Chapter 47 The 26th Division of the Sichuan Army is on its way out of the Anti-Japanese War in Sichu

The Sichuan Army marched to the front line in three groups. Almost 300,000 Sichuan Army soldiers were about to die on the battlefield in this anti-Japanese war.

Beginning in August 1937, the Sichuan Army was ordered to go to various anti-Japanese front lines in three groups:

The first route is led by Deng Xihou, Commander-in-Chief of the 22nd Group Army (the 41st Army, Commander Sun Zhen; the 45th Army, Commander Chen Shunong; the 47th Army, Commander Li Jiayu) starts from Chengdu, walks on the Sichuan-Shaanxi Highway to Baoji, and then along Longhai Road

Marched eastward, passed Tongguan, crossed the Yellow River, and entered Shanxi to assist Commander Yan's Shanxi-Sui Army in fighting the Japanese.

The second route is led by Liu Xiang, Commander-in-Chief of the 23rd Group Army (the 21st Army, Commander Tang Shizun; the 23rd Army, Commander Pan Wenhua; the 44th Army, Commander Wang Zuanxu). This route starts from Chaotianmen Wharf in Chongqing and takes a boat along the east side of the Yangtze River

Next, via Wuhan, transfer to Xuchang and Zhengzhou to participate in the defense of Nanjing, the capital.

The third route, the 20th Army led by Sichuan Army General Yang Sen, set off from Guizhou and headed directly to Songhu to participate in the Battle of Songhu.

After most of the Sichuan Army troops came out to fight in Sichuan, each of them had thin military uniforms, poor weapons and equipment, and even cold weapons accounted for most of them.

That is to say, there are only two sets of coarse cloth clothes, a single quilt, a straw mat, two pairs of straw sandals, a bamboo hat, an old sleeve, or a cold weapon, such as a spear and a broadsword.

But even so,

The anti-Japanese slogans and fighting spirit of the Sichuan Army still issued their famous declaration.

"We will fight to the end and remain unswerving, that is, the enemy troops will not withdraw from the country for a day, and the Sichuan army will never return home!"

This was the time when Commander Liu Xiang supported going out to Sichuan to fight against the Japanese invaders, and it was also a firm idea of resisting Japan.

But at this time, the Sichuan Army troops that Liu Feiyang was paying attention to had begun to attack the 26th Division that came out of Sichuan to fight against Japan after the "Battle of Songhu" broke out.

The 26th Division belongs to the 43rd Army of Guo Rudong of the Sichuan Army. After the Sichuan-Kang Army Reorganization Conference, the 43rd Army only retained this Sichuan Army Division.

It is also because of this that the so-called 43rd Army of the Sichuan Army actually only has the strength of one division.

The commander of this division is Liu Yuqing.

A Sichuan Army general with very good combat command capabilities.

So after the Battle of Songhu broke out,

Under the leadership of division commander Liu Yuqing, this Sichuan Army unit with inferior weapons and equipment immediately rushed from its base in Guizhou to Songhu to support the Anti-Japanese War.

Guizhou and Songhu are almost 2,000 kilometers apart.

This is a very long road,

But even if it is such a long road,

In order to defend the country and fight against the Japanese invasion, division commander Liu Yuqing still used his main force, 4 infantry regiments, 1 engineering company for building fortifications, and 1 communications company, almost 10,000 Sichuan officers and soldiers, to

Take them all out of Sichuan to fight the war.

Heading towards Songhu, where the war is getting more intense,

After leaving the Guizhou garrison, the fate of the troops of the 26th Division of the Sichuan Army led by Division Commander Liu Yuqing also followed the same anti-Japanese path as the 20th Army, which was personally commanded by Commander Yang Sen.

All the way over mountains and ridges, taking boats and trains, staying overnight at dawn, and walking on foot, along the Hunan-Guizhou Highway, we marched on foot in the direction of Songhu with a firm goal.

Since the 26th Division is not a direct unit of Commander Liu Xiang of Sichuan, nor is it a direct unit of the Central Army, it is just a Sichuan Army sequence belonging to the local army.

Therefore, this Sichuan army not only lacks military training, but also has very inferior and crude weapons and equipment. Most of the soldiers are equipped with old Hanyang-made equipment. Each company only has three or four machine guns, and each regiment does not have a few mortars.

gun.

There are even many Sichuan army officers and soldiers who come to fight with a variety of cold weapons.

And compared with the dilapidated and extremely inferior weapons and equipment carried by the officers and soldiers of the 26th Division of the Sichuan Army, the Japanese troops,

Not only do they have sophisticated weapons and equipment and sufficient ammunition supplies, but they also have heavy firepower weapons and equipment such as aircraft, tanks, cannons, and naval gun groups, and troops to carry out support and cover operations.

Therefore, the combat strength between the Sichuan Army and the Japanese Army is very different.

But even so, the Sichuan Army unit led by division commander Liu Yuqing still resolutely went out to fight in Sichuan, risking their lives at any time to die on the battlefield.

If calculated according to the original timeline of time and space, then this 26th Division of the Sichuan Army needs to be in the time period of October 17th.

Only then were they able to reach the battlefield of the Songhu Battle, and were ordered to enter the front-line positions such as Yujiazhai, Zhujiazhai, and Lijiazhai to shoulder the task of blocking the Japanese invaders' attack.

He even had to be ordered to take over Song Xilian's command from the 36th Division to defend the defensive position of Dachang Town.

What follows will be a very fierce battle,

The 26th Division of the Sichuan Army held firm in Dachang Town, Songhu for seven days, with nearly tens of thousands of Sichuan troops, but in the end only less than 600 troops were left.

Two of the division's four regiment commanders were killed and one was wounded, 13 of the 14 battalion commanders were injured, and only one battalion commander remained.

The company commander and platoon commander suffered more than 250 casualties.

Among the surviving teams assembled after the war, most were lightly wounded with bandages; they were all half-clothed, disgraced, and their clothes were in tatters, and their bodies were all splattered with mud and blackened blood, or

It's fresh blood stains,

Some were barefoot, some wore straw sandals; everyone was hungry, covered in dust, and disgraced, but the will of these remnant soldiers to resist Japan was still very firm.

However, just as this group of Sichuan troops led by division commander Liu Yuqing were marching on foot through the barren mountains,

However, they suddenly discovered that on their way forward, a well-equipped German army suddenly appeared.
