are playing with him now!

Since then, Pu Jie lives in a temple. He often goes to the mountains to collect herbs to save the poor and do good deeds. He talks with monks about sutras and Taoisms to promote Buddhism, and plays chess with Mingkong or performs illusions to seek joy in his spare time.

On the Qixi Festival, many young people come to the temple to burn incense and make wishes, and there are bustling around. There are traffic outside the temple, and the rivers are endless. At this time, several people broke into the temple gate, all of whom were burly men. The heads were dressed in a donkey face and monkey cheeks, dressed in gorgeous clothes, wrapped in silk and satin, and looked around. When the pilgrims saw it, they all avoided it, as if they were avoiding the plague god. Who is this? He is the son of the prefect of Jeju, Youkui, who relied on his father's power to bully men and women, and did many evil deeds. The people hated him to the core and called him "Yuo Pervert". The Yuo Pervert brought all evil slaves to this place, not worshiping Buddha. He knew that this festival, the beautiful lady who did not go out on weekdays must come here to make wishes, and wanted to take the opportunity to find a way to vent the desires of the beast.

The beautiful wolf's eyes lit up. He saw a sedan chair not far away. A beautiful woman from 28 got out of the sedan chair. The maid and his family followed him. His lustfulness was rippling and coveted. He thought: There was such a beautiful woman in Jeju City. I don't want to give her. So he smiled and asked, "Where is the lady's house? What's the fate of coming here? Do you think of me? How about this young master?" The evil slaves also rushed over and surrounded the sedan chair and laughed. Seeing this, the old family shouted angrily, "Don't be rude to the beasts! You can tell that my lady is

The infantry commander Li Zhi's sister, if Lord Li knows, he will peel the skin of the dog, get out!" After hearing this, Yu Pervert laughed and said, "I heard that Miss Li is the sister of Commander Li. How wonderful. If she is willing to marry her sister to this young master, she will be promoted and rich." After saying that, she stepped forward and pushed her hometown away, trying to hold Miss Li's hand. Miss Li was furious, her almond eyes widened, her willow eyebrows were upside down, and she tried to spit on her face. However, she was not ashamed, but she smeared her hand and said, "What a wonderful thing! Spit on her again, hehe!" She rushed to Miss Li, and wanted to kiss her. The maid was big

He shouted for help, and the old family bravely stopped him. The onlookers dared to be angry but did not dare to say it. At this critical moment, something like a chewing man suddenly fell from the sky, and he was unable to move. He smelled it, and the smell was furious. He looked at it tightly and looked at it. He was only broken straw sandals! He was furious. Who did this? He looked back and saw a thin and dry monk with an ugly appearance apologized to Miss Li, saying, "This donkey is raised by my monk, and I lack discipline. Please don't blame me, I'm sorry." The onlookers laughed, and the onlookers were furious and shouted: "The bald donkey seeks death!" Fei

He kicked the ugly monk's heart. Yusuwo has practiced fists and feet on weekdays and wants to kick the ugly monk to death. Who knows that the ugly monk does not move at all, but Yusuwo flew five feet away, as if his heart was kicked hard, his throat was salty, his blood was surging, and his mouth was spitting dirty blood, and he fell to the ground. The ugly monk brushed his chest and laughed as if nothing had happened, saying, "The beast is crazy, let you laugh. The general precepts should be strictly regulated in the future to correct him." Yusuwo had heard that there was a general precept monk with great magic and powerful magic, and no one could defeat him. He hurriedly endured the pain and fled to the ground. When everyone saw it, they applauded.

Not long after, when he heard that the horse was playing the bell at the foot of the mountain, a young and heroic general rode his horse to the front of the temple. This was Li Zhi, the commander of the Jinan infantry. He heard that his family reported that his sister was harassed by the criminals, and was furious and rushed to rescue him. Seeing that his sister was safe and sound, he was relieved. He also heard that Pu Jie was rescued and hurriedly stepped forward to express his gratitude and thanked him, "Thank you for the Holy Monk's help. I am very grateful. I have heard of the name of the Holy Monk for a long time. I regret meeting them too late." Pu Jie helped him and laughed and said, "This is a painstaking move, and it is not worth mentioning. Why should the general do this great gift?"

At this point, Li Zhi often came to Xingfu Temple to ask Yu Pujie. The two talked about major events in the world, which was quite speculative. Sometimes, until late at night, Pujie advised Li Zhi to abandon the customs and enter Buddhism to avoid war disasters. However, Li Zhi was reluctant to give up his wish to serve the country with his own heart. The two of them became friends over time and became close friends.

The following year, Li Zicheng captured Beijing, Chongzhen hanged himself on the Mie Mountain, Wu Sangui led the Qing army into the pass, and the Ming Dynasty was in danger. The Qing army Suhatai led 100,000 troops to attack Jinan, and the governor of You abandoned the city and fled. On the way, he encountered a Qing ambush. He and the evil young man You were shot and killed by arrows. Li Zhi led the army and the civilians to defend the city and swear to death. In the end, because he was outnumbered, the city was trapped and captured. Suhatai cherished Li Zhi's talents and tried every means to persuade him to surrender, but Li Zhi refused him righteously. Suhatai decided to punish Li Zhi and beheaded him three days later.

On the day of the execution, the clouds were covered with cold wind. The people felt their loyalty and righteousness, prepared wine and food to see them off, and the crying sounds shook the earth. The execution ground was very cautious, and Li Zhi was tied to the guillotine, and he was terrified and unafraid. At this time, Pu Jie rushed into the verdict like a madman, and was immediately captured and pushed to Suhatai. Suhatai asked sternly, "Bold monk! Do you break into the verdict? What's the point?" Pu Jie clasped his hands together and replied, "Amitabha, the monk admired Li Zhi as a hero, and wanted to chant scriptures for him to save him. I hope the master would let him do it." Su Ha Tai also admired Li Zhi's loyalty and righteousness, and saw that Pu Jie was alone and was unable to rob the verdict and had an accident, so he agreed.

Pu Jie first treated Li Zhi three glasses of wine, then sat cross-legged and meditated, took several stacks of paper in his arms, lit the paper, closed his eyes and recited the scriptures. In an instant, the fire rose, and the paper ash floated up, and the paper ash gathered more and more, covering the sky and the sun. Everyone was shocked. Su Ha Tai saw that something was wrong, so he ordered the execution to be executed, but it was too late. The paper ash suddenly turned into countless goshawks, and swept down towards the Qing soldiers. The soldiers were pecked, and the face was covered with blood. Su Ha Tai was also pecked, and Su Ha Tai was pecked, and the execution ground was in chaos. Su Ha Tai suddenly exploded and thunder sounded, and the rain poured down. The eagles met the rain and turned back to the paper ash and landed one after another. Everyone looked at the guillotine again, and Li Zhi and Pu Jie were left without a trace! Su Ha Tai was furious and ordered the city gate to close and searched each family. But he failed. He sent soldiers to search Xingfu Temple, but there was still no trace of Pu Jie and Li Zhi. Afterwards, all those who were pecked by the eagle had their wounds pushen and died without healing!

Where did Pu Jie and Li Zhi escape? There were many different opinions. Mingkong's abbot sighed, "Hey! Buddhist disciples should have no disputes with the world, but Li Zhi is Pu Jie's close friend, how could he not save him? Li Zhi was saved, and he might rebel against the Qing Dynasty and restore Ming again, or he would convert to Buddhism without being in the world, and go to the mountains to cultivate himself to avoid the disputes and chaos in the world, but no one knew where he lived in seclusion."
