Chapter 196: Seeing the nature and becoming a Buddha
After flying for another day, we could finally see the undulating Jialan Mountains in front of us. From a distance, it looked like a dormant dragon with an amazing momentum. Right in the center of the mountains, there seemed to be golden light shooting out of a peak, reaching straight into the sky. There
It is Lanruo Peak, where Jialan Temple is located.
"Ah, it is indeed a Buddhist holy land. It is shining with auspicious light and is extremely holy." Li Qianmo couldn't help but admired secretly when he saw such a scenery, and his flying speed became a little faster.
Thousands of miles ahead, we were approaching Mount Jialan, and we saw many ordinary people on the road below walking in groups towards Jialan Temple, some riding horses and camels, and some on foot.
Curious, he quietly landed on the ground and approached these ordinary people. After asking, he learned: It turns out that every five years in Jialan Temple, a senior monk will hold an altar on Qingdeng Peak to preach sermons. Regardless of ordinary monks, as long as they sincerely worship the Buddha
, everyone can come and listen to the Dharma. This year is special. Monk Guankong actually opened the forum to teach the Dharma in person, so many people came to listen to the Dharma.
Li Qianmo became interested as soon as he heard about this. He had always been curious about Buddhism and knew very little about it. Although Buddhism and Taoism were different paths, he thought they must have the same origin, so he decided to go with these ordinary people to hear the Dharma conference.
See if the Taoist mind of Buddhism is the same as that of Taoism.
So he hid his breath, borrowed some clothes from these mortals, changed into them, and headed to Mount Jialan with them.
The sun was about to set on the west mountain, and Li Qianmo and the mortal team arrived at Qingdeng Peak. The monks from Jialan Temple arranged accommodation and fasting for them, and informed them that at noon tomorrow, Master Guankong would give a sermon on time.
There was nothing to say all night. At noon the next day, the monks from Jialan Temple came to take them to the Dharma Forum. Thousands of ordinary people were so excited that they lined up in a long line to come to the Dharma Forum.
The Dharma Altar is located on Shiliping of Qingdeng Peak. It is very vast. There are thousands of ordinary people plus thousands of Galan disciples, but they cannot fill the space.
Thousands of Jialan disciples were already sitting in front, all with their eyes closed, chanting scriptures, solemnly and solemnly. Looking around, a large bald head shined in the sun, which was very spectacular.
Li Qianmo followed the common people to the rear and sat down on the mat. He looked in front of him and saw a high platform about a hundred feet away, which was probably the place where he would watch the sky and preach.
After a long time, a drum sounded and someone shouted: "Please watch the sky, great bhikkhu!"
Everyone sitting below stood up together. Li Qianmo didn't know there was such a rule, so he quickly stood up too.
Guan Kong walked onto the high platform from the side, and saw that he was dressed in a yellow monk's robe, with a fiery red cassock draped sideways, with white eyebrows hanging down, and a smile on his face. There seemed to be a faint precious light flowing, like pearls and jade.
Guan Kong stood on the stage, turned around and faced everyone, put his hands together and saluted, then slowly raised his hands: "Everyone, please take a seat."
"Thank you so much, Monk Guankong!" Everyone clasped their hands in thanks and sat down one after another.
Guankong sat cross-legged on the futon, glanced down with a smile, and said slowly: "I have the righteous Dharma treasure, three thousand wonderful meanings, which can suppress all demons, purify thousands of hearts, and stop fighting. I will give it to you here now. I hope you can use it."
Words can be conveyed to the heart, and the Dharma can be widely spread. It is good, it is good."
Everyone below clasped their hands devoutly and chanted in unison: "Good, good."
Guan Kong smiled calmly and began to speak: "I have heard that there are countless sentient beings that I vow to save, troubles that are endless that I vow to put an end to, and Dharma methods that are endless that I vow to learn..."
Although Li Qianmo had never studied Buddhism, Guan Kong would explain every sentence he said and it was easy to understand. Most of them were about cultivating the mind and persuading people to do good. It was very boring and made him feel a little sleepy.
I don’t know how long it took, but Li Qianmo actually fell asleep. When he woke up from a nap, he found that Guan Kong was still talking eloquently: "Precepts are the foundation of the supreme Bodhi. We should fully uphold the pure precepts, and good virtues can be born from the precepts."
Concentration, from concentration, wisdom arises. If the precepts can be kept pure, then concentration and wisdom can be perfected. The precepts established by the Buddha can be divided into three types in summary: first, the precepts for lay people, called the five precepts and the eight precepts. The second, the precepts for monks, called the five precepts.
The ten precepts for novices and novices, and the full precepts for monks and nuns. The third is the precepts for common practice, which is called the three precepts for bodhisattvas..."
This section of "Guan Kong" talks about the importance of keeping the precepts in Buddhism. Its main meaning is that keeping the precepts is the foundation of Buddhism.
"No bullshit, no bullshit." Guan Kong was talking vigorously when such a sentence suddenly appeared in the crowd. Everyone was shocked. Guan Kong was also stunned, stopped, and looked down.
"Who! Who dares to talk nonsense!" A middle-aged monk at the front suddenly stood up, turned around and shouted angrily, scanning the crowd behind him with an angry look. The ordinary people behind looked at each other, a little confused, and no one said anything.
Li Qianmo frowned and thought to himself: "This voice seems very familiar. Where have I heard it before...ah, it's Bai Mu!"
He almost screamed out, but fortunately he covered his mouth at the critical moment. Looking at the middle-aged monk's angry look, he didn't dare to touch him now, but he was sure that the person who just called "bullshit" was white-eyed.
.
"Listen to the Dharma." Guan Kong called the middle-aged monk.
The middle-aged monk quickly turned around, put his hands together and saluted: "Uncle, my disciple is here."
Guan Kong smiled lightly and waved his hand: "Sit down."
"But..." Hearing the Dharma, he was unwilling to accept it. He suddenly froze, sniffed his nose hard, changed his color and shouted, "Uncle, someone is drinking and eating meat!"
"Oh?" Guankong frowned when he heard this, and immediately enveloped the whole place with his huge spiritual consciousness. Then he narrowed his eyes and twirled his beard, smiled, and murmured in a low voice, "We have a visitor."
"Who dares to eat meat here!" Wenfa turned around and shouted at the crowd, his face flushed with anger, and the veins on his bald head were bulging, which was very scary.
I found a common man in the crowd holding a leg of lamb in his left hand and a wine flask in his right hand, shooting his bow from left to right, eating and drinking.
"Bastard!" Hearing the law, he shouted loudly, stamped his feet suddenly, jumped forward, and grabbed a commoner.
The "ordinary citizen" was eating and drinking when he suddenly saw Wenfa flying towards him. He raised his head and grinned at him, revealing his big furry face and his mouth full of fangs.
"Ah! Demonic Cultivator!" Hearing the Fa, he screamed in shock and flew backwards, faster than when he came in. After landing, he took three steps back, turned around and shouted in panic, "Uncle Master, there is a demonic cultivator!"
Guan Kong laughed, stood up and said, "I'm not a demon cultivator, I'm a friend."
The white-eyed boy stood up with a playful smile, biting into pieces of mutton leg, walked through the crowd, and said with a smile, "Great monk, we meet again."
Guan Kong laughed loudly, stood up and said: "We say goodbye in a hurry to the Mountain of No Return. My little white-eyed friend is still as charming as ever."
"It's okay, it's okay, haha." Bai Mu smiled proudly and drank all the meat in his mouth into his stomach with a sip of wine.
Guan Kong also smiled, pointed at his clothes, and said, "It's just... your outfit is a bit strange."
I saw Baime wearing a small black jacket and a white cloth cap on his head. The greasy trousers had not been changed. I don’t know where the jacket was stolen. It was tightly tied around his body. It looked like
Very strange.
Bai Mu lowered his head and looked at his clothes, grinned, and continued walking towards Guan Kong with wine and meat in hand.
Suddenly, a figure flashed in front of him. After hearing the Dharma, he jumped in front of him, stretched out his hand to stop him, and shouted with an angry look on his face: "Even if you know my uncle, you can't eat wine and meat in the holy land of Buddhism and blaspheme the Buddha!"
Bai Mu stretched out his hand and slapped his nose, rolled his eyes and said, "Little bald man, your farts really stink."
"What did you say!" Wenfa was furious when he heard the words, and he punched him and tried to punch him in the eye.
"Don't be rude when listening to the Dharma." Guan Kong shouted in a deep voice.
Hearing the Dharma, he closed his fists angrily, rolled his eyes angrily, and said angrily: "Hurry up and get off Qingdeng Peak. People who blaspheme the Buddha are not welcome here."
"Buddha?" He looked around and asked with a grin, "Where is Buddha? Why can't I see him?"
"You..." He gritted his teeth in anger after hearing the Fa. He really wanted to go up and scratch his ears to relieve his anger.
Bai Mu threw away the leg of lamb and the wine bottle, put his hands on his waist, looked at Wenfa with a smile, and asked: "Little bald head, let me ask you, you keep talking about Buddha, when have you seen him?"
"Hmph!" Hearing the Dharma, he snorted loudly and said loudly, "Why do you need to see the Buddha? The Buddha is the Buddha's principles. It exists in the heart of Prajna and is within the size of the spiritual platform. You, a vulgar person, will never know such mysteries in your life.
Xuanzang.”
"Ha!" Bai Mu became excited when he heard this. He rolled his eyes and asked with a smile, "Then you said that I blasphemed the Buddha. How did I blaspheme him? I have never scolded him."
"You drinking and eating meat in a Buddhist holy place is the greatest blasphemy against Buddha!" Hearing the Dharma, he rolled his eyes angrily and refused to give in.
"It's weird, I drink alcohol and eat meat, and do the same shit as Buddha?" Bai Mu pretended to be confused, scratched his head repeatedly, and continued, "I'm not a Buddhist disciple. If I want to drink, I will drink. If I want to eat meat, I will eat meat.
The Buddha wouldn't be so lenient."
Hearing the Fa, he was immediately stunned and opened his mouth, only to find that he was speechless.
Bai Mu smiled proudly, turned his head to face Guankong, and said with joy, "Also, old monk Guankong just said about this and that, and also said that this is the foundation of Buddha. Is this what the Buddha said?"
Guankong was stunned when he heard this, smiled and said, "That's what the scriptures say."
"That doesn't make sense, that doesn't make sense!" Bai Mu shook his head.
Guan Kong was stunned again when he heard this, and said with a wry smile: "What is Tan Yue's advice?"
Bai Mu chuckled and said with high spirits: "That's what the Buddha said. He said that drinking alcohol is not good. It can easily make one's mind unclear, unclear, unable to comprehend the true meaning of Buddhism, and hinder practice. It's best not to drink; it's not good to eat meat.
, if you are killing animals indirectly, it is best not to eat them..."
He talked a lot, all of which were about the best things not to do. After listening to the Dharma, he stamped his feet and shouted: "Nonsense, nonsense, when did the Buddha say this!"
Bai Mu grinned: "Then how can you prove that the Buddha said it like you did?"
Henfa was speechless again, his eyes widened and he looked at Bai Mu angrily.
Bai Mu completely ignored listening to the Dharma, put his hands on his hips, laughed and said: "So, it doesn't matter what the Buddha said, what is important is that the mind is at ease, and the body is at ease. The mind wanders in the emptiness, and is free and content. If you want to understand the truth,
It's very reasonable, but how can you lock yourself up in a cage? It's really like being outside the cage."
Guan Kong was shocked when he heard the words, and the doubts that had puzzled him for thousands of years were solved by Bai Mu's words. It was like a wake-up call, and he suddenly became enlightened.
"Amitabha!" Guan Kong put his palms together and bowed before his eyes, sighing loudly, "After listening to Tan Yue's words, a certain family realized that a certain family's thousands of years of Buddhist practice are not worth mentioning in front of Tan Yue."
"What?" Bai Mu was confused when he heard the words, blinking blankly and looking at the sky.
Li Qianmo was also extremely shocked when he heard this, and murmured: "Bai Mu understands Buddhism? Is Master Guankong joking?"
Guankong looked at Baimu with a smile on his face and said: "Someone just found out today that little friend Baimu is also a Buddhist. When the truth comes to light, now that we have come to Mount Jialan, why not go to Jialan Temple to sit and discuss Buddhism?
Isn’t that wonderful?”
"Going to Jialan Temple?" Bai Mu's ears twitched, and he stared at the sky and asked, "Is there any wine to drink? Is there any meat to eat?"
Hearing the Dharma, the man on the side turned purple with anger. He turned around and faced Guan Kong, shouting urgently: "Uncle Master, how can you let him go to Jialan Temple? How can he be a Buddhist?"
When Bai Mu heard this, he smiled at him with his teeth bared, and said proudly: "Hey, you won't let me go, but I have to go."
Guankong smiled faintly, turned his head to hear the Dharma, and said: "In the ten directions of Jambudvipa world, all doors of convenience are opened. Buddhism should not stick to one discipline. Hearing the Dharma, your Dharma cultivation is still low. You need to know and see your nature."
To become a Buddha is not limited to Buddhism or outside."
The monk who heard the Dharma was shocked and seemed to have an epiphany. After being stunned for a moment, he suddenly put his hands together solemnly, bowed to Guan Kong, and said sincerely: "Thank you so much for your teachings, Uncle Master. You can become a Buddha by seeing your nature, regardless of whether you are inside or outside Buddhism!"
