886,Dont open the door late at night(1/2)

9 pm.

There can still be rustling sounds from time to time around the cabin, and the various birds and beasts in the woods can always bring you unexpected surprises.

Gu Chen was lying on the bed and could already distinguish the calls of no less than a dozen species of birds in the surrounding woods.

In summer, the woods in the countryside seem to have become a kingdom of insects. They "have fun" here unscrupulously, for fear that others will not know that this is their territory.

Since everyone lives in a bungalow on the outskirts of Guangming Town, there are no buildings around, so the jungle always gives people a sense of privacy.

There is a small river surrounding the bungalow, which flows to Guangming Town. On both sides of the river are large willow trees with roots deeply rooted in the soil on the river bank.

In everyone's impression, among the five trees that attract ghosts, there is a willow tree.

And this place always gives people an eerie feeling.

You can't feel it during the day, but when night falls, this weird feeling becomes more obvious.

Gu Chen and Officer Wang lived in a small house, while Lu Weiwei, Yuan Shasha and Zhou Xiaoling lived in the next room.

Considering Zhou Xiaoling's feelings, although everyone agreed to take Zhang Mu to live here during the day, they finally discussed with Principal Gao Ming and arranged a bed in a nursing home for him.

In this way, in the bungalow at night, from left to right, the rooms where everyone lives are:

On the far left are Lu Weiwei, Yuan Shasha and Zhou Xiaoling, next door are Gu Chen and Officer Wang, then on the right is the hunchbacked Uncle Liu, and lastly is Uncle Qin.

In the room, Officer Wang couldn't sleep. Everyone was laying on the floor and lighting mosquito coils, but there was still some peculiar smell in the surrounding air.

The entire room was a temporary utility room, and it was certainly incomparable to Officer Wang's large single room in the police dormitory.

All the good beds were given to other members of the volunteer association. There was nothing to say about this originally, but Officer Wang recognized the bed. This unfamiliar environment, especially the unpleasant smell in the air, was the main reason that prevented Officer Wang from sleeping.

Officer Wang also tried to count sheep, and the result was that he became more energetic as he counted, and felt that his whole body was excited.

Sitting up, Officer Wang looked at the quiet Gu Chen beside him and asked, "Gu Chen, are you asleep?"

"Not yet." Gu Chen also turned around, looked at Officer Wang and asked, "What's wrong, Senior Brother Wang?"

"I can't sleep, I want to go for a walk." Officer Wang was walking around the room wearing flowery underwear.

Although it is summer, Guangming Town is still very cool at night.

Gu Chen glanced out the window, especially when he heard the strange noises of animals coming from the forest from time to time, he couldn't help but remind him: "Brother Wang, the mountains here are high and the forests are dense. It's best not to go out at night."

"And I heard from Uncle Qin that there are often wild beasts around. Just stay in the house and sleep well until dawn. Anything outside has nothing to do with us."

Officer Wang chuckled and said, "Do you think there is anything else we can expect in this wilderness?"

"Beasts? There are still wild beasts that dare to approach humans now? Wild beasts are afraid of humans, right?"

"That's not what I said." Gu Chen also sat up and yawned: "When I was playing chess with Uncle Qin in the evening, he mentioned it to me. He heard that there were wild boars in the forest, and that he once destroyed the yard.

The fence inside was broken, this wild boar is very ferocious."

"Stop talking." Officer Wang couldn't help but feel a little scared after hearing what Gu Chen said, but he said truthfully: "Actually... I just need to urinate urgently and want to go out to the toilet."

"You didn't tell me earlier." Gu Chen glanced at him.

"Then you didn't ask," Officer Wang said.

Gu Chen grinned and stood up directly: "Okay, I'll go out to pee with you."

When you open the door, there is a dark wind around you, giving you a mysterious feeling.

Although the room is lit with mosquito coils, mosquitoes are flying outside, and you know, mosquitoes in the mountains are all vampires.

Therefore, after Gu Chen and Officer Wang found the latrine for convenience, they hurried back to the room.

I don’t know how long it has been...

When the moonlight was obscured by dark clouds and the surroundings were already dead silent, Gu Chen suddenly vaguely heard some sporadic footsteps moving outside the courtyard.

Due to the chirping of the surrounding insects, a lot of interference is added to the surrounding environment.

Therefore, Gu Chen could only use his expert observation skills, and couldn't help but prick up his ears, ready to listen to what was going on outside.

Soon, a burst of three consecutive knocks woke Officer Wang, who had already entered a semi-sleep state, again.

At this moment, the three consecutive "knock-knock-knock-knocks" sounded again outside the yard. The sound was very loud, breaking the tranquility of the surroundings.

"Who could it be this late at night?" Officer Wang yawned and refused to move, so he asked Gu Chen to go and have a look: "Gu Chen, go and have a look."

"Could it be a wild boar at the arch? Isn't it said that a wild boar will visit? And the gate of the yard is locked to ward off wild animals that visit at night."

Gu Chen certainly does not rule out this possibility...

However, just when Gu Chen was about to get up to check, the lights in the room next door suddenly turned on, followed by a squeaking sound from the old wooden door. The hunchbacked Uncle Liu next door coughed and walked out of the room, seemingly to check the situation.

Out of curiosity, Gu Chen quietly walked to the window to observe.

Uncle Liu walked to the door of the courtyard and looked around for a few times. After making sure that no one was there, he yawned and walked back to the room.

At this time, Gu Chen noticed that the lights in the room next to Uncle Liu also turned on, and Uncle Qin's inquiry soon came.

"Old Liu, who is outside?"

"I don't know, it's probably an animal in the mountains, right? No one has seen it." Uncle Liu yawned, and his whole body was in low spirits.

"It's such a sweet dream to be awakened. Old Liu, you should go to sleep quickly." Uncle Qin's voice was a little tired. It looked like he was really tired. He probably played chess with him today.

Gu Chen thought so.

Soon, the lights went out.

The area around the old house became quiet again. Gu Chen lowered his head and looked at his watch. It was already around 11 o'clock.

Although 11 o'clock at night seems to be just the beginning of nightlife for city dwellers.

This chapter is not over yet, please click on the next page to continue reading! But for some more remote rural areas, villagers will generally fall asleep between nine and ten o'clock in the evening without playing cards.

I knocked on the door at 11 o'clock at night, but there was no one there, which was a bit strange.

"Could someone be playing a prank?" Gu Chen thought to himself and glanced at Officer Wang beside him.

Officer Wang was probably exhausted. After a while, he had already drifted into sleep and kept blowing bubbles from his mouth.

"Could it be a wild beast?" Gu Chen wasn't sure, but the few knocks on the door just now made people feel extremely strange.

Of course, for people like Uncle Liu and Uncle Qin who are often harassed by wild beasts, it is no longer strange.

Gu Chen couldn't tell what was wrong, but he still felt it was necessary not to sleep too much.

Maybe someone would sneak into the room in the middle of the night and steal?

Don't you know there's a police car parked outside?

Gu Chen didn't want to think wildly, so he just thought it was a wild beast passing by the yard and running towards the archway?

After all, there are often some food residues in a yard like this. When Gu Chen was having dinner with everyone, some birds would often fly over and peck at the residue on the ground.

Thinking of this, Gu Chen squinted his eyes again to rest.

I don’t know how long it took, but suddenly there were several “knock-knock-knock” knocks on the door again in the courtyard.

The sound was so loud that Gu Chen had to open his eyes again.

"Who is it? Are you going to let me sleep?" Uncle Liu's curse came from the next room again.

Gu Chen opened his eyes and looked down at the time. It was already 11:05 pm, and only 5 minutes had passed since the last knock on the door.

And within these 5 minutes, Gu Chen just took a nap.

The lights in the next room came on again, and the hunchbacked Uncle Liu pushed open the wooden door with a creak and walked toward the courtyard door aggressively.

Gu Chen, on the other hand, came to the window lightly to check what was going on outside.

At this moment, Gu Chen clearly saw that the hunchbacked Uncle Liu picked up a urine spoon for watering vegetables from the door and prepared to teach the thing at the door a lesson.

"I'm sorry, old man." Suddenly a familiar young man's voice came from the door: "I am Zhang Mu!"

"Zhang Mu? Are you the Zhang Mu who came here during the day?" Uncle Liu seemed to recognize the person. This person was a psoriasis man who was specially attached to Zhou Xiaoling. Uncle Liu would not have known this.

Seeing Zhang Mu standing at the door, Uncle Liu took the urine spoon and asked him: "Are you looking for Zhou Xiaoling again? That girl is probably asleep. You should look for him tomorrow."

"No, no." After hearing what Uncle Liu said, Zhang Mu quickly defended himself: "I'm not here to see Zhou Xiaoling, I'm here to see Uncle Qin."

"Old Qin?" Uncle Liu stared blankly and continued to ask him: "What are you looking for Old Qin for?"

"Just... there are a few old men who live in my dormitory. They want to play cards with Uncle Qin, but they are short of three."

"Nonsense." Uncle Liu glared and said angrily: "No one has asked him to play cards with Lao Qin for so long. Will he be free tonight?"

"I don't know either." Zhang Mu scratched the back of his head and said helplessly: "Those old men live in the same room with me. They seem to have drunk too much and won't sleep. They insist on dragging me to play cards, but I don't want to

I can."

"Then they discussed it and said that they should go to Lao Qin. They said they haven't played cards with Lao Qin for many years. Today, many guests came to the nursing home. It was very lively and they were very happy. They wanted to call him Uncle Qin.

Go over and play cards."

"Really or not?" The hunchbacked Uncle Liu was doubtful and couldn't help but said: "Why don't you just make a phone call? Why do you need to make this trip?"

"It's not because it's dark and the road is slippery. It's for Uncle Qin's safety." Zhang Mu glanced at the room where Zhou Xiaoling lived, and suddenly lowered his tone and said: "Actually, I also wanted to see if Zhou Xiaoling was sleeping? So I agreed to come over.

Send Uncle Qin over to play cards."
