One two six, turmoil

The July offensive launched by the Russian Provisional Government resulted in a crushing defeat, followed by a fierce counterattack from the German and Austrian coalition forces. When the Russian army launched an attack, they happened to run head-on to run with the German and Austrian coalition forces that were also ready to attack. This offensive battle was doomed to an end before it began.

In Ukraine and eastern Belarus, the muddy roads in summer were everywhere. Russian troops collapsed one after another, and a large number of exhausted Russian troops directly chose to surrender rather than escape. The Russian troops were retreating desperately. They ignored the commands of the officers and were going crazy, robbed various means of transportation in order to escape eastward and towards their hometown. The officers who tried to stop them were also shot and killed by these soldiers who were covered with primitive survival. Even the Soldiers Committee could not stop anything.

The offense organized by the Provisional Government organization was a rush and failed, and it was a crushing defeat.

More and more soldiers turned to the Social Revolutionary Labor Party that called for and publicized the immediate end of the war. Prince Liwoff announced his resignation and his government fell. Kerensky became the new head of the interim government and served as the Minister of the Army and Navy, but he was simply unable to stop the situation from deteriorating. Brusilov was removed from his post and Kornilov was appointed as the supreme commander of the Russian army on the front line. He was ordered to transfer troops from the collapsed front line and go to Petrograd to suppress the Soviet regime led by the Social Labor Party and the workers' armed forces of the Pro-Social Labor Party.

Kerensky used the soldiers' patriotic enthusiasm to accuse the leader of the Social Labor Party Ulyanov of being a spy sent by Germany and also presented "evidence" to the neutral garrison troops where they got it. These evidences showed that the failure of the front-line Russian army was all because the Social Labor Party was making trouble behind the scenes and betraying Russia.

The teams recruited by the Provisional Government from the front arrived in Petrograd one after another and began to suppress and purge the Social-Depth Labor Party. The Provisional Government issued an announcement that Umiyanov was declared a German spy, and then issued an order to arrest Ulyanov, Zinoviev, and Kamenev, the Executive Committee of the Russian Social-Labor Party Central Committee. The army and counter-espionage agencies checked passes on the streets and arrested people everywhere.

But this could not save Russia. The Social-DPP moved underground and began to plan to overthrow the Provisional Government by force and seize power with armed force. Due to France's defeat, Russia faced much more severe situations. Many troops did not obey the orders of the Provisional Government at all. The Social-DPP was even conducting activities to overthrow the Provisional Government openly.

As time entered September, the weather gradually cooled down, and the offensive of the German and Austrian coalition slowed down.

In nearly a month of pursuit, the German and Austrian coalition forces have pushed the front line forward to the border between Estonia, Belarus and Ukraine and Russia, and the entire Russia faces the collapse of the former country. If it were not for its own logistics and supply issues, no one would have suspected that the Germans and Austrians had now reached the city of Petrograd and Moscow. The Russians would soon withdraw from the war, and among the United States and Britain, they began to feel pessimistic and disappointed about the future of the war.

"Petrograd is now like a powder barrel, and a new revolution may break out at any time!"

The Austro-Hungarian intelligence department's judgment is not bad at all. Now the Socialist Migrant Workers are fanning the flames everywhere, inciting workers and soldiers to overthrow the "provisional government representing the bourgeoisie."

General Kornilov tried to use a coup to overthrow the Provisional Government and achieve a new military victory at home to change the current chaos in Russia. But the general's attempt failed, and the new commander-in-chief of the army and his colleagues were arrested. But Kerensky was no longer able to solve the problem, and there were only two ways out: either Kornilov or Ulyanov. But Kerensky solved the trouble for the Social Diplomatic Labor Party.

Kornilov's march towards Petrograd made the workers' pickets and the Red Guards controlled by the Socialist Militant Labor Party a legal armed organization. The Soviet regime was gradually controlled by the Bolsheviks, and Kerensky's interim government could no longer control the situation.

On September 21, 1917 (August 9, Russian calendar), at 9:25 pm, the cruiser "Avle" anchored on the Neva River fired three empty-packet bombs indicating an offensive signal into the sky. After the cannon sounded, the Petrograd engineer riot led by Trosky began to overthrow the instant government.

The sailors and workers' Red Guards under the leadership of the Socialist Militant Labor Party began to launch a full-scale attack on the Hermitage Palace, where the provisional government was located. The Guards, who were responsible for defending the Hermitage Palace, remained neutral and watched the fun on the side. Only less than one company of non-commissioned officers fought back outside the Hermitage Palace.

Soon they were defeated, and the sailors and workers rushed into the Hermitage. Kerensky escaped from Petrograd, and the ministers of the Provisional Government and members of the Duma were arrested and sent to Paul's Fortress under the supervision of the Red Guards.

Denikin, Chief of Staff Markov and their 8th Army were sent to Rostov by the Austrians, and together with them were General Vanovsky, General Elgery, Commander of the Special Corps, and some officers and soldiers of the Special Corps.

They began to follow the agreement to lead the troops to march towards Georgia.

The weather in autumn looks very warm, the leaves begin to turn yellow, migratory birds in the north begin to migrate south, and the sky is filled with the sad and sad sound of geese.

The news of the "August Revolution" broke out in Petrograd only reached the mountainous areas of the Caucasus at the end of the month.

Denikin summoned his senior generals to discuss the situation he faced with General Elgerly. Chief of Staff Markov had been in contact with General Karekin, the commander of the Don Front Army in the telegraph room. The annoying negotiations were intermittent and continued until late at night, and no one could figure out the situation or make up his mind.

"It is obvious that the Social-DPP has claimed to have overthrew the Provisional Government and all power is handed over to the Soviets, to the workers and farmers." Denikin said, "What we are going to discuss now is to continue to fight against the Turks in the Caucasus or to return home to overthrow the Social-Labor regime."

"What's the use, now most workers and soldiers are inclined to the Social Labor Party, and they promised to withdraw from the war soon, which is exactly what the people hope for." Vanovsky said, "I heard that Karekin released General Kornilov?"

"But what's the use? There is no one under Kornilov." General Elgeri was not ready to obey the Soviet orders, and strongly advocated going to Georgia first to make a quiet change and then take a look at the limelight first.

"What's the use of killing each other when returning to China? Let's follow the agreement and defend the Caucasus!" Markov came back from the telegram room and shrugged. The country is now in chaos. General Du Hening proclaimed himself the supreme commander and demanded the restoration of the Duma election, which was against the Soviet regime.

Denikin wanted to return to the country, but after hesitating for a while, he gave up. The entire legion continued to cross the Caucasus Mountains and enter Georgia.
