Chapter 24 The Harmonious Atmosphere of the Barren Village

While waiting for supper.

Kakashi and the others started chatting with the old man.

Through chatting, Kakashi and the others learned about the situation in this village.

The village is called Shuihuo Village. The reason for this name is that this village is an important road leading to the Kingdom of Fire and the Kingdom of Rain.

The village was originally bustling and prosperous with hundreds of people, but with the emergence of the war, the population of the village was reduced in large quantities. Now, there are only almost everyone left in the entire village.

The old man's family is one of them.

Years of war have not only brought about a reduction in population, but also made them unable to eat.

If this village had not been an important road, many merchants who made money in war would have passed by here, and some merchants would have been kind enough to leave some food, otherwise the remaining old, weak, sick and disabled people in the village would have been starved to death.

Kakashi and the other two, as members of the Fire Country, were a little disgusted when they heard the old man's description.

However, this is not something they can change.

In this war, the only thing they can do is probably to do their best and then let the war end as soon as possible.

As we chatted, the old lady's voice came from the kitchen.

"Old man, it's served!"

"Here you come!" The old man replied, and was about to get up and go to the kitchen.

Kakashi and others were busy and got up at the same time.

Kakashi said: "Grandpa, let's do this kind of thing."

"Yes. Today it is so rainy, no one ignores us. Only you have kindness to help us. Now, we have to keep us for dinner. If we just let us sit here, we will feel sorry!" Obito said.

However, the old man shook his head decisively, "Thank you for your kindness, but this is my home. I have the final say. You can continue to rest."

After saying that, the old man pulled his granddaughter away without looking back.

Kakashi and the other two froze.

Since the old man said this, what else can they say?

Then he sat back.

Two lives have made Kakashi develop a habit of recalling and summing up what just happened.

This summary is not good.

He suddenly felt that the things he had experienced in the evening were a little inappropriate.

This made Kakashi frown slightly. He looked around, trying to find some clues.

But the environment of this room is a very ordinary room, and there is not much difference between the room he lives on, so naturally there are no clues.

Obito noticed Kakashi's expression and asked in confusion, "Kakashi, what are you looking at?"

"Nothing." Kakashi smiled and shook his head.

As a rigorous person, he naturally would not tell Obito what he was thinking at the moment before he reached the conclusion, otherwise, with Obito's temperament, he would probably call himself ungrateful.

Not long after.

The old man, the old lady, and the little girl came with supper.

Affected by the war disaster, it is difficult for this family to survive, so it is naturally impossible to provide Kakashi and the others with a rich meal.

Fortunately, Kakashi and the other two ran hard for the afternoon, didn't eat or rest, so even though they saw the simple rice in front of them - the soup without rice, the dried cakes, a stack of pickles, and a stack of wild vegetables.

Still think it's great.

The old lady smiled embarrassedly, "I can only treat you with these, please forgive me."

"Where? It's already very good!" Obito smiled, "We used to carry out the executive--"

"Cough." Lin coughed dryly, and quietly pulled Obito's clothes, interrupting Obito's words.

Only then did Obito think that the family in front of him had fallen to this point because of the war between ninjas, but now he almost revealed his identity. Isn’t this annoying?

What made Obito breathe a sigh of relief was that the old lady and the old man seemed to be old and had poor ears, so they did not show any strange expressions.

After experiencing this, Obito has lost the nature of continuing to speak.

The whole room was filled with people, in a quieter atmosphere, and finished supper.

At this time, it was around 8 o'clock in the evening, and the heavy rain outside the window was still falling, and the drizzle seemed to be getting heavier.

I had no choice but to spend the night here.

Kakashi asked: "Old lady, grandpa, can we allow us to stay here for a night?"

"Okay." The old lady agreed readily, "Now we are the only one family left in the village! It's not me that the family has not been as lively as it is today for a long time."

"Thank you, mother-in-law!" Obito looked happy and hurriedly expressed his gratitude.

Kakashi frowned slightly.

Only one family is left?

Didn’t the old man just said that there are still a few families left?

Before coming to this house, Kakashi and the others knocked on almost all the houses in the village, but every house was locked, and no one seemed to be willing to help them...

If there is only this family left in this village, then what happened just now - who locked those houses, isn't it?

Or is it actually just this old lady’s mistake?

While Kakashi was in deep thought, the old lady had already gotten up and arranged a room for Kakashi and the others and said, "The family is relatively small and I can't prepare an independent room for you. Do you think this arrangement is good? What about this little girl-"

The old lady pointed at Lin, "The same room as me."

"Yes." Lin nodded.

"And you two young men, please sleep in the living room. Although there is still a bedroom, my old man and my little granddaughter want to live there." The old woman said embarrassedly.

Kakashi shrugged.

Obito also said there was no problem.

Before doing the mission, they all slept in the wilderness.

Now that there is a house to live in, it is already very satisfying.

Seeing that Kakashi and Obito had no objection, the old lady waved to Lin, "Little girl, come with me."

Kakashi looked at Lin who was leaving with the old lady, and the inappropriate feeling in her heart became even worse, so when Lin was about to enter another room, Kakashi suddenly spoke, "Lin!"

"What's wrong, Kakashi?" Lin stopped and turned to look at Kakashi.

"I thought about it carefully. It's already a great help from the old lady and the old man who are willing to help us. So, you might as well be in the living room? If we are together, if there is any trouble, we can take care of each other." Kakashi said.

Lin felt that what Kakashi said made sense, so she nodded, but just as she was about to answer, she saw the old lady returning to the living room and said dissatisfiedly: "What do you two men live with a little girl?"

"Old woman, don't worry, we usually-" Obito spoke without thinking, but before he finished speaking, Lin glared at him again and swallowed the rest back into his stomach. Obviously, if he told the old woman that they often slept together during tasks, they would inevitably be reminded of their identity.

Kakashi showed his signature smile to the old lady, "Old lady, it's okay. The three of us are very good friends. We usually play together and often sleep together at night. Nothing happened before."

"That's not OK. After all, this is a wilderness. Who knows if you two will be ill-treated to the little girl?" the old lady said righteously.

Kakashi frowned and waited for it to be said again, Obito suddenly thought of something, pointed at Kakashi, and said dissatisfiedly: "Kakashi, can you suspect that the old lady will be bad for Lin, right? How is this possible? Have you forgotten? The old lady and the old lady just warmly treated us! They can't be bad people."

Kakashi sighed helplessly.

He has no evidence to show anything now.

Maybe I'm thinking too much.

"Lin, have a good dream." Kakashi changed his words.
