177: Plague

The plague first began two weeks ago. Suddenly one day, a large number of residents in the city fell ill. Before that, there were no symptoms, as if the virus had agreed to.

Heath asked, "Is there any sign before the plague? For example, a patient entered the city or something."

Bigel shook his head and said, "No, sir."

"We also considered whether it was a season and weather at the beginning, but the weather has been very good recently and the seasons have not changed."

"We also considered looking for sources of infection, but we didn't find them. These patients seemed to have emerged overnight. A large number of patients flocked to the church that day, and it was certain that they had never seen them before."

Heath asked, “Have you tried to take them holy water?”

Bigel said: "We used holy water to rescue the patient when he first appeared, but it didn't work."

Heath frowned.

Holy Water is a therapeutic agent specially formulated with a variety of materials. Theoretically, it should have excellent results for these plague diseases and other diseases.

Bigel sighed: "I really didn't expect the hyenas disaster to come to us!"

Heath asked, "Hynasty?"

Bigel nodded and said, "Yes, sir, this kind of plague has not happened for the first time. It has been outbreaks in many places in the past two years."

"They exploded in one place like hyenas, causing disasters here. After the person died almost, they suddenly disappeared, and then broke out in another place..."

Listening to Bigel's story, Heath narrowed his eyes.

He had a little look on his face...

If his guess is correct, this plague may be...

The carriage drove all the way to the city, and finally stopped in front of the newly built cathedral in the city. Heath and his entourage walked off the carriage.

There are only a lot of patients here than in the city, and there are people lying on the stone steps in front of the church.

The wailing sounded constantly.

"Ah...save...save me...sacrificial priest...save me..."

"I'm in pain...I'm in pain..."

"Who can help me...who will save me..."

Heath walked up to a patient, observed carefully, and called a clergyman next to him to ask about his condition.

There is nothing special about the appearance, it is not much different from humans who have common colds, fevers, and are pale in their faces, fever all over their body, weakness, etc.

What is a little special is that red spots will appear all over the body after the onset of the disease.

The appearance of erythema indicates that the patient begins to develop the disease, and the current observation period from the onset to death is about three days.

"...There are only so many people who know at the moment, sir." The priest said to Heath.

Heath nodded: "Okay, I get it."

Then, he left his body, spread the patient's eyelids and stared at the eyeball.

After observing for a while, he suddenly took out a bell from his space pocket and shook it gently.

This is a negative element particle detection bell, a witch tool specially used to detect negative elements. It has excellent effects on toxins, dark elements, corrosive elements, etc., and can find many things that are hidden very deeply.

"Ding bell!" The crisp sound of the bell.

With this voice, a strange scene appeared.

But under the patient's skin, dark green things suddenly appeared.

Heath immediately stretched out his finger and gently stroked the patient's skin.

With a "puff" sound, a hole naturally cracked, facing the direction of the worm.

After the skin was cut open, it was clearly seen that there were small insects hidden in the flesh and blood below.

It's just a worm, which looks like an earthworm, but at the top it is a tiny upper body of some kind of cat, with a pair of pointed claws.

"This...what monster is this?"

"How could this be?"

The bishop and clergy who were accompanying each other were all surprised. Looking at the dense insects squirming inside the skin, it only made people feel numb on their scalp.

After being exposed, these little insects hurriedly wanted to escape to both sides or dive deeper into their muscles, but their way was blocked by the wizard force field that Heath unfolded in advance.

Then, Heath gently picked up a monster with a dagger.

The exposed monster immediately opened its teeth and claws at Heath, showing a fierce look.

Heath looked at the monster and couldn't help but lit up his eyes: "Akter Abyss Worm!"

This is the same as the motherworm he saw in the Demon Worm Forest, and is also a thing from the abyss, with a scientific name called Akter Abyss Worm, a type of the Abyss Worm family.

This worm has a strong reproductive ability. They like to erode into animals, especially humans, the body of laying eggs and reproduction. This abyss worm can proliferate dozens or millions of times in just a few days.

Heath asked: "Have there any suspicious people come to the city recently?"

Bishop Bigel thought for a moment: "There are no suspicious people, but if you want to say something about strangers, there were indeed a few people who came a few days ago. They claimed to be wizards, and those adults were very enthusiastic at that time to help treat the patients."

"They also said that the plague was spread by someone maliciously."

Heath said in surprise: "Witcher? Did they say where they came from?"

Bishop Bigel shook his head and said, "No, sir."

Heath thought for a moment.

Immediately, he put down the patient: "Bandage him the wound."

Bishop Bigel stepped forward and said, "That adult... do you not need to deal with those bugs?"

Everyone just saw the dense insects.

Heath shook his head: "Not for now."

After a pause, he continued: "The two wizards judged correctly. This plague was indeed not formed naturally, but someone maliciously poisoned him."

The crowd was startled.

"ah?"

"What...what? Someone poisoned? Who did it? It's so hateful!"

"Who is so vicious!"

Bigel was also surprised and said, "Sir, is this true?"

Heath nodded: "It's true."

The Arktel Abyss worms are not contagious. If it weren't for someone's malicious dissemination, such a large-scale attack would have been impossible.

"This person is too bad!"

"Why did he do this? His heart is so vicious!"

"No matter who it is, it must be pulled out!"

The crowd was excited.

Bigel frowned: "Sir, then we...what should we do now?"

Heath said: "Leave it to me."

No matter what purpose this guy is, he actually ran to his territory to do evil, so be prepared to bear his anger!
