Chapter 65: The Flames of Fire (2)(1/2)

The conflict between the Venetta Army system and the Navy system has been around for a long time. The "golden hat brim" and "big leather boots" that are always high and are red in the city hall, which is a scene of blue sea.

In a sense, the entire Venetta Republic has been through thirty years without any danger in this kind of guild-like noisy.

As the saying goes: The opponent is longer than the friend. Over the years, army officers and naval officers have become accustomed to the atmosphere of contempt and competing with each other. Under the principle of fighting without breaking, some tacit cooperation can be performed occasionally.

But in the last three years, the hostility between the Army and the Navy has reached a new peak.

In the 558th year of the imperial calendar, after Consul de Bella announced that "the war of conquest of Taniria has been completely victorious."

The Navy and Maritime Trade Committee of the Republic of Veneta (hereinafter referred to as the Maritime Committee) ignored the huge waves of criticism and opposition, and forced the five-man parliament to pass the plan to form the third "Grand Fleet" in the province of Taniria.

Immediately afterwards, the Maritime Commission forcibly promoted the amazing "Republic's 28th Naval Arms Supplementary Plan" to pass the first and second instances at its annual budget preparation meeting.

In the final public vote, participants from the Third Legion voted decisively with representatives of the Army system unanimously opposing the vote.

The dispute between "slow-building ships" and "urgent-building ships" has come to an end.

The rapid reconstruction of naval power at all costs has become the guiding program at the national level of Veneta.

In the Navy, the addition of a new main fleet is equivalent to a large number of vacancies overnight.

A large number of naval intern officers and low-level officers who had been on the deck for many years were finally waiting for the dawn, and naturally there was a jubilation.

As for the army, as the supervising government issued a huge amount of bonds to raise shipbuilding funds, the army's military expenditure will shrink significantly in the next few years and even decades, the dissatisfaction and resentment that arises in the army can be imagined.

The "betrayal" of the Third Legion has also made many army officers still feel resentful.

In order to enable the Tanirian fleet, which only exists on paper, to form combat power as soon as possible - to calm public anger - the drafter and promoter of the new fleet plan, the commander of the high-powered Inland Fleet [Renero de Narezo] voluntarily resigned.

Admiral Narezo left the center of power, exiled himself to the Tanirian Islands, and became the "bare commander" of the newly established large fleet.

The former deputy commander of the Inner Sea Fleet [Martino Dandolo] was replaced in the ranking and promoted to the commander of the Inner Sea Fleet and Admiral.

In other words, Martino Dandolo's appearance at the Army Headquarters means that for the first time since the completion of the "Palace", a high-ranking naval officer at the level of fleet commander has been visited.

It has been three years since the last time the naval officer stepped into the "palace".

The last time—the eve of the Tanirian War—the Military Commission held a meeting at the Army Headquarters. The Navy Command sent four brigade generals to participate. General Zio ordered the opening of the "Third Hall" to show sincerity.

This time, the higher-level Admiral Dandolo came to visit, but was not invited to the luxuriously decorated conference room on the fourth floor of the Army Headquarters. Instead, the Army Colonel who was in charge of the reception was led straight to the stairwell leading to the underground building.

[Vetor Pisani] Although he was confused, he did not ask questions.

As the captain with the least qualifications among the three, and as a "Pisani" with a glorious surname, Vetor cannot be even more frightened.

So Vetor shrugged and followed the Army Colonel into the underground of the "Palace" with a smile.

Passing through the triple access control, walking down two stairs, and passing through a dark and wet corridor, the Army Colonel took the three visitors to the door of a basement.

The colonel opened the heavy wooden door nailed with felt and iron, and the strong herbal smell immediately poured out, which made Vetor cough.

He turned to look at Captain Thier and Commander Dandolo, and they both frowned.

When the oak door was completely opened by the Army Colonel, a room was brought into Vetor's eyes.

At the far end of the room, six rows of sealed filing cabinets used to store important documents are placed on the wall. In the small space between the filing cabinet and the door, a simple table that is not much larger than the door panel was temporarily set up.

An old man with white hair and majestic demeanor was sitting upright behind the table, closing his eyes to rest.

A burly and terrifying-looking man, the big-sized golden sword, sat on the old man's left hand, fiddling with the ring impatiently.

The buttons of the man's top had been unbuttoned to his chest, revealing his lush hair, but he was still about to break his military uniform.

When the door was opened, he just glanced at the four people outside the door coldly, and then continued to turn the "Great Alliance Ring" on his knuckles.

Another middle-aged man sitting on his right hand was flipping through the papers on the table.

After the door opened, the middle-aged man put down the file in his hand and smiled at the three people outside the door.

The Army Colonel who did not have to be responsible for the reception also recognized who the three people in front of him were:

The old man sitting in the middle is the governor, one of the five members of the parliament, the Army General [Carlo Zio]; the strong man on Carlo Zio's left hand is the Army Major General [Roster Layton] who became famous in the Taniria Conquest War; the middle-aged general on Carlo Zio's right hand is the commander of the Fourth "Filencia" Legion, the Army Major General [Jacob de Barr].

Compared to the three generals of the army, the fourth army officer sitting on the edge of a simple table attracted more attention from Vetor - because the man was wearing a school officer's uniform.

Compared to the chairs under the generals, the school official had only a bench under his butt. His hands were stiff on his knees, his shoulders were tightened on both sides, and his expression was more cramped than uneasy.

Seeing Vetor Pisani and others outside the door, the school official breathed a sigh of relief and his shoulders relaxed a little.

Since the commander of the "Filengcui" appeared in the room, Vetor speculated that the school officer should be the representative of General Antonio Serbiati, the commander of the "Grand Vinetta".

But now is not a good time to ask questions.

The Army Colonel, who was responsible for the reception, raised his hand to salute the generals in the basement and stopped outside the door.

Naturally, Vetor would not be moved by the army's formation. He smiled and glanced at the two fellow travelers and walked into the room.

The heavy oak doors closed again, isolating all sounds.

Vetor Pisani threw the triangle hat on the table, and while pulling out the seats for the two older companions, he asked leisurely: "I asked us to come to the Army Headquarters, and we were asked to wear casual clothes, but I sent a team of such eye-catching cavalry escorts? I am a respectable army colleague, and I always make people confused when doing things."

The three generals of the army frowned. The school officer who was sitting next to him, whose shoulders had just been lowered, unconsciously shrank.

"The reason why I forced you to come here is that it is really hard to say."

Major General Barr responded politely, putting the document at hand back into the file box and then pushing the wooden box to the three naval officers:

"Because of these - the documents we want to show you, have the highest level of confidentiality. According to the Army Confidentiality Ordinance, they cannot be viewed outside this archive room, nor can they be discussed outside the archive room. To be honest, even within the Army, there are only a handful of people who can enter the archive room, and there are only a few officers who know the contents of these documents. Being able to step into this archive room means that we have shown great sincerity."

Vetor raised his eyebrows and was about to speak, but Captain Thier, who was sitting on the other side, spoke first.

Lorenzo Thier didn't look at the wooden box at all. He stared at the three army generals in front of him and asked coldly: "Speak so much nonsense, don't you want to show it to us in the end?"

As soon as this said, Rost Leiden, who was already angry, finally couldn't bear it anymore and slapped the table: "You may be used to being kings on the ship! But our army has rules and systems!"

Vetor Pisani immediately retorted: "It turns out that the rule of the army is to butter on fat pork and mix mud into the shit?"

"[Vulgar words]!" Leiden was furious.

Vetor is not to be outdone: "[The vulgar words of the old version]!"

"Okay!" General Zio shouted with anger, "Don't embarrass you!"

The people in the archives were almost shattered by the eardrums. It is hard to imagine such a loud sound from an old man who was so slim.

Layton grinded his teeth hard, straightened the kicked chair, and sat down angrily.

"Make your safety." Carlo Zio said concisely: "It was Antonio's request."

"That's right." The school official on the side echoed in a low voice: "Lieutenant General Serbiati attaches great importance to your safety. The cavalry escorted you are also the cavalry of the Third Legion."

Thier narrowed his eyes and looked at the school officer.

"This is Colonel Sebastian Vobon." Major General Barr took the initiative to introduce to the naval officers: "General Serbiati's representative. All respectable naval colleagues can meet us honestly, and General Serbiati's contribution is important."

"We are willing to come to your 'palace'." Vetor Pisani snorted: "It is not because of Antonio Serbiati, but because of the face of His Excellency Narezo."

Jacob de Barr said meaningfully: "It seems that we have some 'pacifists' between each other, don't we?"

The major general bit the pronunciation of "pacifist" very heavily, which caused another major general next to him, Rost Leiden, to snort coldly.

"Finish what you should do first." General Zio stopped the verbal slap in the archives with one sentence.

Vetor Pisani and Captain Thier exchanged glances, and Vetor finally took the file box and distributed the documents to his colleagues.

The Army's top secret documents, each of which is bound in heavy cardboard.

The cover only contains the number and the secret level. After opening, the first page says the transceiver and receiver, the second page is the overview of the content, and then the back is the original sticking to the paper.

The first file that Vetor successfully caught his attention when he got it.

The overview of the second page shows that the archives are about the routine winter hunting ceremony of the Imperial Royal Family on the Castile Peninsula last winter.

Turning back, there are three originals in total, all of which are handwritten in sloppy handwriting.

The first original is a record of hunting by members of the Imperial Royal Family during winter hunting; the second original is a bill for the Imperial Royal Palace to consume alcohol, meat and flour during winter hunting; the third original is the shortest, but it records Henry Lieyang IV's eating habits and behavioral performance during his stay in the Castile Peninsula.

Considering that the survival of the empire and the fate of the alliance depended heavily on the life and health of Henry IV, this information is extremely precious.

Vetor was disappointed to find that the pseudo-emperor's physical condition still showed no sign of any problems.

During the Castile Winter Hunt, the personal hunts of the pseudo-Emperor included two deer, a bear, and several foxes and wild boars.

According to the report, the pseudo-emperor only slept for six hours a day, and would get up at dawn, run, ride horses, practice swordsmanship, and then handle official duties. At noon, he took turns having lunch with the princes of Castile, received petitioners in the afternoon, continued to handle official duties in the evening, and finally went to bed. During the winter hunting period, this was the case every day.

The fake emperor did not have any entertainment other than public activities and did not drink alcohol unless necessary. Even the writer of the report was amazed at the fake emperor's seemingly exhausted energy and superhuman efficiency.

The only content in the archive that made Vetor feel a little joy is the record of the nightlife of the pseudo-Emperor.

According to the reporter's records, except for handling official duties, the pseudo-emperor had no nightlife. He did not sleep with the queen, at least not once during the winter hunting.

Vetor couldn't help but raise his mouth. He turned back to the first page, wanting to see who was observing the daily routine of the imperial family so close, but he only saw a code name - "Cat".

He shook his head, put the file in front of Admiral Dandoro, and then took out another file from the box.

This chapter is not over, please click on the next page to continue reading! Turn the cover and just swept the first line of text, Vetor's eyebrows immediately frowned.

The second file he obtained was a statistical report.

A statistical report on the "Log Logging Permit" issued by the Governor's Office in the Northern Territory of the Empire.

Six years ago, a fierce battle broke out between the Royal Navy and the Fleman fleet in the Far East Sea. The sea water changed color and the wreckage of the ship burned for a whole day and night.

This time, the Royal Navy washed away the shame of thirty years ago, destroyed the Sultan's fleet in one fell swoop, and successfully recovered Rhode Island.
