Chapter 001 Dong Xi

1997, Beijing.

It was early spring, the weather was still very cold, and pedestrians on the street had not yet taken off their winter clothes.

Dong Xi wrapped himself in an old cotton-padded jacket and squatted in the corner, squinting at the hurried passers-by.

The old cotton-padded jacket I am wearing would have been considered novel and fashionable ten years ago, but this year, it would be considered an outdated item.

But even so, it can be seen that the original owner took great care of it and maintained it well.

Especially after this piece of clothing was snatched away by Dong Xi, the original owner looked sad when looking at Dong Xi's back.

No one would ignore the significance of this dress to the original owner. Oh, by the way, the original owner Dong Xi called him daddy!

Since I came to the capital from my hometown in Jiaodong three years ago, the only thing I have left that belongs to my hometown is this tattered cotton-padded jacket.

Dong Xi is twenty years old this year. He went to Beijing alone after finishing high school. He cannot be considered as having completed high school. Specifically, he was expelled because of fighting!

Of course, calling it a fight is just a way for the other party to whitewash their face. No matter how seven or eight people are pushed to the ground and beaten by one person, they can't afford to humiliate that person!

The county where Dong Xi's hometown is not big, but he has been a well-known figure since he was a child.

If nothing else, just look at that tall man of about 1.8 meters, coupled with the exaggerated muscles. In this day and age, not to mention one of a kind, there are not many talents in the country!

The sun was good today, and the place where Dong Xi was squatting was warmed by the sun.

On normal days, there would be at least four or five idle men gathering here, but at this time, Dong Xi was the only one.

It's not that the idlers are on a collective holiday today. They are all gathered in a dark corner not far away, huddled together like a group of chickens, looking at this place from a distance.

The corner where you can bask in the sun at this moment is no less than a single-family villa with sea view.

Dong Xi squinted his eyes and glanced at the idle man not far away. A vague smile appeared on the corner of his mouth, and he closed his eyes comfortably.

"Brother, good morning!" No one dared to come near this place, a slightly flattering voice sounded in Dong Xi's ears.

"Here you go, you arrived on time!" Dong Xi knew who it was without even opening his eyes.

This is a half-grown boy with a big head and a small body. He is thin and weak and looks malnourished.

He is a native of the capital city. He grew up without a father or a mother, and he grew up eating the food of hundreds of families. I don’t know his real name, Dong Xi, but everyone calls him Douyaer!

Because when he first came to the capital, Dou Ya'er helped him with a few favors. Now that Dong Xi has established himself, he has nothing to do to help him, and he can be regarded as half a follower.

The two of them don't live next to each other in their daily lives, but they occasionally meet at lunch.

"Let's go eat!" Dong Xi looked at the sky and saw that it was already noon.

As he spoke, Dong Xi stood up from the corner, his tall body revealing unlimited strength.

Even through the thick clothes, you can imagine what an explosive figure he has under the clothes.

Take this tattered cotton-padded jacket, it was originally a windbreaker type jacket, but it made him wear it like a tights.

The shoulders are extremely broad and can be used for horse racing, that is, this type.

The two gloves were in the sleeves and held in front of the chest. The bulging biceps filled the clothes without leaving any gaps.

If you look in one direction, you will be one meter away with one step of your long legs.

Dou Ya'er hurriedly followed up. Her already weak body looked even smaller against Dong Xi's tall figure, exuding a sense of poverty and sourness!

There are a lot of restaurants on the street these days, but most of them are unsophisticated fly restaurants that aim at large portions and affordable prices. Such delicate and clever things will not work in this area!

When I opened the door, the heat dissipated like a cloud. There was a lot of noise in the restaurant, and it was all big men.

Women rarely come to such places to eat, probably because they are afraid of appearing philistine!

The signature of this shop is the thin-skinned and stuffed large wontons in chicken soup, served with soft and delicious pancakes. In one word, it’s delicious!

Carbohydrate plus carbohydrate, life is no problem!

Just sit down at an empty seat and there will be no waiters to serve you.

Dou Ya'er ran to the kitchen door skillfully and shouted: "Three large bowls of wontons, and three kilograms of pancakes!"

The pancakes sold here don’t matter whether they’re sold by the piece or by the pound!

After a while, the charming proprietress walked over with three bowls of wontons in her arms.

"Xiao Dong, I haven't been here for a while! Have I forgotten you, Sister Zhang?" As soon as the landlady opened her mouth, there was a hint of coquettishness. When the boss in the kitchen not far away heard this, he raised his head and looked over, revealing

A simple and honest smile.

"No way, I've been a little busy lately!" Looking at the woman in front of him who was old enough to be half his mother, Dong Xi smiled reluctantly.

He knew in his heart that despite her coquettish appearance, this woman was actually an untouchable master.

"Haha, that's good!" After the boss lady said that, she twisted her big butt and walked back.

"My eyeballs fell out!" He hit Dou Ya'er on the head with his chopsticks.

"Hey!" Dou Ya'er, who was staring at the back of the boss lady, smiled sheepishly.

A young man of this age has basically zero resistance to such a mature woman. Of course, the premise is that he is eye-catching!

"Let's eat." After Dong Xi finished speaking, he looked at the wontons in front of him. In the clear soup in the ocean bowl, there were floating white shrimp skins, black seaweed and green chopped green onions.

The color combination is just right. Take a sip of the soup first to taste the saltiness.

I reached out and picked up the condiments on the table. When eating wontons, each family likes to add different condiments.

For example, Chen Xiaoer likes to add pepper noodles, while Dong Xi likes to add vinegar, preferably mature vinegar!

Then it would be even better to add some homemade chili oil. The hot and sour taste adds a special flavor to the wontons.

Pair it with steaming pancakes fresh out of the oven.

Crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside.

When you take a bite, the aroma of lard and the taste of chopped green onions hit your brain directly.

The fillings of the wontons are also very particular. They use shepherd's purse and pork fillings, which have the aroma of meat without appearing greasy.

Served with some free side dishes from the store, they are not good stuff, they are mostly cheap stuff like lumps and radish strips.

It's refreshing, but it's also delicious that complements each other.

Dong Xi didn't like to talk while eating, and concentrated on the two bowls of wontons in front of him. The two large bowls were much smaller against his body.

The bean sprouts on the side almost buried their heads in the bowl, and the scene was called a miutai.

Dong Xi raised his head and took a look, with a distressed expression in his eyes, but it disappeared immediately.

"Dong dong!" He stretched out his thick fingers and knocked on the table. Dou Ya'er immediately raised his head after hearing this.

"Hey!" Dou Ya'er grinned stupidly, perhaps aware of his own embarrassment.

"Go and cut some pig head meat from the other side!" Dong Xi reached out and took out 10 yuan from his pocket and handed it to Dou Ya'er.

"Okay!" Dou Ya'er quickly wiped her hands on her body, took the money and pushed the door open.

The cold wind blew in suddenly, causing the temperature in the room to drop sharply, and then warm up again in a blink of an eye.

Listening to the noise around him, Dong Xi squinted his eyes, took out a cigarette from the squashed cigarette case in his arms, and lit it with a "pop" sound.

Take a deep breath, let it go down your throat and pass through your lungs, and then spit it out with melancholy.

A trace of smoke spread across the air, flying towards the ceiling across the water vapor, and dissipated feebly halfway.

It seems as if it has left no trace of its existence in the world, just like the most natural cycle.

It was the early spring of 1997. Twenty-year-old Dong Xi was thinking seriously about a problem in a small restaurant in Beijing.
