Chapter 163: The Seance
After hearing that he was a police officer, he passed the doorman easily. An old man who looked like a silver-haired butler received Annick in the lobby.
"Mr. Annick, Miss Annick informed us last week that a distinguished guest was visiting. Unfortunately, the master went to Lumang to attend the opening of the two houses in two weeks, so I can only entertain him."
He is really a member of the House of Commons. No wonder Brandon missed more classes in school than I did and still managed to graduate. I can only envy the life simulator for all the points he put into reincarnation.
Annick walked down the steps and replied: "Same, I'm here to visit my old classmates this time. Is Brandon at home?"
"Yes, but you may have heard that the young master's mental state is not normal."
"It's okay, I'll go take a look."
In a building that looked like a converted barn to the east of Lynch's house, the door was closed. The old housekeeper of Lynch's house knocked on the door.
A rough voice came from inside, "Isn't it lunch time? Don't disturb me without my permission."
"Master, your classmate Mr. Annick is here to see you." the butler replied.
"Classmate? That group of fair-weather friends stayed away from me after they heard that I voluntarily gave up my family property. How come there are still classmates who come to see me? Wait, are you talking about Annick Saston, this alien?"
There was a thunderous sound inside the house, and then the door opened a crack, and a man with a dirty face stuck out his head. The beard covered the entire face, and the hair on his head had not been washed for a long time to form strips. There was only golden hair.
With the high bridge of his nose, he can still be identified as Brandon.
"It's really you. You are the only one in our class who is not so snobbish. Wait while I go to wash up. Come in and sit where you like. Don't mess up my research materials."
The door was opened, and it turned out to be a two-story building converted from a barn. The first floor was covered with books. Annick took a quick glance at the history and stories of gods and monsters from various regions. Important books were also bookmarked by Brandon.
, Annick climbed to the attic on the second floor through a narrow ladder. There was only a circular window connected to the outside world, and there was no second light source in the entire attic.
After adapting to the dim environment, Annick observed the entire attic. There was a simple single bed next to a wooden desk. There were pens and inks and a stack of manuscripts. There was a wooden board hanging on the wall.
The important events from the Golden Age to the Black Iron Age are listed on it according to the timeline.
There were some scattered items on the floor, including candles, metal wine glasses, incense, and a crystal pendant. There was also a large pool of ink, as if it had been wiped off after scribbling on the floor.
Annick couldn't help but want to turn over the manuscript and take a look, but thinking that this might be self-defeating, it would be better to wait and guide Brandon to speak for himself.
On the first floor, there is a brief history of the noble genealogy of the Kingdom of Bruguet. Among the books in the room, this one has no trace of being used. Annick also saw the family of his classmate.
"You didn't mess with my collection." After washing, Brandon looked much refreshed. Although the beard on his face was still there, he was almost transformed from an ape to a normal savage.
"No, I just went up and took a quick look, and then I started reading this boring book." Annick gestured to the brick-thick book in his hand.
"It's quite boring, but maybe it will be useful in the future so I'll take it over."
"I didn't expect you to be interested in history or shady history. In theory, you can be considered one of the heirs to the throne of the kingdom." Annick did not miss the opportunity to tease this old classmate.
"Huh? What did you find? By the way, it's hard to understand your identity now. As for the throne, when the Lynch family founded the country, the royal family was divided into distant branches. I think there are still a few hundred people ahead of me in the order of the throne."
Brandon beckoned Annick up to the attic.
"How much do you probably know?" Brandon asked straightforwardly.
"Do you want to say supernatural power or hidden history?" Annick pretended to be stupid.
"It doesn't matter. How do you judge that I am interested in these things?"
Annick pointed at the pile of miscellaneous items under the desk, "They are all ritual magic items, and crystal pendants are the most common divination items. If you are not out of your mind and doing all these fancy things, you must be trying to hold a ritual."
"You are deeper into that world than I thought. Could it be that you are already extraordinary?" Brandon asked curiously.
Without further ado, Annick lifted Brandon's single bed up with one hand. He seemed to be doing it effortlessly.
"It seems you are already. How do you feel?"
"It's not good, you still have to pay the price. In your position, you should know about the enlightenment potion, why don't you try it."
"It's just the side effects that I don't want to bear. I don't want to be an ordinary rich second generation who eats and drinks until I die."
Why does it sound so Versailles?
"So you have collected so many stories about gods and monsters and want to try to find a new path?"
"It's not an attempt, it's an inheritance." Brandon said seriously, and then took out a piece of paper.
The astral seance ceremony was written in large fonts on the note. It looked so familiar, why did the seance look so unreliable?
"Where did you get this? Is it reliable? It couldn't have been picked up in the library." Annick asked.
"No, a handwritten version was given to me by an assistant teacher at the school. He said that it is more likely to be tried by more than one person."
Assistant coach? Try? Annick came to his senses.
"Is this teaching assistant gone? Did he commit suicide or not?" I could have stayed in the school originally, but because of the shortage of teaching assistants, my tutor recommended me.
"I don't know. He disappeared in mid-June and the original manuscript was burned."
There must be a conspiracy, the fragments in Annick's mind are put together.
In early May, someone stole the ancient text, and various ritual magic parts were placed at Eggsburg University. Some unlucky ones picked it up and tried to hold it. The mastermind behind the scenes must be secretly observing the effect. The successful ones were probably taken away, and the failed ones were probably taken away.
Most of them have been disposed of.
Thinking of this, cold sweat breaks out on Annick's head. Is this considered a success or a failure? Why haven't I been taken away yet? Am I an animal that was experimented on and then secretly observed?
"What's wrong with you? You look so ugly?"
"It's nothing. Didn't you notice that there was a city-wide manhunt for little black men in June?"
"You noticed it, otherwise you would think this barn is used. I am hiding here under the pretext of contracting an infectious disease."
Um, I can't learn this trick, I have to have a house like this first.
"What is the seance ceremony like? What is the principle?" Annick asked.
