Chapter 12 Equivalent Exchange

Pushing open the door, Bologo and Jeffrey walked out of Lebius's office, the door was closed, and only the two of them were left in the empty corridor.

Unlike the anxiety at the beginning, Bologo felt that he had gradually integrated into this place, at least this place was no longer so strange to him.

“‘Rupert Tail’ Special Operations Team…”

Bologo glanced at the badge in the palm of his hand and whispered in his mouth.

"To be honest, I'm starting to like my new boss."

Bologo said to Jeffrey.

He liked such a person, such a smart man, Lebius knew what Bologo needed, and did not mind reaching out to Bologo. Now Lebius longed for action more than a verbal conversation.

Eliminate the crooked and polite words, the two of them are like cold hunters, efficiently and briefly exchanging information about their prey.

There is no need to agree with any concept, all we need is consistency in the general direction.

As long as Belogo is willing to obey their order, it doesn't matter whether he is a debtor or a darker monster.

Bologo never thought that his job was so smooth. He thought he had to sign many terms and declare what to do if he swears again.

After thinking about this, Bologo's eyes quickly became gloomy after picking up the documents clamped under his armpit.

Enthusiasm.

Adele's death was related to "people-loving". Knowing that such information was enough for Bologo. Now he only needed to knock on the door with his weapons, smash the bones of those guys one by one, pull out their teeth, and pry out what he wanted from his sob breath.

"Are you guys alike?"

Jeffrey noticed the change in Bologo. He felt that the two of them had been together early in the morning, but he still felt a little uneasy when he saw this scene.

One is the "power-behind" who only cares about the result and does not care what methods are used in the process, the other is the undead with a fury of revenge. Two extremely paranoid guys gather together, which is really hard to reassure.

"When are you going to visit that unlucky guy?"

Jeffrey looked at the documents, which was considered the first task after Bologo joined the company.

"Go when you're ready."

Bologo said that his inner anxiety had been urging him, and his anger was waiting to vent. Bologo could hardly wait.

"It's hard to understand you guy...but so too, you are immortal. My cowardly body, it's a damn thing that can be understood."

Looking at Bologo's impatient appearance, Jeffrey could only sigh repeatedly.

"I couldn't stand the field's fight and killing, so I applied to be transferred to the logistics company," Jeffrey recalled, "You really love work, Bologo."

Bologo just smiled and said nothing.

There are many reasons why he loves this job. For Adele to take revenge and understand the truth of the extraordinary world. Another thing is that by killing demons, he can accumulate debris of his soul, and perhaps he can use this to fill his missing soul.

"But... I still hope you can think more about it. Although you think you are an expert, you are actually just a newcomer who has been on the job for a day, and you don't understand the dangers."

Jeffrey became serious and said seriously.

"But no matter how dangerous I am, I won't die, will I?" said Bologo.

The immortal body is currently the greatest reliance of Bologo. No matter how dangerous the environment is, it doesn't matter to him.

Jeffrey just sighed helplessly. He wanted to speak but stopped, and then said, "Forget it, if you have time, I'll take you to meet those 'idlers' again."

"Who?" asked Bologo.

Jeffrey did not continue to explain who the "idle" was, but instead said something else.

"Since that's the case, I'll introduce some related matters to you, such as your next task, and you may face more than just demons."

Bologo still has a lot of knowledge to learn, but Lebius is obviously not suitable to be a teacher. This job still needs to be completed by Jeffrey in the end, because he has done it many times, Jeffrey has already been able to do it.

"It's not just the demon...what else?"

As soon as he said that, Bologo suddenly remembered something and looked at Jeffrey with a look of joy.

"The Condenser."

Jeffrey spoke a strange and familiar word.

Bologo knew what "Ninghua" was, a means to condense the soul into an entity, but he had never heard of "Ninghua".

Looking at Bologo's confused look, Jeffrey pushed Bologo's body and signaled him to move forward.

"Let's go, it's time to have a meal, let's talk about it then."

...

"Are they leaving?"

Uriel pushed open the door, looked in sideways, and glanced at the room. Only Lebius was left in the office. He sat behind the desk and looked down at the documents in his hand.

"Um."

Lebius responded coldly, without looking up at Yuriel, but kept staring at the file, or the name on the file.

Belogo Lazarus.

"You seem to be really interested in him."

Uriel walked to Lebius's side. As Lebius's deputy, she knew very well what kind of person Lebius was, and she knew that no one had been so interested in Lebius for a long time.

"No, I'm not interested in him."

Lebius rejected Yuriel's words and frowned, as if thinking about something extremely important.

Uriel remained silent, standing aside and waiting for Lebius. She knew that she should not disturb Lebius's thinking at this time.

After several minutes, Lebius let out a long sigh, put down the document in his hand, leaned on his head, and rubbed his temples hard.

Almost about to speak, Lebius remained silent, and finally he asked with a little hesitation.

"Yuli, have you seen those people from the 'The Undead Club'?"

Undead Club.

When Uriel heard this word, he seemed a little confused, but he thought of something vaguely, and there was a warning in his eyes.

Looking at Uriel's reaction, Lebius smiled self-deprecatingly and shook his head helplessly.

"Yes, how could you meet those people? But you must have heard of them."

Lebius gritted his teeth, his words filled with disgust for those people.

"A group of monsters who don't know how long they have lived and no longer have 'desire'. In order to make their dead mood fluctuate, they always do some crazy things to do so to have fun."

Lebius hated the undead very much. They were the most idle people in Opus, so within the Order Bureau, people often called those guys "idle". Many times, the troubles of the Order Bureau are caused by this "idle person" for fun.

"I have seen those undead, like Bologo, receive the gift of immortality from the hands of the devil, but their immortality is flawed, a 'twisted wish'."

"What do you... want to say?" Uriel didn't understand.

“Equivalent exchange.

All transactions with the devil are absolutely equivalent exchanges between ‘value’ and ‘value’, even if the debtor is sympathetic to the devil.”

Lebius recalled that the undead had lived too long and had a weird personality, and Lebius had dealt with them very few times.

"If the wisher cannot pay the price required for making a wish, the transaction will fail... but the transaction can also be enforced. If it can be enforced, the transaction will be ‘corrected’."

Uriel's face changed slightly, and she knew the part about the "correction", or the "despoken wish".

"Yes, just like a fair transaction, the buyer cannot pay enough value, then the goods sold by the seller will have corresponding 'degradation'."

Lebius whispered.

"Those 'idlers' cannot pay the high price. Their immortality has been distorted. Even the immortality of the 'Villes' family' needs to be repaid with the endless future of the family."

Lebius looked at Yuriel and he questioned.

"Didn't you find the doubts yet?"

Uriel's eyes were stiff. As early as Lebius's story, she realized that the information she brought afterwards was too terrible.

"Berlogo Lazarus...his wish, his immortality was not twisted, and the near-perfect 'immortal body'," Yuriel's pupils shrank, and his words trembled, "What price did he pay?"

What kind of "value" did Belogo Lazarus pay for such a perfect "gift"?

"I don't know, I'm afraid even Bologo himself doesn't know. I even doubt he is really capable of paying such a price?"

Lebius pondered and said affirmatively.

"I checked Bologo's information, from the time he was born to the time he was taken into custody by the Order Bureau, I can be sure that he has absolutely no ability to pay such a high price."

"Then what you mean is..." Uriel didn't dare to continue thinking.

"The problem is not with Bologo, but with the guy who gave him immortality."

This is a terrifying conclusion, but it is also the only reasonable result currently inferred.

Lebius stated as calmly as possible.

"Ten Ul coins can be exchanged for things worth ten Ul coins, but Bologo exchanged for things worth ten and hundreds of Ul coins...

It is the devil, the devil who traded with Bologo, it gave Bologo an "immortal body" and it is also willing to make such a loss-making deal.

So why?"

Lebius murmured to himself.

"Why did that devil make such a deal?"

He couldn't think of why the devil made such a decision and what was its purpose?

After pondering for a long time, Lebius's eyes became sharper again.

"I want to talk to the minister."
