Chapter 108 The Fox in the West

The master's door is not easy to enter. Not to mention that Downton is just a civilian. Even if the mayor of Chenwu Town comes, he still has to wait for the notification.

The servant asked Downton to wait outside the door and went in to report, but he didn't come out for a long time.

"As expected of the Duke of the Western Region's confidant, he has enough arrogance."

Downton didn't pay attention. He looked up and saw that the afternoon sun was shining brightly.

There are more than a dozen silver camphor trees planted next to the flowerbed in front of the villa, with lush branches and leaves, casting large mottled shadows.

Downton walked over, sat on the ground, took out a potions book, and leaned against a tree trunk, reading and reciting.

Occasionally, a breeze blows through, bringing a sense of comfort to the skin.

"This young man is very calm and has a talent." Dofink's wife stood behind the blinds and peeked at Downton's young and handsome face. She couldn't help but stare at Downton's young and handsome face for more than ten minutes. "You have to promote him."

?"

"But he lacks awe!"

Dofink's tone was not kind, and the people he usually received were fawning and respectful to him. Even when he was standing outside, he was waiting with a humble expression. How could he be like Downton, who actually sat under the shade of a tree to read.

"Why are you arguing with a poor country boy? With their poor knowledge, they have no idea how noble your status is?" The wife smiled and complimented her husband.

"Forget it, if it weren't for the fact that we couldn't resolve the situation, I wouldn't have met such a ungrateful idiot." Dofink felt that he had promoted Downton, so he should show his gratitude.

"Go and call Downton in." After the wife ordered the servant, she sighed in her heart, "Young man, you must seize the opportunity."

Just like Robinson's evaluation of Downton when he was at Crow Ridge, when he was reading quietly, he was like an elegant poet. Coupled with the angular facial contours and the temperament he exuded, he was very attractive to some ladies who like literature and opera.

Full of lethality.

"Downton, clean the dirt off your shoes." The servant warned, "Come in with me. Be careful what you say later!"

Downton was noncommittal and stamped his feet twice on the paved stone floor, but as soon as he stepped onto the steps, he was stopped.

"It can't go in." The two guards pointed their spears at Jackson.

Downton turned around and found that the heavily armed ghoul indeed looked violent, especially his pair of green eyes, which made him look even more seductive and evil.

"I am Lord Downton's demon servant, why can't I come in?" Jackson reached his hand behind his waist and held the crossbow, preparing to fire a shot at the two guys who dared to block it.

"Wait here, don't cause trouble, and don't call me that in the future." Tang Zheng frowned. With his personality, he was not used to the word 'adult' uttered by Jackson.

"As you command, my master, your will is supreme!" Jackson stood up straight with a respectful expression.

The guard stared at Downton's leaving figure and spit out thick phlegm. In the past two days, he had also heard about what happened to Downton. This time he was found by the boss. Needless to say, the young man would definitely be reused and would make a great career.

Already.

"Bah, what's the point of calling me Master? He's just a civilian." The guard muttered, venting his frustration, and saw a look filled with deathly energy staring at him.

The guard suddenly shuddered, feeling as if he was being targeted by a scavenging lizard from the underground world, causing him to develop typhoid fever.

"Apologise, or I will eat you!" Jackson's hoarse voice was like a steel knife, stabbing the guard's eardrum.

The guard didn't want to speak, but the next second, a crossbow was pressed against his head.

"Apologise!" Jackson's voice became louder because he noticed that Downton looked back. At this time, he naturally had to show off.

"Yes...I'm sorry!" The cold arrow cluster that poked his forehead made the guard unable to be tough and he surrendered obediently.

"Huh, next time, I'll blow your head off." Jackson hummed a tune and walked to the shade of the tree with satisfaction to take a lunch break.

This low-level ghoul that has awakened its wisdom also has evil tastes. In addition to pleasing Downton, its behavior just now is more because it likes to intimidate others. Seeing their scared expressions and the defeated dog posture when begging for mercy, it

I feel like my soul is so happy.

"He's just a civilian. Where did he get so much good equipment? What a bad luck!" Seeing Jackson wearing fine leather armor and carrying a ripping dragon's tooth battle ax on his back, the guard cursed in his heart.

Downton stepped on the wooden floor and made a slight sound.

"Master, he is here!" The servant knocked on the door and then left to do other things.

The door opened quickly!

"Hello, madam!"

Downton put his left hand behind his waist, touched his left chest with his right hand, bent his upper body slightly, and made a greeting.

"How do you know I'm a lady and not a maid?"

The woman nodded as a return gift, and then asked curiously.

"Your noble temperament is something that those maids cannot possess."

Downton complimented. In fact, the answer is very simple. With her age, exquisite clothes, and well-maintained skin, how could this woman be a maid? Besides, she was alone with her boss, and her attitude was not at all restrained. This is also an example.

"Come in, the boss wants to see you!" Although the lady did not praise anything, the smile between her eyebrows showed that she was in a good mood.

The first impression gave Downton a passing grade. After nodding his thanks again, he walked to his desk.

Dofink had put down his quill and looked directly at Downton through his glasses, as if he wanted to see through him.

"Master!" Downton said without hesitation.

"Do you know why I asked you to come?" After five minutes of silence, Dofink spoke.

"I don't know." Downton shook his head, lowered his eyelids, and stared at the carpet.

Although it was just a few glances, Downton had already observed this middle-aged man very carefully.

Most of the hair is gray, and the robe is not very new, but it has been washed very clean, with no wrinkles on the collar and cuffs, and is ironed very smoothly.

The inkwells and books on the table were all neatly placed together. Downton also noticed that before talking to him, he casually arranged the parchment full of writing.

This is a man who has developed the habit of being meticulous in his life, and he seems to have some obsessive-compulsive disorder. After Downton made his judgment, he braced himself to deal with Dofink.

"You've been in a lot of trouble recently. What do you think of the mine?" Dofink yelled, trying to give Downton a blow.

Downton remained silent and put on a slightly panicked expression on his face. Based on his experience at the post office, he knew that once he refuted, he would incur even more violent curses and reprimands.

Dofink originally thought that Downton was young and energetic, and had the upper hand in the fight with the foreman and overseer, so he would be complacent and disobedient to discipline. He was about to use all his strength to teach him a lesson, but he didn't expect that he would remain silent.

He said, like a child who was scolded by the teacher and prayed that the storm would pass quickly.

The master in charge roared even louder, but his expression became much more relaxed. He was very satisfied with Downton's reaction. This is the kind of awe that a servant should have.

Downton pursed his lips, made his eyes moist, and secretly looked at Madam.

"Okay, enough lessons, let's get down to business!" Madam couldn't stand listening any more. Downton's weeping expression was like a desperate cub longing for help. It reminded her of her little son and couldn't help but

Motherhood flourishes.

In addition to the nickname of First Postman, Downton also has the title of Fox of the West. His cunning, acting skills, and wit are all recognized by postmen as No. 1!

Not to mention the two times he successfully escaped from the Robinson trio and tricked Jackson into signing a death pact, the fact that Downton has never been successfully extorted for even a copper by the border sentry known as the Worm in the West is enough to show how smart and astute he is.

"Ahem, the big foremen and supervisors collect ore taxes privately. I hate it. You have done a good job. It is time to protect some rights of the miners." After playing the stick, Dofink finally threw out the carrot.

"If you are asked to be the supervisor, what are you going to do?"

"I follow your orders." Downton likes to make plans before taking action, not to mention Homer's guidance. As early as after defeating Foreman Ost, he has been rehearsing what to do if Dofink summons him.

Deal with him.

There are more than a dozen possibilities that Downton and Homer have considered, and all of them have been given countermeasures. What he has to do now is just to come up with them.

"Very good!" Seeing Downton's answer without any hesitation, Dofink thought it was his instinctive sincere words, and was immediately overjoyed, "I will give you the right to temporarily supervise the work now."

"Thank you, sir!" Tang Zheng's expression was in disbelief at first, and then turned into ecstasy.

"You must do your job well. If you disappoint me, I will remove you from your position." Dofink leaned on the back of his chair.

It feels great to control other people's destiny. Dofink savors this kind of time without knowing that the development of all these events was as expected by Downton.

"Congratulations, would you like some tea?" Madam interrupted, a small favor to make Downton burst into tears of gratitude.

"Thank you, I won't bother you!" Downton quickly stood up and deliberately touched the chair with his leg.

The chair legs got caught on the carpet and almost fell down. Downton scrambled to help him.

"Haha!" Seeing the rush and shyness on Downton's face, Dofink laughed out loud. This is right. This is the mentality and behavior a young man should have when facing himself.

The lady looked at Downton carefully and found that although he was wearing a miner's suit that was one size larger, it was not stained with any mineral powder. His long fingers and cheeks were all spotlessly clean. When he smiled, his whole body was covered with a trace of dust.

A refreshing taste like sunshine.

"By the way, I heard that you have a war space prop? And a perfect battle ax?" Dofink stopped laughing and stared at Downton.

Downton's heart suddenly skipped a beat. He knew he couldn't avoid this question. If he didn't answer it well, he would probably be killed in the next moment.

At the same time, the supervisor heard that Downton severely humiliated his subordinates in the cafeteria, and led 300 guards to the foreman building. This time he wanted to kill Downton completely to maintain the majesty of the supervisory power.
