135, Raid on New York (4)

About one minute and twenty seconds later, Major Hadergen saw from the periscope that two huge fireballs rose from the sea, and the sea surface in the distance became much brighter in an instant. Even more than 2,000 meters away, the submarine still felt the huge shock waves generated by the explosion and kept swaying in the sea.

Hadergen was turning his periscope and turning it towards other targets, but he saw another big explosion in the freighter at the door. A fireball dozens of times larger than the fire ball that had previously exploded rose from the middle of the hull and rushed straight into the sky, forming a huge mushroom cloud.

"Oh my god, we'll hit an arms ship!" Lieutenant Este shouted, and the crew members were excited and cheered.

Hadergen ordered the broken wreck to be thrown away and to turn the bow to chase the largest tanker, the biggest target they have seen so far.

"Sir, there are people in the sea. Will I not pay for rescue?" said Lieutenant Este.

"If it weren't for the American bomber that bombed the submarine we were saving people not long ago, I wouldn't mind surfaced to rescue those poor people who fell into the water. Unfortunately, the submarine command now ordered that the submarines be banned from carrying out rescue during combat." Hadergen said that after the German submarine u-147 was sinking an enemy ship, the German submarine was rescuing the British crew who fell into the water. However, an American anti-submarine aircraft attacked the U-147 regardless of the Red Cross flag flying on the German submarine. After receiving the news, Denitz was furious and ordered that the submarines should not carry out any humanitarian rescue operations in the future.

The u-400 just turned the bow, but saw the two freighters that were accelerating their escape, and they also blew up smoke and fire. It was obvious that they were also hit by other submarines of the 101st Squadron. This is the benefit of implementing the "wolf pack" tactic. The enemy's transport ship was a disaster after falling into the ambush circle of the "wolf pack".

"Okay, we must sail south immediately now. Leave here, and the enemy planes will arrive here soon!" Major Hadergen issued an order to other submarines through a radio telephone. The entire submarine squadron threw the enemy ships struggling on the sea and the sailors who fell into the water and left without caring about it.

The result of this ambush was really good. Three large ships were sunk in one breath, and the submarine was filled with the pleasure of winning, as if they had just won a football match.

At this time, the sky was already bright, and Hadergen saw through the periscope the appearance of the tanker and the flag on its mast. It was an unlucky American ship!

In the next three days, the 101st Submarine formation sank two American cargo ships in the waters near Boston. Afterwards, Hadergan directed the entire formation to sail southwest and arrived near New York in the early morning.

New York is the most important economic and commercial center in North America, and one of the only megacity cities in the world with a population of more than 5 million. As the economic center of the world's largest industrial country, New York has the most prosperous city, the most modern bus system and the most enviable skyscrapers. In order to avoid the disaster of war, many European nobles, wealthy businessmen and talents from all walks of life immigrated to this modern city, which made New York a super city that stands out in the war.

It's getting dawn.

There was light snow on the sea surface, and No. u-400 circled left and right among the gray waves caused by the sea breeze, shaking and shaking forward at a speed of five nautical miles per hour.

Major Hadergen was sitting on a chair in the restaurant, drinking coffee leisurely, waiting for the arrival of dark combat moments. Lieutenant Este got off the post from the central control room on duty and came to the restaurant in the upper part of the battery compartment at the rear of the submarine. He saw Deputy Captain Kahn holding a inferior cigar in his right hand, looking at a navigation map.

"Hi. Good morning!" Este was greeting Major Hadergen, who was leaning his head up against the back of the chair and didn't know what he was thinking, but just hunched in his throat, as if he agreed.

"Come onion, put two more onions in the meat, Eric." He said to the chef. "Maybe the bread has been kept for too long, and there is always a moldy smell."

"I stayed in the submarine for a long time, and any food I saw on the shore was delicious." Captain Kahn put down the map in his hand and said to Este.

Este looked over the navigation chart with his eyes slanted. New York City was like a sweet date sandwiched between several islands. There were two channels on the port leading to the outside ocean. One was through the Long Island Strait and the other was through the Lower New York Bay to the south. According to the plan, the 101st Squadron would lurk near the exit of the Long Island Strait.

"Captain, have you heard of the new tactics that the Chinese used in the Pacific?"

"What's wrong?" Captain Kahn didn't know what he was talking about.

"They used rocket launchers on submarines to attack several Japanese ports, much like the actions taken by surface attack ships." Este stretched out a finger and took a quick stroke along the map. "They used to approach the enemy's ports in the night and then used artillery to attack the enemy's ports, which achieved very good results."

Kahn turned his bearded face to Este, with a strange sneer on his lips, and said, "Oh, Lieutenant, are you dreaming of getting a new promotion? I don't think we can have a chance to attack the Americans' tightly defended port."

"But the Americans' port guards are very relaxed!" Este said, picking up the bread on the table and taking a big bite.

"It makes sense, we may be able to take a risk to try it!" Major Hadergen suddenly opened his eyes, "Hasler, go to my room to bring the coastal navigation booklet," he said to the communications soldier standing in the passage.

Woo-Wow! Woowow! Woowow!

At this time, the combat sirens in the submarine suddenly sounded.

"What's going on?" Major Hadergen quickly passed through the passage and returned to the command room.

"The radar found a low-flying enemy plane, maybe just a seagull." said Sergeant Chaseler, the commander of the enforcer on duty. "The plane flew very low, we need to dive!" He said while putting away his periscope.

"Okay, we're diving to 30 meters now and keeping our current course!" Hadergen said, "The sun is coming out anyway, and we need to stay under the water for a day!"

"Yes, sir!" Chaisler agreed.

Communications soldier Hasler was staggeringly walking through the passage ahead. Hadergen took the "American Coast Navigation Manual" from him and returned to the restaurant.

"I'm going to give it a try!" He put the navigation manual on the dining table and said to Lieutenant Este.

“What to try?”

"You have an idea. Last month, the Americans sent their bombers to air strike on Berlin, which made the emperor furious and ordered the newly formed strategic bomber troops to bomb the United States. Unfortunately, General Udett said that our bombers could not fly to the United States, and the Americans took off from Britain." Hadergen said that the British and American bombers began to carry out night bombings in Germany. Although the losses were heavy and minimally achieved, they did throw some bombs in German cities, especially last month, sixteen American and British bombers attacked Berlin. Although the enemy eventually lost nine bombers, it did make William II angry.

Now, the time for revenge on the Americans is coming, and this may be a time to make a name for itself.

Hadergan made up his mind and began to carefully study the charts and navigation directions. He was preparing to float out of the sea and use the large-caliber rocket launcher equipped on the submarine to carry out a retaliation against the United States.
