Chapter 225 Awakened from a Nightmare, Lin Che Distressed

Han Shuiqin's three suicide notes were written to herself, one to her son, and one to the innkeeper.

After decades of life, in the end, it is just a few thin pages of letter paper and a few lines of words.

Mu Yang felt that the pages of letter paper in his hand were both extremely light and extremely heavy.

She seemed to see Han Shuiqin sitting at the desk, with a slight smile hanging on the corner of her mouth. She wrote a few lines and then paused, raised her hand to wipe away the tears she had inadvertently left, and looked back at Han Cong, who was sleeping soundly, with bamboo shadows falling on the desk.

on her shoulders, and on her indifferent face...

After she finished writing her suicide note, she waited for Han Cong to wake up, for the sun to rise, and to welcome death.

There is no greater sorrow than the death of one's heart.

Mu Yang handed the suicide note to Lin Che, stood by the desk, looked at the dancing bamboo shadows outside the window, and a crystal tear rolled down his smiling face.

This was the mood she experienced from Han Shuiqin's suicide note - despair, but relief; hurt, but forgiven.

In the face of death, nothing matters.

Lin Che quickly read the contents of the suicide note and handed the letter to her colleagues in the Trace Inspection Department, "Do a handwriting appraisal."

The investigation work was not completed until early in the morning. No signs of fighting or other suspicious signs were found in the small yard. A few hairs found in the bathroom sewer were initially suspected to be left by previous guests who rented the property. Samples need to be obtained for further comparison and confirmation.

The only relics left by Han Shuiqin and Han Cong in the small yard were two suitcases, which contained some changes of clothes, toiletries, daily necessities, and a little change.

It was too late, and the innkeeper was also enthusiastic. He asked several friends who owned B&Bs in the scenic area and booked two rooms for Lin Che and Mu Yang.

Lin Che took a shower and stood on the balcony to smoke. There was light coming from the balcony next door.

Lin Che thought Mu Yang was still up so late, so she went back to the room to get her cell phone, thinking of sending a WeChat message to remind the little girl to go to bed early.

Lin Che took the phone and had just sat beside the bed when a sound of breaking glass came from the path outside. It was particularly obvious in the quiet night. A drunkard shouted something at the top of his lungs. Almost at the same time, a sound came from the next door.

A scream of terror!

Lin Che's expression tensed up instantly, she rushed out of the room and knocked on the door next door, "Mu Yang, what's wrong?"

There was no response, no sound at all in the room.

"Muyang?"

Lin Che knocked on the door and called Mu Yang at the same time. She could hear a mobile phone vibrating in the room, but no one answered and there was no other movement.

I don’t know if the girl at the front desk is not there or she fell asleep, and no one answered the phone at the front desk.

Lin Che strode back to her room, threw her phone on the bed, and rushed to the balcony. It was three stories high. He didn't hesitate at all. He stepped on the outer edge of the balcony that was less than half a hand wide and pulled the wrought iron railing of the balcony.

With a long stride, he accurately grasped the railing of the balcony next door, and with a push of his feet, he flipped over to the balcony on the opposite side. His movements were neat and agile.

The light was on in the next room, and Lin Che immediately saw Mu Yang huddled in the corner of the bed against the wall.

The little girl had her head buried, wrapped in a quilt, huddled in a ball, shivering, and the caller ID page of her cell phone on the bedside table had just gone dark.

After walking four or five steps from the balcony to the bed, Lin Che looked around the room and found nothing wrong.

Lin Che put one hand on the bed, leaned forward, gently pulled the corner of the quilt, and said softly, "It's me, what's wrong?"

Lin Che's hand just touched the corner of the quilt. The person wrapped in the quilt was trembling instantly, as if he was surrounded by countless terrifying things. He was frightened and uneasy. Even though there was a wall behind him, he was still shrinking back.

The sheets were wrinkled and resisted any contact.

That kind of fear and panic stung Lin Che's eyes. Lin Che's brows were furrowed, and her eyes were full of worry and nervousness. But he had no choice but to do nothing. This made him the most powerless.

Lin Che retracted her hand, stepped back a little, put her hands on the edge of the bed, and said in a low voice like she was coaxing a child, "Don't be afraid, I'll check the room for you and lock all the doors."

Lin Che took Mu Yang's cell phone and put it next to the pillow, "I'll be watching outside your room. If you need anything, call me. I can also chat with you on WeChat."

Lin Che said as she held her hands up, and just as she was about to stand up, someone grabbed her sleeve.

To be precise, the wrist was grabbed first, and then immediately released, grabbing the sleeve.

Lin Che was wearing a long-sleeved T-shirt, which was very thin. He could feel the cold little hands trembling. The palms were covered with sweat, the joints were white, and the tendons and blood vessels on the back of the hands were bulging.

Hold on to that bit of fabric.

"Don't be afraid, I'm here."

Lin Che opened her mouth, stretched out her hand a little, and sat on the edge of the bed, accompanying Mu Yang. She didn't speak again, but frowned and looked at the pile of quilts with distress.

More than ten minutes later, a slight trembling voice came from the corner, muffled, "I had a nightmare, I heard someone yelling, and I woke up..."

Lin Che reacted immediately and said comfortingly, "Don't be afraid. It's just a person who drank too much and threw a bottle on the roadside. He has already gone far."

"Um."

There was a bit of grievance in the muffled voice. The quilt moved and tore open a slit. A small face covered with sweat came out. A pair of big wet eyes were a little red. At first glance, he was shrinking under the quilt.

I cried.

Lin Che's heart tightened, the pain was severe, and her face, which was not very expressive, was filled with unabashed distress and worry.

Mu Yang loosened his grip on Lin Che's sleeves, wiped the hair stuck to his face with his two small hands, and explained with a small mouth, "I'm a bit uncomfortable with the bed. If I change the environment, I will have nightmares. I'm sorry..."

In fact, she was used to nightmares, and she could calm down after waking up. But tonight, she was startled awake by the throwing of a wine bottle and the shouting of the drunkard. For a moment, she couldn't tell the difference between dreams and reality, so she subconsciously screamed.

The little girl's sorry words and apologetic eyes made Lin Che feel even more distressed.

"Is it because of that thing that I can't talk about for the time being?"

Mu Yang pursed his white lips and nodded.

Lin Che knew that Mu Yang had some shadows in her heart that she couldn't bring up, but she didn't know that it was so serious. She usually looked at her with a smile on her face, cheerful and not worried at all. Who would have thought that she would be so frightened?

Since it was something the little girl didn't want to talk about, Lin Che didn't ask. She unscrewed the mineral water on the bedside table and handed it over, "How about we go back to Jiangzhou now?"

Mu Yang was still huddled under the quilt, holding the mineral water bottle in his two small hands, taking a sip, shaking his head, sniffing, trying to force out a smile, "I'm fine, Officer Lin, please go back to sleep."

, there are many things to do tomorrow."

Lin Che frowned even more tightly. How could the little girl look like she was okay now?

Lin Che got up and went to the bathroom to wring out a hot towel and wipe Mu Yang's face. Then she checked the entire room carefully, even the central air-conditioning outlet, using her mobile phone's flashlight to shine a light on it.

Lin Che knew that there would be nothing in the room, but he also knew that checking Mu Yang's mind like this would make him feel more at ease.
