Chapter 338 The Lawrence Breakthrough Award of the Year

After playing the weekend league, Qiao Anchen flew to Brazil on March 11 to attend the 2013 Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony held in Brazil.

The final six nominees for Best Male Athlete are:

1. Qiao Anchen (China) who scored 117 goals in 2012;

2. London Olympic Games 100m, 200m, 4*100m gold medalist Usain Bolt (Jamaica);

3. London Olympics 5,000m and 10,000m gold medalist Mo Farah (Great Britain);

4. Michael Phelps (USA), winner of 4 gold medals and 2 silver medals in swimming at the London Olympics and a total of 22 Olympic medals in his career;

5. Vettel (France), three consecutive F1 World Championship champions;

6. Bradley Wiggins (UK), London Olympics cycling individual time trial champion and Tour de France champion

In the end, the Laureus Male Athlete of the Year Award was awarded to Bolt, the flying man who created the miracle of sprinting. Qiao Anchen missed the Laureus Award because he did not have a heavyweight championship honor.

Bolt's dominance in the 100-meter dash is like Pele to football and Jordan to basketball. He is a god in the field of sprinting.

When there was the Olympics last year and Bolt also won the 100m and 200m gold medals, it was indeed a bit difficult for others to compete with him.

Although he did not win the Best Male Athlete Award, Qiao Anchen also entered the list of another award, the "Best Breakthrough Award of the Year".

The Best Male Athlete Award is like the Golden Globe Award in football, and the Best Breakthrough Award is like the European Golden Boy Award in sports. It is awarded to young athletes who have made great achievements in their debut.

Qiao Anchen failed to compete with Bolt in the Best Male Athlete Award, but there is no dispute in this Best Breakthrough Award.

Entered Atletico Madrid's first team at the age of 15 and scored a hat-trick in his first game. He scored 117 goals in 2012, becoming the first player in history to score three-digit goals in a year, breaking various competition records and world records.

, won the Europa League championship, the European Super Cup championship, won the Europa League Golden Boot, etc.

Such an achievement is not something that other young players can compete with by winning one or two gold medals at the London Olympics.

Amidst the warm applause of all the guests, he won the annual Lawrence Best Breakthrough Award with an undisputed vote rate.

It is worth mentioning that for this year's Best Breakthrough Award, not only Qiao Anchen entered the nomination list and finally won the award, but there was also another Chinese female athlete who participated in swimming and won two gold medals in the 200m and 400m at the London Olympics.

Ye Shiwen also entered the final nomination list.

After receiving the award from the stage and giving an acceptance speech, she returned to her seat. Ye Shiwen, who was right next to Qiao Anchen's seat, happily "snatched" the trophy and asked Qiao Anchen to take two photos for her.

He signed autographs and took photos with her, and finally let Qiao Anchen go.

In addition, the Chinese table tennis team was nominated for the Best Team Award because it won four gold medals and two silver medals at the London Olympics, but ultimately failed to win.

After the award ceremony, Qiao Anchen only had time to take a photo with the Chinese athletes who attended the party, and then left in a hurry, not even attending the dinner, and flew back to Europe.

Because midweek is the remaining four Champions League 1/8 finals, including Atletico Madrid's home game against Porto.

Qiao Anchen must go back to rest and prepare for the game.

If it weren't for the help of his deep sleep and dream training system, he wouldn't even dare to attend the Lawrence Awards.

Even so, Simeone and the Atletico Madrid coaching staff were still very worried. However, Lawrence officially called and informed Qiao Anchen that he had won the award and that he must try his best to receive the award on site, so there was no way to shirk it.

On March 12, the first two Champions League 1/8 finals were decided. Schalke 04, like Manchester United, drew 1-1 away from home in the first round, but lost the second round at home.

After leading by one goal, Galatasaray scored three goals in a row. In the end, they reversed 3-2 and were eliminated by Galatasaray with a total score of 3-4.

In another game, Barcelona defeated AC Milan 4-0 at home with Messi's brace and goals from Villa and Alba. After losing 0-2 in the first round, Barcelona won 4-4.

With a total score of 2, they reversed and eliminated AC Milan and advanced to the quarterfinals.

The next day, March 13, will be the last two 1/8 finals played at the same time, Atletico Madrid vs. Porto, Bayern Munich vs. Arsenal.

In the first round of the match between the two sides, Atletico Madrid defeated Porto 2-1 away from home. Although Qiao Anchen provided two assists, he did not score a goal.

The main reason was that his opponent, Porto left-back Alex Sandro, displayed astonishing defensive abilities in that game, blocking Qiao Anchen's breakthroughs, shots, and passes many times.

Intention to catch the ball, etc.

If Qiao Anchen hadn't had a good mental quality, adjusted in time, passed the ball to his teammates, and didn't have a bullfight with Sandro, he might have really suffered from the opponent.

Even so, two assists but no goals, compared to Qiao Anchen's previous invincibility in the game, Alex Sandro suddenly became famous.

The second round of the match between the two sides became the touchstone for everyone to verify whether Sandro can really defend Qiao Anchen.

At 20:45 in the evening on March 13, with the referee's whistle, the second leg of the 2012/2013 Champions League 1/8 finals between Atletico Madrid and Porto at home officially started at the Calderon Stadium.

The weather for this game was much better than the previous two days of the league. It was sunny and the entire Calderon Stadium was packed. More than 50,000 fans cheered for the home team. They hoped that Atletico Madrid could defeat Porto and avenge their elimination from Porto in the 2008/2009 season.

One shot of revenge.

After the game started, Atlético Madrid, which was leading 2-1 with a total score and two away goals, sat firmly on Diaoyutai. It did not press the attack significantly, but defended its own half, waiting for Porto to attack.

With two away goals and a lead in the total score, it would be useless for Porto to score a goal to equalize the total score. They would still be eliminated by Atletico Madrid with the advantage of more away goals.

Therefore, the sheet army can wait leisurely for Porto to attack, and after leaking more gaps in the backcourt, they can steal the ball and hit the opponent's counterattack with a fatal blow.

Porto also knows Atletico Madrid's plan, but this is a conspiracy. If they don't attack, Atletico Madrid will definitely not mind running out the game time and advance to the quarterfinals with a total score of 2-1.

Therefore, Porto can only attack from the beginning of the game and strive to score goals as soon as possible.

They need to score at least two goals to be able to reverse the elimination of Atletico Madrid and advance to the next round.
