Chapter 229 International shock! Small research? Qiu Chengwen: I will(1/2)

 Never trust him again!
CERN is located in Switzerland on the western border of Geneva.
This is the world's largest particle physics laboratory and the birthplace of the World Wide Web. Its main research content is matter such as its composition and the forces between matter.
As the world's largest particle physics laboratory, the Nuclear Research Organization is naturally very large, with more than 3,000 full-time employees employed by the Nuclear Research Organization.
About 6,500 scientists and engineers from 80 nationalities around the world, representing more than 500 universities and institutions, conduct experiments at the Nuclear Weapon Organization.
It can be said that CERN occupies half of the particle physics circle.
In recent years, the Nuclear Organization has been upgrading equipment and building a new collider, with a total investment of more than 20 billion US dollars.
After upgrading the equipment, they conducted a test experiment for the first time.
The test experiment is not a formal experiment, and the intensity of the experiment is naturally not as strong as the formal experiment. However, because the equipment has been significantly upgraded, even the test experiment is still much more intense than before.
The test experiment is expected to increase the brightness by more than four times than before.
The main purpose of this experiment is to create more Higgs bosons to detect some properties of the decay of the 'God particle'.
Although it is just a test experiment, it still attracted research teams from more than 30 countries around the world. Domestic teams of more than 20 people were also sent to participate, led by Ruan Hui, a well-known domestic quantum physics expert.
After conducting the test experiment, the arriving team analyzed the experimental data together. They hope to discover more new particles through analysis, or make other new physical discoveries, so that they can continue to supplement relevant theories to improve the standard model of particles.
This is the main research direction.
After completing a series of initial data analysis work, the ATLAS experimental team released information related to the latest experiment. Their most important achievement is the discovery of more signal reactions of the Higgs boson.
At the same time, they also made some other small discoveries. For example, they found that there was a strange phenomenon suspected of being a 'data gap' in the energy range of 90GeV~270GeV.
This is just one of the discoveries.
In an interview with reporters, CERN external spokesperson Chris Tesori explained the content released by the experiment.
He also specifically explained the phenomenon of 'data gaps', "This discovery may be due to some undiscovered phenomenon in that energy range. Of course, the greater probability is that it is an experimental error or is affected by new equipment. We will follow up.
I will do detailed research.”
"What we need to do now is publish all the new findings."
"Our research cannot let go of any possibility. Even if there is only a probability of one in a thousand or one in ten thousand, we must study it seriously..."
Chris Tesori said this to reporters, but in fact, no one cares about the "data gap" in the energy range.
One reason is that many influencing factors may cause this problem.
In addition, their experiments are much more intensive than they were a few years ago, and the data they generate has become very large.
There are gaps in the data in some energy intervals, which may also be normal data fluctuations.
Most importantly, they discovered more Siggs boson signals.
This is the most important result.

Professor Ruan Hui from the Domestic Academy of Sciences led a team to participate in the project, and their assigned task was to calculate part of the data in Area C.
After completing the mathematical calculations, they did not participate in the follow-up work.
Ruan Hui attended the final demonstration meeting and reviewed several reports from the meeting, but because he was not a core participant, he did not know what the conclusions were, and he only heard some news.
After the ATLAS experimental team released new experimental results, Ruan Hui learned that there was a discovery that might be an experimental error. He didn't pay attention to it at first. After finishing the meeting and returning to the work office, he suddenly thought of seeing Wang Hao some time ago.
A piece of content on a blog.
At that time, he read it carefully and felt that the content was a bit strange.
After deriving the Yang-Mills equation, we got the strange phenomenon that there will be data gaps in a certain energy range?
Ruan Hui couldn't understand.
Now I suddenly thought of it again, so I quickly checked Wang Hao's blog, and then compared it with the information released by the ATLAS experimental team.
Wang Hao concluded that "some abnormal problems may be detected in the energy range of 85GeV~260GeV, and the abnormalities may be data gaps."
The information released by the ATLAS experimental team is, "There is a strange phenomenon suspected of being a 'data gap' in the energy range of 90GeV~270GeV."
The important thing is that Wang Hao released it about twenty days in advance, and the test experiment was just about to begin at that time.
Ruan Hui was shocked when he compared it.
He looked at the two pieces of information on the computer screen, and it took him a long time to react and take a deep breath. "In other words, Wang Hao knew the problem of the 85GeV~260GeV energy range through calculation and analysis?"
“And then published the content on the blog?”
Ruan Hui was silent for a long time, not knowing what to do specifically, so he simply took a screenshot of the content and posted it in the joint team's work group.

There are many working group leaders like Ruan in the working group of the joint group.
They also include important leaders of CERN, such as Rabinovich, Lamont, Peter Janis, etc.
Seeing the information posted by Ruan Hui, everyone in the work group was immediately shocked.
Professor Rabinovich from Israel asked with confusion, "Ruan, you didn't use those weird P-picture software, right?"
Ruan Hui replied, "I never joke about this kind of thing. You can check Wang Hao's blog, which is a famous website in China."
The group suddenly became lively -
"I just went to read it. Twenty days ago, Dr. Wang Hao published such an article. It was written in Chinese, but I used software to translate it. The content is the same as what Ruan said."
"I also went to see it, and it is indeed the case. Also, let me say something special, I can understand Chinese."
"Beers, stop messing with your poor Chinese. The important thing now is that the results of our experiment were predicted, and the prediction was very accurate!"
"Although I didn't know it before, we seem to have verified a very important research..."
"Indeed it is!"
"Could it be that the Chinese website got the time wrong? Or is there a possibility that I can go to the website and change the time?"
"This is possible, but I also found a report from Amrican Media, which was also from 20 days ago. They reprinted the content released by Dr. Wang Hao..."
"You don't even need to search specifically. You all should know that Dr. Wang Hao is very popular, and the best academic media will pay attention to his blog..."
After a series of discussions, things were quickly settled.
Many people were shocked.
This was a particle collision experiment. The conclusion they reached through a series of data analysis was actually predicted in advance by a mathematician eight hours away?
The work of thousands of them turned into helping each other to confirm research...
It’s quite depressing when I think about it!
At the same time, many people became very excited.
If it is not a coincidence with a probability of one in ten thousand, then it is certain that the phenomenon of ‘data gap’ is definitely a big discovery.

Discussions in the joint group's working group were not spread.
In fact, there was no need for anyone to say anything in particular, because the news was released directly, and soon someone combined the content released by Wang Hao with the experimental results released by the ATLAS experimental team.
The first person to report was an Italian media, and the reporter was Bruches.
Bruches had previously reprinted a blog post posted by Wang Hao, and was worried that readers would not understand it, so he translated it carefully.
But, it's a pity.
The blog articles published by Wang Hao also received no attention in Italy. Scholars felt that the content was very illusory and had no practical value.
Now that he saw the information released by the ATLAS experimental team, he immediately thought of Wang Hao's blog article and immediately realized that it was an explosive discovery.
Bruches immediately wrote a news article with the title, "The world's number one mathematical genius predicts CERN's new test!"
A report attracted a lot of attention.
Soon a large number of media reprinted it, and many media published similar information.
Even in Western countries, Wang Hao's name has its own traffic. When ranking the Fields winners, Wang Hao ranks first alone, Peter Schultz, Andrew Wiles, and Perel.
Mann is in the second tier, followed by Terence Tao, Qiu Chengwen and other Fields Award winners.
To be continued...
