About Wujiajiage

Book friends are confused about the division of samurai family lines. Because the destruction of Azuchi Momoyama completely destroyed the samurai family lines, the divisions of samurai family lines in the Muromachi period and the Edo period are completely different. I will talk about the samurai family lines here.

rough divisions.

The family status of the Wu family is divided according to lineage, family name, and ancestors' achievements.

The family structure of the samurai family is roughly divided into seven levels. The family structure of the Kamakura period is roughly similar to that of Muromachi. I will talk about them one by one from high to low.

1. Direct descendants of the Genji family in Kawachi: For example, the Ashikaga Miao clan, the Ashikaga Shogun family, Furukawa Kōka, Hirashima Kōkō, Horikoshi Kōkō, and Koyumi Kōkō, including the Ashikaga family of Kamisuke in this book.

2. The Kawachi Genji clan: such as the original Kira, Shiba, Hatakeyama, Isshiki, Ishibashi, Stone Tower, Shibukawa, etc.

3. Kawachi Genji’s Tongmo clan: (Kind clan, Lianzhi clan) such as Hosokawa, Imagawa, Nimu and other clans

4. Members of the same clan of the Genji clan: such as the Takeda, Satake, Sasaki clan, Akamatsu, Yamana, Toki, Ogasawara, Satomi, and the highest-ranking clan members of the Genji clan.

5. Retainers of the Genji family: Asakura, Ouchi, Otomo, Shaobi, Gohojo, Soma, Utsunomiya, Mouri, Shimazu, Hatano, etc.

These five levels are the official divisions of the martial arts family, and the following are the divisions of the wealthy families.

6. Rich clans: the various Minamoto clans, the Taira clan, the Fujiwara clan, the Otomo clan, the Ki clan, the Wei clan, the Yui Ren clan, the Dazo clan, and even the low-level samurai families from the Kamo clan, the Jibe clan and other social families.

Due to various reasons, the family was not prosperous and the status was not enough, so he just started from the level of a wealthy family.

7. Ground servant: Or underground warrior, a low-level warrior who takes a few peasants out to battle during the war and takes the peasants to farm during the busy farming season.

That is, the kind of lowly warriors who only have ten stones of land and are not even considered wealthy. Many of them are converted from rich peasants, so they usually have no family status and no official names.

Any further down would not belong to the samurai class.
