Chapter 21 Confused

The origin of the word "abbot" is very interesting. The original meaning is that the Bodhisattva's room is only one foot square. Although it is only an abbot, it can accommodate thousands of disciples' seats. It is incredible and it also describes the breadth and depth of Buddhism.

Master Xuanbei's abbot is not very big, of course it is much larger than one foot square.

The abbot's interior is neatly tidied. There is a Buddhist niche on the north wall. On the Buddhist niche is placed a bronze statue of Sakyamuni, which is more than one foot tall. The bronze statue is solemn and upright, very solemn. Three thin sandalwood sticks

There is a faint smoke, and the aroma of sandalwood floats into the nose, making people wake up involuntarily.

There are several futons on the ground. Every time he comes, Master Xuanbei will sit at the top. We sit at the bottom respectfully, and the young novice will make tea. The tea is ordinary tea. Although it has no aroma and a bitter taste, it is

It's meditation.

Usually at this time, everyone starts to talk freely. Master Xuanbei agrees with the Buddhist viewpoints I talk about, and Xu Huizhu, who is standing aside, will quietly listen to me and Master Xuanbei discussing the issues.

I feel that Xu Huizhu treats me much better now, probably because of my relationship with Master Xuanbei on Taoism.

But today is different, because the person sitting at the top is not Master Xuanbei. Master Xuanbei is bending down and respectfully making tea for that person, and that person is actually a very young monk.

I was stunned and looked carefully. I saw that the young monk was only wearing ordinary blue-gray coarse cloth monk's clothes. There was no ordination scar on his head, as if he had not been ordained. To become a monk, you need to be ordained. If you are not ordained, then

Most of them should be lay disciples.

I am really curious as to how Master Xuanbei, who thinks so highly of himself as a Buddhist master, could be so respectful and courteous to such a lay disciple, and he is still a young monk.

The young monk was only in his teens, with fair skin and handsome features. He naturally sat in the first place, as if he should sit in this seat. When he saw us, he just smiled on his face and showed no courtesy.

Nodding, not standing up to say hello to us, looking like a great monk, the little monk was sitting there. There can only be two words to describe it ~ natural!

Master Xuanbei poured water for the little monk, sat down on the left side of the little monk, and waved his hand for us to sit down too. At this time, the little novice who followed us started to pour water for us. Master Xuanbei did not move. Look at it this way

Come on, in the heart of Master Xuanbei, the status of the young monk is much higher than that of us.

I can't help but feel a little annoyed. It seems that Master Xuanbei is nothing more than this. A young monk, no matter how high the Dharma is, how high can he be? Could it be that the young monk has a higher seniority and is Xuanbei's elder? It seems impossible.

It is said that Master Xuanbei is of extremely high seniority.

At this time, Master Xuanbei turned to me and said, "You guys are really destined to meet me. How lucky you are to meet Master." After saying this, he smiled, as if he was happy for us. Then he turned around and faced

The little monk said, "Master, see if they are destined!"

The little monk smiled but remained silent.

Master? He became a master at such a young age. Although in the XZ Tantric Lama tradition, some reincarnated living Buddhas are respected as masters from birth, but the little monk is not a lama. I looked sideways at Xu Huizhu and found that she also

She was looking at me, and judging from her expression, she had the same idea as me.

I unconsciously asked, "Where did the master come from?"

The little monk had a calm expression and said, "I come from the same place."

"Where are you going again?"

"Of course I have to go out." the young monk replied.

In fact, these words are just Buddhist wisdom. It is not surprising that anyone with some knowledge of Buddhism has heard these words.

Master Xuanbei took over the conversation and said to us, "Don't look down on the master because he is young. Don't be arrogant."

I immediately said, "Yes, the master has become a master at such a young age. It's really amazing." Of course, my tone was that I didn't agree with the young monk.

The young monk immediately received the message: "There are different ages, and there are different degrees of enlightenment."

The young monk's answer was impeccable and eloquent, but I still felt contemptuous and wanted to make things difficult. Regardless of politeness, I opened my mouth and said to the young monk, "Since you are a master, you happen to have something."

I don’t quite understand something, and I’d like to ask for advice.”

The little monk stretched out his hand to me and said, "Please say!"

I looked at the little monk and asked, "What is a Buddha?"

This question is very simple. Friends who insist on reading this chapter may be able to answer immediately. The Buddha is Sakyamuni, the Buddha is something like that, etc. In fact, what I asked is not just the literal meaning.

Another friend was very angry and said, Long Wu, we are anxious to know the whereabouts of the old man with the severed hand. How come you have ended up chatting here? He is both a monk and a Buddha. In fact, this period of my life in SX is very critical. In the future development

Not only is it closely related to the old man with the severed hand, but it is also inseparable from a huge treasure.

The young monk immediately understood my question and said to me with a smile, "Buddha is nothing! He has no appearance of self, no appearance of no one, no appearance of living beings, and no appearance of a person without lifespan."

This sentence of the young monk originally comes from the Diamond Sutra, and this sentence is the true meaning of Buddhism and becoming a Buddha.

But no! Is he a Buddha?

I opened my mouth to ask more questions, when Xu Huizhu spoke.

"Master, since there is nothing, how can there be a Buddha?" Xu Huizhu said with a smile.

Well, that's right. If there is nothing, how can the Buddha exist? I turned around and saw that this little girl was smart, witty, and sharp-tongued. She was not simple at all, but she was not just beautiful in appearance.

The little monk only said, "Create something out of nothing!"

At that moment, Master Xuanbei put his hands together and said repeatedly, "Good! Good!"

Xu Huizhu and I looked at each other as if we were awakened from a dream, and couldn't help but bow to the young monk. I said, "Master is indeed an expert!"

In fact, the more seemingly simple the question, the harder it is to answer it. Some Buddhist koans are confusing and confusing, but the young monk's answer is every word, enlightening and admirable.

The young monk looked at Master Xuanbei and said, "It seems they are really destined for each other!" After saying that, he stretched out his hands to face Xu Huizhu and me.

Xu Huizhu and I looked over and saw a small identical yellow jade pendant in the little monk's open hands. Xu Huizhu and I quickly took it. Xu Huizhu and I thanked each other repeatedly.

The young monk waved his hand, "These two jade pendants can suppress the evil energy in the body and are of great benefit to practice. Take them."

I thought to myself, it's so mysterious to say that there is no evil spirit, but since it is a gift, I should accept it.

I looked at the young monk and asked, "I wonder what the master's name is?"

The young monk smiled bitterly and said, "It's just a name, why bother with it? Well, since we are destined, I will tell you."

The little monk said to me, "My name is Muddleheaded!"

After saying that, the young monk and Master Xuanbei smiled.

Master Xuanbei suddenly said to the young monk with a solemn expression, "The seal is about to be broken. They can help."

The young monk shook his head and looked at Master Xuanbei blankly, "Well, I'm more worried about you. Fifty years have passed in a blink of an eye, and those things seem to be more capable. I'm afraid there may be some twists and turns in the seal this time."

"I don't think it's all right. My Buddha said it well. If I don't go to hell, who will! Master Muddle-headed, why can't you see through it?" Master Xuanbei faced the little monk, and the two of them smiled again unconsciously.

Xu Huizhu and I were stunned after listening to the little monk's words. It seemed that he and Master Xuanbei had done something fifty years ago, but he was so young. Could it be that he was reincarnated, or that he was already very old?

Are you good at maintaining your beauty? Is anything else really going to happen?

We were about to ask. At this time, Jia Dao stood in front of Xu Huizhu and me. Looking at the pair of identical jade pendants that the young monk gave us, he couldn't help but become more and more anxious. He shouted to the young monk, "Master Confused, how can we give them exactly the same jade pendants?"

I don’t have the gift yet.”

The young monk, Master Muddleheaded and Master Xuanbei, did not say anything. The young monk looked at them and said to us, "Master, they have entered samadhi."

I know that entering samadhi is a Buddhist lesson. I don’t want to disturb you. It is not easy to truly enter samadhi, and it is even rarer to enter samadhi immediately like this. Xu Huizhu and I picked up Jia Dao, who wanted a gift, and went back to the guest room together.

went.
