Chapter 726 imax [Chapter Twelve]

As the 128-minute playback time ended, the cinema suddenly lit up, but many viewers were sitting in their original positions and still felt very excited in their hearts.

"Mr. Cameron, how do you feel?" Boss Huang asked with a smile to an energetic person beside him. This person is no one else, but one of the most famous directors, the director of the Titanic, James Cameron.

"A very good movie!" Cameron nodded, and said with some unsatisfactory words, "It has been nearly 20 years. I have recovered the kind of thrill I should have when I saw a superhero movie for the first time. This feeling hasn't appeared in 20 years!"

"This is a very excellent superhero movie, I like it very much!" James Cameron said. Although I don't know if this is sincere or a praising the billionaire of Boss Huang.

But with James Cameron's character, he may praise a mediocre work, but he will never praise a bad work, so Iron Man probably passed the exam.

"Hahaha, I hope so!" Boss Huang laughed and said to Cameron, "Sir Director, I think we can talk about Avatar!"

"This is exactly what I hope!" James Cameron showed a relaxed smile next to him. Originally, James Cameron would never have any contact with Boss Huang, the Chinese rich man.

Boss Huang himself did not expect that Cameron would come up by himself. But there is no way, who made Cameron short of money now?

Cameron is actually a very casual person, but also a very persistent person. After launching the magical film Titanic in 1997, many people thought that James Cameron would continue to make movies by borrowing the huge reputation he has gained.

As a result, Cameron was silent for three years. Three years later, in 2000, Cameron came up with his new work. What surprised everyone was that this work was not a movie, but a science fiction TV series called "The Dark Angel of the End of the World".

A top-notch movie, the director actually went to film a TV series. This feeling was like it was as difficult to understand if an emperor left the throne and ran to the copycat to be the leader of the big village.

And what is even more difficult to understand is that the quality of this "The Last Day Black Angel" is quite mediocre. You can't criticize him, but it is also difficult for you to find a place to praise him.

Of course, any ordinary director can praise you if he shoots such a TV series. After all, it is already a great thing for a TV series to be able to do without any complaints.

If the director of this TV series is James Cameron, then this would undoubtedly be a very nonsense.

After that, James Cameron fell into silence. Many people think that James Cameron might have spent all his talents on the Titanic, so this person has completely lost all his talents and plans to live in seclusion for life.

However, in fact, James Cameron has been doing various preliminary preparations for a movie in recent years, and this preparation took a full 5 years.

Some people may find it strange that no matter how much preparation work is for the movie, it will not take as long as 5 years. If it is some unknown young director, it would be understandable to spend a lot of time preparing for investment due to investment issues.

But a super director like James Cameron is definitely not lacking in any investment support. Why does he need to prepare for 5 years?

In Cameron's own words later, he has been waiting for the past five years to mature the photography technology, and this photography technology is imax.

After Avatar started shooting, Cameron still had to wait. He needed investment and construction of IMAX Cinema, otherwise there would be no cinema that could perfectly show his movie effects, so it took a full 12 years to wait.

It took 12 years to see Cameron's new movie from 1997 to 2009.

Back to the topic, since he said just now that James Cameron has no shortage of investment, why did he find Boss Huang again?

It's very simple, because Imax company is in the hands of Boss Huang.

In May this year, the famous Canadian film technology company announced it was in trouble due to operational problems, with a funding gap of up to hundreds of millions of dollars.

Boss Huang, who was still in Fusang at that time, directly controlled remotely, let his subordinates come to the door with $500 million and swallowed the IMAX company in one breath. So this company that has mastered all the MX technology patents fell into the hands of our Boss Huang at a very cheap price, and became one of the independently operated subsidiaries under Boss Huang.

In fact, the reason why Imax is in a financial dilemma is mainly because the new generation of Imax cameras they developed have problems, resulting in a large funding gap.

After receiving a large amount of financial support from Boss Huang, imax announced three days ago that the latest IMAX camera developed with 4D technology has been put into production and will be launched soon.

But most film companies don’t care about this news, because in their opinion, imax film technology is completely a technology with no use value.

It’s not that this technology is so bad. On the contrary, these bosses themselves admit that movies shot with IMAX technology are definitely the most outstanding movies with audio-visual senses.

But IMAX film technology has a shortcoming that is simply insurmountable, that is: expensive.

First of all, in terms of shooting, the price of an imax movie camera is as high as 5 million US dollars. It’s not that I max company is so obsessed with greed and sets the price of the camera so expensive.

Instead, an IMAX movie camera really requires such a high cost. Even the price of 5 million per unit is the cost price. It is a low price that the official has to offer in order to promote imax photography technology. Otherwise, no film commerce would invest huge amounts of money to buy such cameras.

After all, this is a camera that requires 8 people to cooperate just by operating. When shooting an IMAX movie, at least 4 such cameras are required to cooperate.

So the investment in cameras alone has reached an astonishing $20 million, not to mention that the $20 million camera requires 32 professional technicians, and the salary behind this is also hundreds of thousands of dollars.

But the cost of cameras is only part of it, and after the filming is finished, the cost of post-production is also huge.

First of all, because the photography technology and final presentation effect of the IMAX camera are completely different from traditional movie scenes, it needs specialized technicians to perform post-production.

In addition to the picture, the demand for sound, light and electricity is also completely new. Not only does it require more than three times the post-production manpower, but these people also have to undergo imax technology training in advance, otherwise they will not even be able to handle how to use special software to operate.

Finally, if the film company is willing to use huge sums of money to solve these two problems, then IMAX movies will still not be released because there is no cinema in the world that can support the release of imax movies.

At this moment in 2004, there was only one cinema in the world that could screen IMAX movies. This cinema was at the headquarters of Imax Company and was a cinema created by Imax Company itself.

Finally, even if Avatar was released in 2009, there were less than 100 IMAX theaters in the world in the true sense.

If only 100 theaters can play a movie, it means that Oscar directors around the world gather together to shoot a movie, and the box office of this movie will be at most a few million, and they will not be able to make back the capital.

Some people may refute it and say that this is wrong. Didn’t they already watch Avatar in the cinema? Isn’t this the IMAX movie I watched?

Alas, you are right, what you are watching is not an imax movie at all.

When the movie was released in 2009, there were only three cinemas in China, including the real IMAX, the Imperial Capital and the Magic City, and there was no other one.

Any viewer who thinks he has watched the IMAX version of Avatar is actually just watching the 3D version, that is, wearing three-D glasses, so that you can feel the effect of the subtitles. It is almost like this. 98% of Avatar viewers are watching the self-righteous imax version.

It is precisely because of these many reasons that capital is completely unfavorable to the company Imax. After all, no matter how advanced your film technology is, there are not many cinemas around the world that can play your movies. Then no director is willing to use such film technology, and your company is a worthless company.

Even though imax was actually established as early as 1970, and during this period, it launched more than 10 early versions of IMAX movies with experimental nature, the company was always losing money. The boss changed one after another and lost more than 1 billion US dollars, and never made any profit.

So when Boss Hua appeared in front of the boss of IMAX with $500 million, the boss of the company happily sold the company to Boss Huang, and then sighed that another fool had entered the game.

However, the boss didn't know that two months after the acquisition, the great director James Cameron came to the door and expressed his hope to get the full cooperation of IMAX to help him create a movie completely filmed by IMAX technology, namely Avatar.

Faced with James Cameron's initiative, Boss Huang did not agree immediately, but instead pulled James Cameron to watch the movie.

Originally, James Cameron thought that Boss Huang wanted to use his popularity to conduct marketing. Considering that the entire imax technology was in the hands of the other party, even if he was unhappy, he still agreed.

Unexpectedly, Boss Huang did not take him to the premiere ceremony at all, but entered the cinema from the backcourt, which prevented many reporters from finding James Cameron on the scene.

"Could this Chinese really don't want to use me to hype it, but just invite me to watch the movie?" James Cameron thought about it just now, and then he felt a flash flash at him. At the same time, a reporter shouted, "Cameron, it's Director Cameron! Director James Cameron sneaked to watch the movie!"

Then it instantly attracted the unanimous attention of all the reporters, or the audience. Everyone turned their excited eyes to Cameron, and at the same time wondered what the meaning of Cameron's appearance on the scene was. Could it be that he was very optimistic about this movie?

The news title on the second day will be available.
