Chapter 29 The Star in Prison (Part 2)
Carnevale is a rebellious person and full of vigilance for the things around him. It is not easy to gain his full trust.
The warden told Zhuang Mingge that if Zhuang Mingge went to see Carnevale alone without his companion, he would probably be turned away.
Zhuang Mingge was the first time he saw such a great prisoner. He thought the warden took him there personally because of his "identity", but he didn't expect there was such a reason.
Zhuang Mingge originally thought that Carnevale was detained in a "high-end" cell, but he soon discovered that the place where Carnevale "retreat" was actually the staff dormitory of prison staff.
The warden saw Zhuang Mingge's doubts, and he explained it:
"Carnevale is now less than two months away from his release. It's just that no one comes to bail him, so he has to wait until his sentence is over before he can be released. Considering his special circumstances, we specially arranged for him to move to the employee dormitory. Now, he enjoys the treatment of 'resident surveillance'."
Zhuang Mingge was not very familiar with the relevant laws in Italy. He asked the warden if he could bail Carnevale, but the warden rolled his eyes:
"Mr. Corleon, I believe you can afford this bail, but no one should think of bailing Andre (Carnevale) until next Sunday's final." After saying that, the warden realized that this did not seem to be what a government staff member should say and immediately added, "This is Andre's personal will, and we need to fully support and respect his personal ideas, which is the right he should have."
Zhuang Mingge ignored the warden who was showing off his cleverness. He took out his cell phone and called the Qatar Football Association: It would be better for the Qatar people to pay the bail for Carnevale.
On the other end of the phone, an official from the Qatar Football Association heard that Zhuang Mingge had found a "star player" who could be signed for free in prison, or a national player who represented the Italian national team in the last World Cup, was immediately overjoyed and shouted on the phone without any gentlemanship:
"Get it! Of course you can get it! We Qataris can certainly get this bail! Mr. Corleon, I would like to thank you very much for your contribution to the development of Qatari football."
After politely speaking to the other party, Zhuang Mingge hung up the phone and kept muttering in his heart, if it weren't for you who could contribute a large sum of dollars to us, who would have been willing to contribute to the development of Qatar football.
After Zhuang Mingge met Carnevale, the development of the matter was completely inconsistent with what Zhuang Mingge had imagined. Originally, Zhuang Mingge thought that "radical" elements like Carnevale would have to spend a lot of talk to each other, but he didn't expect that he just told Carnevale about the idea of inviting him to play in the Qatar League. Before he could even lobby in the "plan", Carnevale had already agreed happily. The pleasure that seemed to finally grab a life-saving straw made Zhuang Mingge, who had been a little thrilling in his heart before, felt incredible:
Has he agreed so quickly? This big brother didn't even have time to ask about his salary.
Zhuang Mingge felt that it would be fine if he had taken advantage of it once. He did not want Carnevale, who would become a future member of Florence, to be taken advantage of by others. Considering that Carnevale does not have an agent yet, Zhuang Mingge asked Carne, who was beside him, to take out an agency contract and hand it over to him.
Carnevale had no objection to Zhuang Mingge's arrangement. She briefly looked at the contract and easily signed his name on it. However, before signing the contract, he asked the agency to lend him $50,000 to "emergency" first, and Zhuang Mingge happily agreed.
Through a brief contact, Zhuang Mingge felt the passion that a man who grew up in adversity should have from Carnevale, and there was also an emotion that only those who truly love the sport of football had. Although the contact time was short, a certain degree of "like-mindedness" quickly brought everyone closer. When saying goodbye to Carnevale, Zhuang Mingge clearly saw an indescribable desire and expectation from Carnevale's eyes.
Later, the warden told Zhuang Mingge that in fact, Carnevale's wife Paula has been helping him contact the club he had played for recently, hoping that Carnevale would be accepted by them after being released from prison. Unfortunately, the result was disappointing. Carnevale was willing to accept playing in the Qatar League unconditionally from the beginning, which also has a lot to do with her experience in this regard.
In fact, there is no need for the warden to nag too much. Zhuang Mingge is also a little ashamed of this. He understands Carnevale's family situation. Carnevale's parents died when he was very young. As the elder brother, he almost supported the difficult life of his family of seven by himself. Needless to say, he asked GM to lend him $50,000 to "emergency" for him, which must be because his family had difficulties in urgent need of solving.
Zhuang Mingge cannot make decisions about Carnevale's contract. What he can do is to help Carnevale get used to normal life as soon as possible after being released from prison. I hope the Qataris can be more generous and allow him to get more bonuses and wages.
After basically completing the matter of Carnevale, Zhuang Mingge was in a good mood. He finally achieved the "first goal" he set. The next goal basically only has "economic value" and does not have much added value. Zhuang Mingge can slowly convince him one by one.
A week has passed since visiting the prison. Zhuang Mingge received a call from Carnevale. During the call, Carnevale expressed his gratitude to Zhuang Mingge for his help, informed Zhuang Mingge that he had been released from prison on bail and signed a two-year, US$3 million contract with the Alsad Club in Qatar.
Zhuang Mingge congratulated Carnevalle on the phone. At the same time, he took the opportunity to invite Carnevalle to come to Florence to work as a scout after retirement. Carnevalle, who was worried that he could not repay Zhuang Mingge's "kindness", immediately agreed and said that he would write this article into a legal letter of intent to Florence in a few days.
At first, Zhuang Mingge didn't care too much when he heard this, but what he didn't expect was that just three days after this call, a letter of intent for employment, Carnevale Daming, was placed on his desk. This letter of intent was identified by "expert" Karin and had legal effect. If Carnevale breached the contract, he would be sentenced to at least three years in prison.
Zhuang Mingge held this letter of intention and pondered for a long time. Finally, he signed the letter of intention and added this sentence to the notes of the letter of intention:
As long as Andre Carnevale is unwilling to leave Florence, then Florence will hire Carnevale forever!
